Carroll at least has the potential to stay fit for the remainder of his career, unlike Fatso Rooney or Six-month Charlie Tevez. A fit Carroll is a constant menace.

Given a choice between Carroll for £17m, or Schurrle for £22m, I'd be taking Carroll and spending the other £5m on another player (maybe RVW once Norwich go down?)

Yes, pure quality

For 22m you get a versatile player who can play in a few attacking positions well

For 17m you get a player who can only excel in one role, in one system, on the rare occasion when hes not carrying some kind of niggle

We're not getting anywhere, you'd rather have Hazard- than Ferdinand+. That's your call.

On a different note, the BBC has a story on Cardiff's plans to spend £25m on players this summer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22194334

It notes this:

- Chairman Vincent Tan has financed the club with loans of nearly £70m
- By the end of the season, the club's debts are set to total £100m
- Former chairman Sam Hammam is set to receive £5m from the club's promotion

That is a scandal, pure and simple.

The bit about Sam Hammam getting £5m as Cardiff got promotion seems fair. The value of the club is higher if it's a Premier League side, so a clause in the sale of the club would have been that an extra £5m is paid if promotion is gained to compensate for the rise in value.

The rest just sums up what's wrong with modern (MOD£RN) football.

I would. To an extent of course, but changing Cardiff's kit colour and nickname isn't on the same level as picking up a club and moving it to Milton Keynes, or anything stupid like that.

Crawley Town were yesterday linked with a Saudi Oil company, if they said we want you to play in Green and White (Saudi colours) and rename the stadium after their company, if the result was big investment and success I wouldn't be overly bothered. And I am a big fan of my club and it's history. These people don't change history, they change the present and future.

The biggest scandal is still West Ham getting a huge stadium on the taxpayer

Apparently red is a 'lucky' colour in Asia, hence why he demanded the change from blue to red. It wasn't to do with marketing (although looking like United will definitely help!)

How the authorities can keep allowing these 'rich' businessmen to buy clubs with loans is astonishing. The Glazers, the Liverpool dudes, the guy who bought Man City, this guy, the Birmingham guy, the Pompey guy, the Notts County guy...all 'bought' with loans rather than cash, and it either works (Glazers) or it doesn't (Pompey and Blues). It's a disgrace, imagine me trying to loan McDonalds a fiver so I could take a Big Mac meal for free.

you forgot that Azzy guy who bought FC No Respek with loans he was the biggest crook of them all

Aha yeah, I blame the Spanish Bank for that. They had zero % interest on their loans, so I took their money and bought players using it

We're missing Viva, Trebs and Afro methinks. Only so much hay can be made out of Winifred Bony.

Tbh the league is dying, u can tell. Needs a reboot after this season, dunno what road to go down tho

Possibly, limiting TPs may be a start because they tend to take away from domestic dealings. Problem being people end up with players they hand picked and often don't want to trade away...

That was mooted previously, cherries and it's an option.

I think we are starting to struggle to keep up with everything since Afro took his leave. We're already a manager down in the PL, maybe two, with Olly possibly going.

No struggling at all, just like to see a more changenging aspect of a small budget and average players

Similar to cherries' idea really. Would take some setting up, and I'm not sure I'm the man to do it...

It needs a core of people really committed to start afresh - I think we might be missing the numbers. Is Viva even around any more? What happened to Olly? Why is Trebs always away these days?

depends what level of players you want really

Viva - is otherwise occupied
Trebs - has Uni, will likely have free time in the summer?
Olly - college stuff, again maybe freer in summer

We might just have to ice the league for a while until people are recharged.

We just need regular users.

Im still here, im always here during work hours in fact. Just not that bothered anymore. My teams done. Realistically I cant improve it much more with the money I have, no one will sell best players myself included. So I speak for myself when I say there isnt much to do now but hand tactics in & vote.

Banter isnt the same as the good old days so I dont bother getting involved. I cant even be bothered to say silly things to cause entertainment anymore, thats where im at.

I think icing the league is another way of saying 'restart it soon'. I'm not even involved anymore, but I still care

Maybe take all the squad, split players by position then allocate to 2 GKs, 4 CBs or something

Im not in any other leagues.......yet? I dont know. As I said above, im not overly bothered anymore. The daily banter was what was most enjoyable but thats been ruined so thats why I dont care now.

I will get tactics & votes in as usual. If we start again then I will help set up

I think the banter is what keeps a league going. The start is always great but tails off

Or you could do a one-by-one draft, so you get 10mins to sign a player from TM, then the next person, then the next person, until you all have a squad that fits under the limit. That could stretch over a week - two weeks.

Or make a rule that means you HAVE to make an inter-league deal every week, no get-arounds like swapping the same players week after week.

I think it's down to regularity of users, GSC. We had far more chatter on here when people were on more regularly.
