Well Done wales at the HK 7s
Here is a little highlight of Cory Allen's beautiful "Show 'n Go" in the final.

Hong Kong Sevens 2013: brave Wales lose to Fiji in pulsating Cup final as England take Bowl
So close, so agonisingly close for Wales as they almost overcame hefty odds to beat favourites, Fiji, in their first HSBC world series final.
Controversy: Lee Williams of Wales is spear tackled by Ilai Tinai of Fiji Photo: AP

They led 19-0 at half-time but in a lung-bursting second period were undone by the brilliance of Fiji substitute Osea Kolinisau, whose hat-trick settled matters 26-19. It was gripping, rousing stuff under floodlights in a packed stadium. The 38th Hong Kong Sevens ended in style.
After the heroics of the Six Nations, it looked like being quite some week for Welsh rugby. Long-striding Cory Allen was a revelation, his two first-half tries seemingly setting his side up for a historic triumph.
But the Fijians are masters of the abbreviated game, claiming a record 14th title here after accounting for runaway series leaders New Zealand in the semi-final.
England were consigned to the third-tier Bowl final here where they beat hosts Hong Kong 42-7. Two tries came from John Brake and one each from Mike Ellery, Rob Vickerman, Dan Norton and Sam Edgerley. Wales’s opening pool wins over Australia and Argentina were enough to see them through to the main competition quarter-final where they beat Canada 28-14. Allen was a powerful presence while the deft touches of Alex Webber and Lee Williams came to the fore in the 19-0 semi-final victory over Kenya.
The 19 points Wales received for finishing runners-up gives them a boost in the HSBC World Series rankings with three legs remaining in Japan, Glasgow and London. Wales are defending World Cup champions and their progress here will set them in good stead for the World Cup in Moscow in June.

Maes,I posted on this but it seems that folk are more interested in bigging up their favourites for Lions selection!
We had a favourable draw in Hong Kong but the boys played really well apart from the "dead" match against SA.
Another inconsistent tip tackle decision. This needs sorting sharpish before the Olympics when Rugby will be under global scrutiny.More and more refs are overly involved in effectively affecting which side wis or loses on a whim.

Very well done by Wales.
It has been a weird 7s series so far. 6 Rounds and 5 different winners. Fiji only team to win more than once - yet they have not made any other finals. England have been absolute tosh, except for winning in NZ.
Kenya and France have also made finals - to make that 8 different sides appearing in the various finals. The Olympics could be interesting.

Crazy to see us let fiji back in to the game, but they are masters of the game.
Was a favourable draw for Wales, we need it once in a while.
Still a great finale. Cory Allen was given Try of the Tournament for the link above.

Don't want to gripe, but that guy should have went for the spear tackle. The sub that the Fijians was electric against the heavy legs of the Welsh team. Cory Allen looking tidy. Really keen to see where him and Patch are in 2/3 years time.

The final was a great game to watch, Fiji gave a bit of a master class in that second half.
I have never been to HK for the 7's, its very much on my to-do list, it looks awesome.
Really good to see the non 15's big teams doing well too. Kenya have been around for a while, but the likes of Portugal look pretty decent too.

I love "dead" matches, we seem to win a lot of those.

Re: Well Done wales at the HK 7s
Havn't seen todays games, who did what guys?
I saw yesterdays mind, lets not get into Wales!!!
Regarding last week, that Fiji side were very inexperienced, and both teams were lucky to reach the final. Fiji should've lost a man first half for good, and Wales shouldn't have let them back in.
Lets not compare this Fiji team to the one of old though, they are shockingly bad with the odd flash of brilliance!!

Well done Wales, such an open year in 7s, can't wait for 2016 and hope post RWC we see a couple of more suitable 15s stars there- likes of Varndell or Wade perhaps?

Both have been there, and arguably made their name in 7s. Ben Ryan (if still in charge) probably won't be tempted to go outside his usual squad for 2016.
