Is Tyson Fury for real?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/boxing/article-2299035/Tyson-Fury-criticises-practically-heavyweight-world-JEFF-POWELL-BOXING-COLUMN.html
There's confidence, and then there's just being plain stupid. I saw an interview where Fury said he's the best fighter in the world, as I say, there's confidence and then there's just being plain stupid. What the hell has he done to think he's the best fighter in the world!?
Had a decent scrap with an obese, out of shape Chisora that he hardly looked great in. Struggled in the first fight with Big John Mc, and that fight could easily have gone, J MC's way, and he's a domestic fighter at best. Also knocked down a few tomato can heavyweights, including ending up on the canvas in one fight. Yet he seems to believe he's the best heavyweight on the planet.
Wladimir would destroy him, beating him what ever way he wanted, long systematic beating, or could even get him out of their early. Even at 40 plus and not the fighter he was, Vitali would still beat Fury, and Haye would annihilate him within five rounds I'd say.
He needs someone to give him a reality check, and fast.

He as good as Francesco Pianeta (he's a taller orthodox British version of him).

"Wladimir would destroy him" applies to basically every heavyweight out there bar Vitali (and even then only because they won't fight).

Re: Is Tyson Fury for real?
I wouldn't read too much in to this. Just take it for what it is; Fury having a bit of a go because he likes to ruffle feathers and get people talking about him, even if it's negative!
Most fighters in Fury's position (ranked, in contention, but not quite at the top) will say that they're the best and that other guys are avoiding them, it's just that Mr Fury enjoys doing it in a slightly more aggressive and colourful manner!
As he said to us the other week on the podcast, most of what he says to the media is tongue in cheek, and the above is no different.

Amazing how many people take him seriously and get wound up by him. I think he's fairly limited as a fighter, but find him a bit of a character. Smarmy smug pants haye gets my goat far more.

Re: Is Tyson Fury for real?
I think we should enjoy personalities like Tyson Fury in Boxing. Yes he's crude, hit himself in the face, attempted an Ali Shuffle and got smacked and says things some people would cringe at...
But isn't that what makes Boxing a little more special than any other sport?
Imagine if every boxer had the personality of Wayne Rooney or Steven Gerrard!

Whilst he talks a lot of trash i.e. like 90% of boxers he has improved vastly from 2 years ago.
Whilst I don't see anything that would worry Wlad he would beat most other HW at prsent.
I'm sure he'll be a HW champ in the future but more down the poor standard than him being spectacular!

If he does become HW champ, will he go down as a better or worse one than David Haye?

Re: Is Tyson Fury for real?
IF Fury becomes HW Champ then his title reign will be worse than any that's ever existed in the history of HW boxing. If Fury wins it's because the K's have retired and if that's the case then the top ten in the HW division would have Eddie Hearn reluctant to put them in Prizefighter.

Cripes, imagine him and Wilder both doing the shuffle in a fight. They are both as coordinated as a new born gazelle.

I dont mind fury. I dont think he expects to be taken seriously. He says stuff for a laugh and to wind people up.

Any other boxer could have said what he did and nothing would be said or done about it. Just coz Fury said it, all of a sudden its an issue.

In fairness though, Az, who else out there aside from James Toney is going to hand out an appraisal like that about the current Heavyweights!?

Re: Is Tyson Fury for real?
People love to hate Fury. He used to annoy me, but its obvious its all tongue in cheek which is alright. Boxing needs trash talkers. The only issue I have with Fury is he seems really uncomfortable doing it sometimes, its like watching David Brent in The Office, I have to switch it off because I genuinely feel embarrased watching it haha
Re: Is Tyson Fury for real?
I think Fury was really rattled though when Price was getting all the attention. His outburst on C5 during the Degale fight showed he seemed a bit bitter
Re: Is Tyson Fury for real?
Which would explain why he seems a little more relaxed and happy to have fun with it now he's seen Price pancaked.

I don't see what he has to be happy or relaxed about. He's just seen £1m go bell up because Price is chinny.

He walked away from that cash, nobody to blame but himself there.

Re: Is Tyson Fury for real?
He would have lost way more than 1 million in potential future fights had Price got hold of him. Fury ain't exactly Carl Froch in the chin department and Price hits hardly than any of the trash Fury has been in with.

Not a chesnut. Or even an acorn. But a huge oak tree of truth that'll live long after Fury and Price's careers expire.....

And we all know how price is when a slap lands. I'd pick Calzaghe to bowl him over

Calslappy has more power than the guy that already bowled Fury over...

Yeah, get a feeling it's who lands first to be honest, can't see either of them taking right hands from each other all night Morales and Barrera like can you?

Not really a fair benchmark Az, according to Gordy Joe could have beaten the Klitschkos, he just chose to retire and go on Strictly Come Dancing instead.

He's happy the Price fight is no longer being called for. He didn't wanna get knocked out.
