Haye calls out Fury
First topic message reminder :
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/boxing/4901591/David-Haye-ready-to-fight-Tyson-Fury.html
I think this must be fact as the article actually quotes Booth. There are several other sites with this story, and it does not surprise me a bit!
This is confirming for me as least that the Heavyweight division Uk is more about the "characters" as a selling point. I bet if David Price hadn't lost, he would not be in this mix. Too risky and not enough of a "character" to sell the fight and make big money.
This is simply another wonderful opportunity for David to make a stack more money. He is better as a raw talent, far far better. But, the money is there. What a tart!
Due to the state of the division, Fury is ranked in the top 10 ( which he will say justifies it ), and just had an entertaining fight where he got knocked right down by a former cruiserweight. Whatever the purists say, the fight has and continues to be talked about, not least as Cunningham is appealing the knockout as being illegal ( quite possibly! ). Whatever, Tyson Fury is inFURIating, arrogant, oddly charismatic and very self assured - superb for a marketing PR exercise. He cannot possibly hope to actually outbox Haye, and his only chance is landing a big one - which means David, being much much faster in his reactions, effectively has to make a mistake. David is surely far too ring smart to allow Fury to lean on him and dominate. I actually think a well placed body shot by Haye could have Fury in trouble.
The buildup will be crazy - the tweets, u tube postings, all modern day panto and the public LOVE it!!
David gets to fight a really big bloke in preparation for Vitali, and his stock will rise if he wins well as the German TV companies will be literally screaming at the K's team to do this regardless of how credible the fight in real terms actually is.
Will Fury ( or more pointedly his team ) actually accept the challenge for Haye before he can try for Vladimir or Vitali?
Is this good for HW boxing? - is there really a viable alternative and does this mean to get people interested and large viewing figures we need style over substance?

Haye inside 3. Miss-match. Fury's power is severely over-rated, his defense sucks and his offense is only slightly better. Haye will make mince meat out of him.
Should Haye have thrown the shot that Cunnningham caught him with then Fury wouldn't have got back up (or he would have but been pummeled on returning to his feet)

Fury to destroy Haye in the twitter exchanges, steam roller him in the ring and pave the way for a world title tilt.
Haye's got no defence against the forearm to the throat, sucker punch attack.
I have to confess Tyson Fury is my second favourite boxer behind Chunky DeGale.

Re: Haye calls out Fury
Would love this, would be a circus!
From Fury's point he would probably get more money from this fight than if he were to win a title and defend it a few times, making this a no-brainer, which in his case is probably a good thing. He would also be still young and having only one loss on his ledger when the Klitscho's retire.
Haye would again generate a lot of cash and be taking very little risk.
Fury seems to have very good powers of recovers (which is lucky as he leaves himself so open) and it would be interesting to see how many times he could get back up after Haye has hit him.
The pre-fight nonsense would be interesting and I think Fury would win this, some of his comments are completely daft but I do find myself quite liking him despite myself. Haye always seems forced and I have the feeling he would end up looking like the bad guy in the build up as well.
For me it would be a Haye KO around round 5 as at the moment I think Fury would bounce back up a few times and cuddle through a few early scrapes.

Fury holds all the chips, why give Haye another lifeline to a big money fight.
Fury should keep going on his path to a big fight with a Klitschko.
He doesn't need to get involved with an absolute messer like Haye.
Haye should be frozen out by all the contenders. Let him fight Wlad again, just to confirm the first Chicken Run was the real Haye when faced with a proper opponent.

I'm not sure if there was a title involved there would be much more interest worldwide, feel this would just be a big British fight and Fury would have to win a title first. No guarantee that would happen and after a loss the fight would be worth less.

Lol classicly predictable post. Compared to the K's, Fury holds no cards. And, as someone else pointed out, he'd probably get even less money for an even less winnable fight than v Haye.
And in terms of who's holding what chips/cards between Haye and Fury, their rankings are as follows:
WBC: Fury 5 Haye 6
WBA: Fury 1 Fury (not placed)
IBF: Fury 8 Haye 4
WBO: Fury 5 Haye 4
So of the 4 governing bodies, the only one that ranks Fury higher is the WBC, which Haye is known to have a strong relationship with and are money grabbing swines that'll buckle to the most cash. Which means Haye also.
Until the Cunningham fight Haye was also bigger n better known that side of the pond too, at best it's now even. So I don't think Fury really holds any cards/chips over Haye at all.

Haye needs Fury more than Fury needs him.
I just don't get all the Fury hate. You guys should get behind your Great British Hope. One who fights regularly and backs up his words in delivering exciting fights.
Unless that is you guys prefer your humble chinny scouse. The great british Dope.
Or Haye who fights once a millenia.

