Re: Lions Wildcards
Pardon my ignorance but how would you define, in one phrase, a lions wildcard? I think I get the principle but would like clarification.

Re: Lions Wildcards
Christian Wade. He can create a score from nothing.
I also said Tom Youngs would go as a bolter last summer.

Ceri Sweeney, Tim Payne, Ian Balshaw...
Seriously though, there are the Armitages (Steffan especially) who might consider themselves a little unlucky, Gareth Delve too.

Moved this to the international section
I agree about S Armitage, there were calls for him in the England squad etc.
That said I really doubt that Delve stands any realistic chance as I have heard talk of an issue between him and Gats being responsible for him ending up playing for the Rebels. Although I wouldn't rule him out of being called up if there are and backrow injuries.

Well 8 isn't a position of strength IMHO, and he'll have real knowledge of the Aussie mindset, not to mention will be out there anyway...

Re: Lions Wildcards
i don't think back row is a postition to have a wild card because of the high level of class we have there, robshaw, warburton, tipric, SOB, Lydiate, wood, POM, Ferris etc if anywhere is going have a wild card its going be wing or centre so i think jonthan joseph, wade, may, and cory alan

Wing we have an embarrassment of riches, center and fullback no so much.

Re: Lions Wildcards
Wildcard is a curve ball selection that always seems to travel on lions tours, someone outside the general status quo of who should go, it seems part of the tour ethos..... the idea is like when a no hoper like a past it goran ivanisevic gets a wildcard selection for Wimbledon then wins the bloody thing...it adds excitment to the tour
Previous Wildcards i can remember...
Gordon Bullock
Keith Earls
Alan Quinlan (before he gouged)
For me our areas of potential weakness are inside centre and number 8. So my wildcards are Billy Vunipola and Billy Twelvetrees

Leigh Halfpenny was a wildcard call-up last time.
Nice to see the progression over the last 4 years.

A wildcard player is one nobody wants.
So the entire Welsh team might be considered wildcards in certain circles......

Re: Lions Wildcards
Still far and away the best 8 in the Prem, Nick Easter could well feature. Quins have one trophy already and are going for a treble.
No potential Lions 8s in the 6N stood out imo, though Johnnie Beattie had a decent tournament.
Gatland is leaning towards taking only two out and out 10s, with Sexton and Farrell believed to be in the 25 players the selectors have already decided on.
Launchbury made the cut as well if the journos are to be believed.
Players like POC, Bowe, Corbisiero and Ferris are to be monitored when they return from injury.

It's what it is boii, meaning it has absolutely nothing to do with what you seem to think it means. Relax, the world ain't out to get you.
