The end of season league one topic
Bury relegated today. Club also in danger of going bust, need to find some money before the end of the month or there done i think.
So sad times there. Wonder if Kevin Blackwell will pack the job in.

Pompy are basically gone, but least they are in business under the fans, and can rebuild at a level better suited to start from afresh.

Bury is run by idiots, no wonder they're in a mess! Feel sorry for the fans, hope they dont go bust but doesn't look good.
They made our game with them yesterday pay on the day even though its 15 mins away and a big relegation battle for both of our teams. We turned up filled the stand (2100) and then another 200-500 locked outside (a couple of my mates included). The stand at the side had a couple hundred bury fans which they could have moved to one side and put the locked out fans on the other side with police, stewards in the middle but no they told them to leave. Apparently the police said they would have done this but Bury said no and now Bury have said the police said no!
They knew we would turn up in numbers has we always have even taking nearly 1500 on a Tuesday night with nothing to play for. I can't believe they didn't have a contingency plan in place.
Anyway we got the 3 points needed. 2 points clear of Scunny with a game in hand. I think it will go down to the last game (we have Orient away) for who will take the last spot for relegation. Looks like us or Scunny.

Congratulations to Bournemouth on promotion and to Eddie Howe after a very difficult personal year. Buzzing for Tommy Elphick and Steve Cook, too lads who came through the Brighton youth team. Elphick apart of our league one title wining season. Shame we couldn't see more of Cook. However im happy both players will be at the AMEX next season, in what should be a good game.
Portsmouth despite being relegated, the financial problems are over (i hope) and they can build onto better things. Perfect day in the sun for them on Saturday beating Sheffield United 3-0. However league 2 football next season, but hopefully that's the end of dropping down the leagues.

That was close! Incredible to think 46 games of football hinge on one kick of the ball!

Appears Doncaster have won the League 1 title with that late late goal as well. Eat your heart out Man City.

Re: The end of season league one topic
Reminded me of when we (Oldham) won the championship with Neil Redfearn scoring last min pen to beat sheff wed 3-2. West Ham where all on their pitch celebrating winning the league because they finished a few mins earlier thinking they'd won the league haha. They even had the trophy at their ground, no one expecting little Oldham to do anything. We where promoted to the first season of the premiership! Founder members lol

Re: The end of season league one topic
Sounds like one of the best moments ever in football for Doncaster fans. A complete once in a life time moment and "I was there" moment. Congrats to them all. Amazing.
So Doncaster and Bournemouth playing Championship football next season, happy for both clubs.
The play offs should be very interesting in league one this season. I still want Brentford to come up i think, as i love terraces. Yeovil is a nice away game and i have a lot of family down that way.
Scunthorpe relegated. They were always punching above there weight with Nigel Adkins in charge. They have never had a lot of supporters and money, but good luck to them in league 2.

Brentford vs Yeovil today.
Im happy for both clubs in the play off final today. Yeovil is who some of my family support, i have some family down that way. However ill be rooting for Brentford, i love the terrace with a passion and there terrace is quality and its only up the road, and they have a pub on every corner of the ground! So Brentford is who ill be cheering on. I also think Gary Johnson is a bit of a bell end.

I remember when Yeovil were a giant slaying non league cup team. Amazing how far they have come in the last few years.
I fancy Brentford to win today mind. 2-1.

Re: The end of season league one topic
Yeovil were in the play off final back in 2007, under Sir Russel Slade. They lost 2-0 to Blackpool. Since then they have just had relegation battles and mid table finishes. Now Johnson has returned they have been turned into a promotion chasing team. Like Olly said they also play some decent football.

Brentford should win, it's pretty much a home game for them anyway. But I want Yeovil to win, Frak Brentford.

First Blood to Yeovil!!!
Fantastic finish by Paddy Madden. That is why he is the top scorer in the league, held his nerve there. Superb finish.
Both sides hoofing it way to much for my liking. Play football!!!!

For sides who can't pass. I.e. play football the right way.

But sometimes teams like Brighton/Liverpool/Swansea will just pass it for the sake of it.
A balance between directness and passing needs to be struck, and the best teams can do that

10 years ago, Yeovil were in the Football Conference. Now they're just 75 minutes away from the Championship. Will be a great achievement if they do it.

Andy D'Urso is a terrible referee.
Honestly the worst one I've ever seen.
What on earth is he doing in charge of this game

Andy D'Urso is a terrible ref. He has screwed Brighton over on countless of occasions.
Game is starting to get better and there both playing the ball around well now. Brentford been the better side i would say this half. But nothing to show for it.

Yeovil 2-0 Brentford!!!
Brentford have been the better side this half without question but there now 2-0 down. Poor defending from that corner and its probably cost them the game.
Agreeing with Duty, what a fantastic moment this could be for Yeovil town football club. Looks like the other half of my family, will be having one heck of a drinking session tonight!

Half time.
I wouldn't rule out Brentford, they have come from behind a lot this season and have some very good players. So the 2nd half will be an interesting one. Also they were probably the better side that half. But fair play to Yeovil.
