Return of the Movie Cup 2013 - participants wanted

Hi all,

After the success of the GOAT thread by MtotheC, I thought I would resurrect another old favourite - the v2 Movie Cup.

I am looking for participants to take part for the next few weeks, to see who will be named the Movie Cup winner 2013.

The way te competition is as follows. All people who want to take part get given a topic each week. They then nominate secretly their film for that week and all nominees are put up in a poll for the whole board to vote on. The winner gets 10 points, whoever comes in second gets 8 etc

So for example, if this weeks category was Denzel Washington films, contestant A might nominate Glory, Contestant B nominates Crimson Tide etc....


In the first instance, I just need to get at least 5 people to take part with a maximum of 12 people (first come first served). If you want to take part, each week, there will be two rounds (one on a Tuesday, one on a Friday).

There will 10 rounds all together, so it will take 5 weeks in total. At the end of each round, we will reveal who had the winning nomination.

The scoring is as follows:

1st place - 10 points
2nd place - 8 points
3rd place - 6 points
4th place - 4 points
5th Place - 2 points
6th Place - 1 point

Might as well get started - the poll will go up tomorrow leaving any last minute entries.

AS this is week 1, I will ask you for your nominations for the first 2 weeks, that way when the poll closes, I can put up the next one immediately.

So what I need for the people who have entered is a PM from you with 2 nominations for each category in case there are any duplicates.

Could you also write a quick reason for your nomination (no more than 100 words please/ 2/3 sentences)

So Round 1 is - Sports movies
Round 2 is films starring Sylvester Stallone

So what I need is (as an example):

Nomination 1 - Over the Top - Amzing performance from Sly as a pro arm wrestler who is fighting to win his sons love. Emotional stuff that deserves repeat viewing.

(just realised that qualifies for either of the rounds!)
