Best ever second row
Best ever second row
Second Rows, also known as Locks are usually the tallest players in the rugby team, and the primary line-out jumpers. They also provide the extra push in the scrum.
Big guys, but who do you rate the highest?
The top two will go through to the dream team - please vote for your top two choices.

No Ackford or Dooley? Ackford was VERY underrated in my opinion

ah, such a tough choice, went for Eales in the end.
One question though, no Victor Matfield? I reckon he'd have to be up there with some of the best!

Has Davie come on to a poll yet and not complained about an omission! That is my list - suck it up big boy!
Re: Best ever second row
Funny you used to ask for extra names to be suggested. Looks to me like you just picked most of your list from Wiki anyway :p

I will use that for the next poll!

Matfield is a serious omission, as is POC. And sorry, but Beaumont and Dooley, whilst fine players, are out of place on that list.
Eales and Johnno for me.
Eales and Johnno for me.

Dooley and Beaumont were both hugely influential *in their own era* though don't stack up against modern players. Ackford was slightly more in the mould of the current crop of players

Eales/Johno
Johno/Eales
Gah too tough to choose between the two really. Very different players, both legends, captained their team to pretty much ever honour imaginable (including of course World Cup glory).
Heck, going with Johnson out of sheer bias .

Had to go for John Eales because as good as he was just could'nt vote for Johnno.

Was Johnson really that great a lock. I thought he was an excellent player but wasn't it really his captaincy that made the difference?
