Floyd Mayweather vs Pacquiao in the UK - a possibility?
Probably unrealistic but here me out
Floyd has said many times he wants to fight in england
now manny's camp are saying
"We remember, when we fought Ricky Hatton, the reception that we got when we came to London to do the press tour," Koncz added. "Manny and I have talked about it, we want to fight in different countries and London is certainly an option.
"We'd like to end up, before Manny retires, fighting in England."
Read more at http://www.espn.co.uk/espn/sport/story/205430.html#wPkk3ZPgZqY6B6Hz.99
Any chance of it happening?, if manny gets couple of wins? - drug test - no longer a issue, with pacs stock dropping money split may not be either.

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Pacquiao in the UK - a possibility?
No............It's a bigger fight in the States kid...........That's where the market is....
Primetime in America to satisfy the wage demands...............
Which won't be satisfied because Manny won't give Marquez 50/50 for a 5th fight!!
Only way Mayweather fights here is against Khan!!!!!!!! and even that is more likely in America..........
That's where the money is!!
May-Manny in England makes no sense logistically..

I reckon Mayweather vs any top ten fighter would sell out wembley in a heart beat.
Mayweather is loved over here and to walk out in front of 90 thousand fans plus over a million PPV buys??
Not to mentions sponsorships etc.
I think he could get more in the Uk

But what time would a fight start here.................The PPv buys are in America!!
Don't forget Hatton-Mayweather was in America and that was a huge Brit star...
Marketing, logistics wise, fan wise.........Inconceivable to hold it here....TV wise..etc.

Maybe they are but if it's on a Saturday night in uk say around 11pm, that would make it late afternoon stateside on a weekend.
I still reckon it could generate millions even still in th US, but the initial money for mayweather would be huge filling out a stadium.
The UK fans are probably the most passionate and loudest fans, mayweather would love it.

These two are huge figures in America............Where all the money is and where the biggest Boxing market is..........
They can go on MSNBC, NBC, FOX etc..............All the promotional tools are back home..........
Outside the British Boxing market they have little traction these two with the Brit sporting fan.......
Fail to see why they'd risk not filling a stadium here and risk losing American PPv buys...........
Doesn't make sense.........
Made more sense with Hatton.............and he fought in the States..
There are 3 and 1/2 million Filipino Americans alone...
Can't ignore that market as well.

I'd buy a Mayweather ticket if he were fighting in the MEN or Echo even if he was facing someone I'd never heard of, just to be part of the event.

Likewise.
I spent £150 on two froch tickets against bute.
I'd pay th same for just one ticket to see money may strut his stuff on uk soil.

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Pacquiao in the UK - a possibility?
If Mayweather were to fight over here, Khan or Brook would be the only options... Brook isn't a name in the states like Khan but is a solid Welterweight.
A Khan fight would sell well over here but would have limited fanfair in the US. I doubt very much Khan would go to Welterweight any time soon either.
Although Mayweather states he'd love to fight here, I think it's all fart and no poo.

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Pacquiao in the UK - a possibility?
Gievn Khan's last outing, Mayweather would pick him for the easy night's work and massive payday. However, if he wasn't an actual contest, I'd be tempted to choose Brook who seems far more durable, fast hands, heavy hitter and the chances are, it would sell out anyway.
No way Manny's coming out of the flippin Flipinns to fight again. No way Floyd goes over there so let's dismiss all talk of them via unless it's via Xbox live

am not saying it's a probability - just saying its possible, Floyd fights where he wants to fight, if he really wants to like he says he does, then he will fight in the UK - but whether he actually wants to or not is a different question

The ppv in the US would not be affected by mayweather fighting in the UK. As long as the fight was still shown at the sam time in the us then it would not cause any issues.
90,000 people would easily buy tickets for mayweather v khan or any opponent and people would still buy the tickets if the main event never started until 3am. All you have to do is have the event start at 10pm or 11pm with some live music for example and then at 12pm you could start the event and the undercards could have British talent fighting such as david Haye or Tyson Fury or Kell Brook etc and American audiences wouldn't care that these fights are on early because they would never watch them anyway. And then at 2:30am or 3am you start the main event.
It would generate just as much money in the UK s it would in the US.

David haye only cares about money so if he was fighting on the undercard but getting paid a lot he would do it.

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Pacquiao in the UK - a possibility?
manny has stated his intention to fight outside of the states because of the high tax rate. so the UK is more likely than the US for a fight.
that said why would anyone pay to see a fight that once held all the promise to be THE fight of our era, which is now a forgone conclusion (a faded twice beaten recently manny has no chance of beating floyd). it would be a kick in the teeth if they made this fight now all the danger has gone, and floyd would claim it "sealed" his legacy, when in reality it would be a pantomime.

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Pacquiao in the UK - a possibility?
maybe so but he never avoided/didn't help to secure a fight with any of his recent opponent at a time when there was grounds to claim he could genuinely have beaten Floyd. Now it would be held in much the same regards as Lewis win over Tyson or Calzaghes win over Jones. Selling a fight on a name is of no interest to fans unless they don't realize said fighter is faded, so casual fans will pay for it but hard core nuts know it's meaningless.

Apparently when Mayweather rolls into Vegas they do an extra $100 million at the tables.............
So another reason Britain is unlikely to stage a huge fight.............

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Pacquiao in the UK - a possibility?
As was mentioned at the start of the thread this was nothing more than some cheap publicity to sell more PPV's. Floyd Mayweather will never fight in England especially not with Khan on the slide. And Mayweather vs Pacquiao will likely never go ahead, if it does, what could have been the biggest fight of all time won't happen at the O2 in London that's for sure.
