As I say, I imagine its more a relegation release clause. Whether that applies if he wasnt part of the club when it was relegated is probably due a court battle.

Well he's coming to us no matter what division we're in, as the Chief Exec has stated on twitter before.

Apparantly we've already paid a sum up front to help Sporting pay the wages for the rest of the season

Tbh, I think he only took the move in the first place so he could try and fire his way into the Dutch squad by the greater exposure of the PL.

Soddy, how was the match? I missed it as I was at footie from 8-9:30.
Read we weren't great, Kagawa played well, Diame scored a cracker.
Ive seen RVP's goal, Kagawa did well to get his shot off.

Decent game, much how I expected it would be. You guys weren't great but we weren't confident enough to try and kill you off. We got Diame's goal (which was a cracker, yes) and then sat back and allowed you to run the game. Fair result in the end I think.

Carrick was again your best player, and Vidic and Ferdinand spent much of the game complaining about Carroll. Love that guy.

Carroll has been too much for teams for a couple of weeks now.

I still don't know what Matty Taylor was doing late on. A bit of composure and he could have tried to slip a team mate in or take on the defender but instead he blasted the ball a million miles over the bar from 30 yards away.

Exactly that. I don't like the bloke, personally I think hes a waste of space. He could be an absolute beast, yet he only wants to play when its time to put himself in the shop window.

I don't think it's down to being in a shop window, he's had a disrupted season with injuries. When he's played he's been fantastic, and I think he's come to really enjoy the club and the way we play.

I'd love to see him stay but I don't know how possible it is. I had this debate with my mate last night - he was saying we should sign Bony but I wanted Carroll instead. Proven in the PL, and in the style we play.

I would pay it. Having seen his domination of some tough defenders then I think he's worth that sort of money, so long as he stays fit.

If Carroll can stay fit, he's worth the £35m Liverpool paid. He's a colossus, and virtually unplayable if you play to his strengths. But Liverpool didn't, and he struggled for fitness at West Ham - just look at him now, fit, firing and downright dangerous. There is no other player in the country like him.

Not £35m, that was an extreme panic buy that I will never understand.
£17-20m is about right though.

If you get a corner into the box in his vague direction, he will win the ball. Azzy is right, you can't stop him getting there because he is so physically dominant.

I wouldn't give Liverpool an easy out at 17m. Everyone knows they aren't going to keep him around realistically, and they'll have to take what they cann get in the end.

Gave Terry a touch time in the FA Cup final when L'pool finally stuck him on. Id imagine as a CB hes a bugger to play against.
He does suit West Ham's style. I have to agree with GSC though, 10m is too much. Id say hes around the £6-8m bracket.
Cant see L'pool wanting to take on that much of a loss.

Apart from the far apart glimpses of the ability to be a beast of a striker I havent been impressed with him since he came into the Premier League with Newcastle.

Who can you get for £35m up front:

Leandro Damiao
Carlos Tevez
Wayne Rooney

Out of those four, give me a fit Andy Carroll any day. Mainly because you'll never get a fit Rooney or Tevez Wink

I'd never spend £35m on him, I just mean that if you treat him right, he can be worth £35m to you. He's got the potential to be better than Les Ferdinand ever was, and he was a great PL striker.
