What tempted you to buy tickets
JUDGEMENT DAY!!
Anybody going up then?
If so, can you spare a minute to complete a brief survey:

I voted 'other': I'm a Dragons season-ticket holder, and this is a 'home' game.

Which is a good point. Are they going to rotate it so that the Scarlets lose a home game next year? Would it make a difference if your season ticket gave you a concessionary rate?

That would be even more absurd, would it? The Scalets having a 'home' game in Cardiff?

I have heard talk of some Dragons fans boycotting as a finger up to the WRU for robbing them of their home game. Is there any truth in that?

After the Glasgow game there was talk of boycotting the Leinster game, but I don't think many stayed away. After the Ospreys game, who knows?

Sad thing is this could be epic... But it isn't. The regions are struggling.
The dragons are a joke at the moment. I will be going down to support the players but I'm not happy with the bord/coaches.
- would have rather played at dave.

ta, I feel really proud of myself. Also what my girls don't realise is, they spend all my money every week, just this weekend instead of milling around in work, one of the boys can do it and I will get ratted.

Other: A nice day out up that Cardiff with the wife and kids. Bit of scran beforehand, few beers, and good for the kids to enjoy seeing the O's in the millstad and £50 for all of us isnt to shabby.

Re: JUDGEMENT DAY!!
Not a season ticket holder anymore down at Dave but I have said for sometime that I think this is a good idea and should at least be given a go.
I have been to the London double header at Twickenham at the start of their season and they pul a full crowd and its a great day, if we can get to that sort of atmosphere and crowd in the future then it will be great.
The ideal timing would be nearest Saturday to St Davids day but problem with that is it falls in the 6 nations window which means most of the big names would be with the Welsh squad.

Two Welsh derbies games this Saturday back to back at the Millenium Asbo. Dargons v Scarlets at 1430. Then Blues v Ospreys at 1715. Ticket lets u watch both games. The WRU have come up with the phrase/headline ' judgment day'. Looking forward to it...

Gotcha, thanks, Breadvan - will a full/nearly full stadium boost revenue for all 4 regions? That would be idealBreadvan wrote:Two Welsh derbies games this Saturday back to back at the Millenium Asbo. It's a boost revenue for Dragons and Blues as it's our home games As. Next season is the same, although we play Ospreys and Blues play Scarlets

Sounds like it will be an epic day out.
How long does it take to get from Newport to Cardiff by car/train?
Half an hour or a little bit more? It's not a huge distance to travel is it?
I can understand the diehard Dragons fans being a little put out by it - but really... it's still 'almost a home game', no?

The thing we often rely on is our atmosphere, which will be very diluted in what won't even be a full MS anyway. The travel isn't an issue no, as most people will love the day out in Cardiff. It would certainly be better for me, as it's a bit easier to get to Cardiff on the train than having to drive to Newport or scab a lift (although I am out of the country for it of course).
Not that the bear pit atmosphere makes a difference when the one eyed Turks come to town. They usually have our number at RP

Yeah, it's not the distance that's an issue, it's the fact that it's essentially a 'home' game at a neutral venue. But it should be a good occasion regardless of the result(s). I was hoping there'd be a 606v2 pub meet planned beforehand - any ideas, those who are going?

How well has this been promoted in Wales, is it something that just rugby fans know about, or has word spread so even the casual fan (only 6 nations Wales fan, and wouldnt really know much about regions) knows that this is on, and considering attending?

Would love to be there mate.
This is the Rabo, yeah? I can get it on Setanta but it's pay for view type of thing... or about $15/month but I'd get the HC, Aviva and all the World Cup qualifiers as well. May be worth getting?

You might be able to get it on Setanta, but for us here the first game's on BBC2 Wales and the second's on S4C.

Tickets are on sale in Tesco, and there was a huge carboard cutout of North in his Scarlets kit waving a flag with the four region badges on it and Judgement Day in huge letters below his feet. I assume it would be a different regional star in different Tescos. Also Real Radio have been running ads for a while, and most likely a fair few local radio stations have too.
However talking to someone who was at the MS last weekend, and he said there was no more, if not less, advertising about Judgement Day there than there was about Bruce Springstien having a gig there later on in the year (nex month I think). Whilst the MS is not just about rugby, you think they may have decided to ensure that they advertised Judgement Day around and inside the stadium as much as possible, especially when it was full of drunk and happy fans, who may just be tempted to return in a fortnights time for more beer/fun.

Re: JUDGEMENT DAY!!
Yeah... saturation advertising. A few signs and billboards in strategic places would pull more people in.
We've done it a few times here in the NRL. There were 104,000 there in the end. It was back in 1999 I think. The fans of all 4 clubs sort of come and go (or come and stay for the other match) and generally accommodate each other better at neutral venues.
Do the Blues have the biggest following or are they out-followed by the Ospreys and Scarlets? Their home advantage shouldn't be that decisive should it? Wouldn't the fact that it's being played in the 'National' stadium lift the O's, Scarlets and Dragons? (i.e. those 3 will have a bigger point to prove?)
You'll get 20-30,000 maybe for the first match... then building up to 60,000 to full capacity by the time the 2nd game kicks off.

I don't know, Valleyboy. I heard that they're not opening the top tier, but I suppose if all the other seats have sold and there's still demand for tickets, they might open the top tier as well.

Re: JUDGEMENT DAY!!
If anybody is interested the OSC (Ospreys Supporters Club) have made arrangements with the Great Western Pub (turn right when you come out of the railway station) to house us, I'm sure other teams will be welcome, and as for advertising this day, there has been a number of adverts on BBC1 highlighting these games, so for proper RUGBY supporters there is no excuse for missing these games. Tickets are £25 each or £50 for a family of 4 which must include 2 adults and 2 kids.

But not surprising knowing the WRU.
I just hope its given a chance as like said having been to the London double header its agreat day out.
A question for those who are going will you watch both matches or just the one involving your Region, I remember many years back when the Swalec semis were held there and Ebbw were playing Ponty (I think) and Llanelli v cant remember. Lots just went to watch their team rather than watch both games.

Bedford, the Os are leaving the Great Western at 2oClock to cheer on the Dragons in the first match for the obvious reasons.bedfordwelsh wrote:Luckless Pedestrian wrote:It would be typically dumb if they turned people away when there are seats sitting empty.

Wayne wouldn't it be better to actually cheer them on in person? It would lead to a fair better atmosphere in the stadium to have 30k+ cheering on the teams they want to win rather than two sets of 15k watching one match in the stadium, and one in a pub (granted paying far less for beer). If people only turn up for their match then tgese games may as well be played at Dave and Cap and the crowds would seem bigger.
