Who should be the new 20 20 captain?
Cook right choice? and next T20 captain?
Following on from the chat was Cook the right choice for one day captain and who do you think should be the new T20 captain? (which will be announced tomorrow). This threads also to follow on and debate tomorrow if you think England have made the right decision or not.
Re: Cook right choice? and next T20 captain?
Personally I think Strauss should've stayed on.
He's had the best phase of the ODI career in the last 12-18 months.
T20 leader should be KP or Broad

Personally i don't think that Cook is a bad choice, but i would have
gone for Bell.
The T20 captain i agree with Broad.

Are the readying Cook for Test captaincy? If so, it shows where England management rank ODis, which means there is a good chance the misery will continue in big comps.

I'd like to see Anderson giving a shot at the test role but ever since Flintoff there seems to be a stigma attached to bowlers being captains.
I think Steve Davis for ODi's and Broad for 20/20.

Apologies, my wording was pretty ambiguous in my original post.
I know that Cook is next in line for Test captain, but I was wondering is this their way of doing it by letting him captain in the 'lesser' form of the game to prepare him for the big leagues so to speak.

I'll be pretty shcoked if the selectors stick with Prior in the OD format.

Re: Cook right choice? and next T20 captain?
according to the BBC, Cook has been named ODI captain and Broad is the T20 skipper.
Interesting is my first thought, it seems they're grooming Cook to eventually take over the test captaincy. To be fair, he hardly has an awful record in ODI cricket and seems to have improved his game in the shorter format for Essex, so maybe this will work. Broad is an interesting one, remember reading in Strauss's autobiography that he skippered his team in a practice match once, and Strauss seemed impressed by it. Also recall that Michael Vaughan was backing him for the job, and he certainly knows a thing or two about captaincy. It could be a good choice, maybe the extra responsibility will help him mature.
I'd have loved to see Swann captaining the side though, think he'd have been great.

Agree with Broad, don't agree with Cook.
Think KP was never gonna be in with a shot, he's too interested in his own hype to be trusted.

Sweet idea Hobo. It'd be great to get some of the 606 cricket lads (and lasses) over here.

No-one think Trott could do the job? Cook's played in 3 ODI's since November 2008, if he isn't good enough to normally be in the squad how can he be captain?

Cook has done well with the bat but his captaincy has been awful.
