Bitter ex-fighters - Nothing more sad !!
Read a list written in 2007 of Sir Henry Cooper's top 10 Brits written in 2007..........Unbelievably he had Mcguigan above Lewis......and of course in his description of Lewis he put "Of course it's much easier to win titles thee days than it was in mine....."
Bob Foster was another one who bemoaned the youngsters of the day........and his place..
At the end of the day you are where you are in life and deal with it......My Old man offered me two bits of advice..... If you can't do anything about a problem don't bother worrying about it!!...2. Never marry a limey......

Is this article some type of analogy to a bitter wife after divorce?

Our 'enry would have benefitted from the cruiserweight division being in place back then, he was a very small heavy.

Our 'Enry would still have had to contend with two other small heavyweights for the cruiserweight title in Johansson and Patterson, both of whom nailed him to the canvas when they fought.
Surely Larry Holmes is the ultimate proof that the older some ex-fighters become, the less they should be allowed to venture an opinion on their successors. Holmes at least had the merit of consistency - he was bitter during his prime and has scarcely mellowed since - but if he is still given less than his due in certain quarters, he really has no-one to blame but himself.

Ken was always quite bitter when he was a fighter - felt that he had no support from the BBBC, that there was a conspiracy to do him down, etc. McIlvanney writes well of the chip on his shoulder and how it was that quality that, paradoxically, helped to turn him into such an excellent fighter.
He was always bitter about the Duran ending, of course, and would have wanted a rematch with Duran on any day. He'd have lost, of course, but the sense of injustice about how he lost his title is still with him, I believe. Complex lad, Ken, but generous with his time to younger fighters in a way that is apparently quite beyond Ole Big Pants, for example.

Joe Frazier was a little bitter towards Ali, and who can blame him? Years of being ridiculed, called an Uncle Tom etc must hurt.

Hagler's bitterness pertains to one fight...and he rarely airs his grievance...

The late Carman Basillio was very bitter towards the greatest fighter of them all in SRR, called him arrogant and put Willie Pep before him in the greatest boxers list.

Basilio kicked his butt ...which might have resulted in him putting him lower.