I don't really think they need each other at all. It isn't a UK match up that the country is clamouring for plus they both have plenty of other opportunities amongst the also rans and mediocrity that are bunching up behind K2. Plenty of money to be made for both of them without facing each other in the ring. I just think Haye sees it as one of the better paid fights out their as well as one of the lowest risk ones for him. Whether either of these statements are true is currently a matter of opinion and I do not expect it to be resolved into fact any time soon.

Until either fighter comes out and publicly states they want this fight we should concentrate on more important matters like how universally respected Joe Calzaghe is

Fury is the one on the up. Haye needs to beat a legit contender. He can't talk his way into a mega fight with Fury. He has to earn the right.

It's a massive fight with two of the most talked about HWs in the world. The Yanks love Fury. He went down well (pun intended) against Cuningham. Haye is a busted flush but big in UK. He sells. Fury sells. The build up would be worth it anyway. It would be a great fight.
Haye KO 2.

If it happens I can see it going exactly the same as Haye vs Macarinelli, Fury might land first & give Haye something to think about but first mistake he makes & Haye catches him he wont let him off.
Haye knows exactly what to do when he hurts his opponent
Bad fight for Fury & I think he'll only take it if he gets a belt first, can't see that happening anytime soon either

Re: Haye calls out Fury
Fury has all the physical advantages. Cunningham was very durable given that was the first time he's been stopped. Haye is vulnerable and been decked like a porn star often.
The one advantage Haye holds is speed and power. Problems for a chinny Fury. Haye will have to press the action also. The first round would be a feel out process with Haye circling outside waiting for openings. In the 2nd round those openings will be capitalised on. But it wouldn't surprise me if Haye is wobbled as Fury is not shy in letting his punches go.
In all Haye will bowl him over in 2 and then wait for 14 months before he fights again, calling out Vitali in the process.
Hope Fury wins. Better for boxing than an absent fighter.

Well, speed and power are physical advantages, so Fury clearly doesn't have 'all' of them. And if there were 3 physical attributes I could pick in a boxer they'd be 2. A chin would be the other, where Fury and Haye seem roughly equivalent having both been dropped by cruiserweights.

Re: Haye calls out Fury
Haye def has advantage over Fury with speed, power & experience.
If Fury had the skill he could use his height/weight advantage like Wlad did (toe aside haha) but he doesn't & will never have skill like Wlad.
As Fury is the self styled "ultimate fighting man" he will try and trade with Haye & get himself KO'd early, like Enzo.
Bad fight for Fury, he knows it & it wont happen anyway.
Actually think Hughie in a couple of years would be fair better against Haye, if Haye's still around by the time Hughie's ready

Fair enough Hibbz,
I think they tend to be the things which the more casual fan looks for so can see why you enjoy both, although DeGale has toned it down a heck of a lot after being shown up by George Groves.
Personally I find both incredulous and whilst Fury can be funny at times the fact that he comes out with a lot of crass remarks puts me off him.
I have never met the guy in real life, though from what I have seen on Twitter and heard from others he is a bit of you know what away from the camera's as well.
I get the fact that hype sells as does trash talk but for me personally if a boxer is like that in real life I don't have much time for them....probably why I like Haye due to the fact I have met him and spoke to him in person and he is nothing like the character he portrays in the build up to fights.

Don't get me wrong Owen, Fury doesn't make me laugh because I think he's genuinely witty I think it's as you say I'm more incredulous about the stuff he comes out with.
His boxing style (to my uneducated eyes) is pretty lumbering and dull too, though I did enjoy the Wetherspoonsesque move with which he won his last fight.
DeGale seems reasonably bright and although I was very disappointed with his loss to Groves I really enjoy watching him box and am hopeful there may be some good days ahead.

Is Haye vulnerable? Stopped on his feet after gassing badly. Wlad hit him with some good shots and didn't make a dent.
Fury doesn't hit anywhere near as hard as Wlad and is far less accurate. Haye via a swift KO.

Haye has been bounced a few times. Once by a SMW. I ignor the gassing episode. Down to lack of experience.

If the fight goes ahead Haye will stop Fury in 5, he is too fast too strong and too evasive for Fury. I dont like it when the word "school" is used in boxing, but i think really is going to give Fury a boxing lesson, and make him look stupid. I think Fury and Hennesy both know this, hence im not getting my hopes up for this fight actually happening.

It's no great surprise that they know it. Haye is a seasoned pro. Fury is still a relative novice.
