Chelsea pay tribute to Sir Alex Ferguson, saying: "All at Chelsea would like to wish Sir Alex Ferguson the very best in his retirement. He has been a fantastic adversary over 26 years."
That's a bit rich, they have been advesaries for 8 years at most.

Any sign of Marky today?
Marky - if you read this, do you want to do a vote on the third Championship game, whose tactics went up last night. You still get your bonus, but would be good to get the 5th vote as Fan is not around to do his.

David Gill: "The new manager will have to have experience in both England and European competitions."
Hummm, kinda rules Moyes out. Klopp anyone?
EDIT: He was rumored to be on the wanted list last week too.

Doesn't have experience in England. I'm going to stick with Phelan, said it from the start.

Can't see Klopp abandoning Dortmund, nor Mourinho fitting at United.
Phelan strikes me more as an assistant so it'll be Moyes. I'm pretty sure of that

Trying to find out who's on the short list for the role, unsurprisingly Mr Arnold is quite busy today to answer texts.

Problem now is that you've had so much stability and success that it will be damn near impossible for another man to replicate the longevity or maybe even the short term success.
You might well find United creeping up in terms of managers on that list if the next few years don't go right.

Moyes has experience in Europe. It doesn't say extensive experience, or Champions League. He has quite a few seasons in Europa League on his CV

Even if it does go right, we may get 10, 15 years out of a manger. Realistically to get 26 years in todays day & age is very unlikely.

Re: Euro Division Homepage LVII
UC Supremazia v Spanish Bank
The much vaunted 4-4-2 is used again, and I love it! I think the formation works really well, as despite Bank set up to try and combat it Murder are very string in midfield, and sort of even it out a bit. They carry a great attacking threat, and I feel they pick up a very good draw on there first time out under new management.
Bank just to strong in the middle with the extra man giving them the advantage. I love the energy of their midfield. Zidane could do with a defensive mid to sit behind kroos and khedira
.
Credit to FC Murder for getting tactics in so late in the day - sadly for them, they came up against a well-drilled and potent Spanish Bank team, who exploited Murder's FB weaknesses to good effect with the dangerous Jovetic and Navas. Ramires was a key player for Spanish Bank, helping to stop Balotelli's deeper play.
Good effort from Russ on getting tactics in at such short notice. It’s a tad unfortunate that this league is so strong and competitive. Spanish Bank’s wingers were too much for the Supremazia FBs.
Both sides strong all over, both score goals and create plenty of chances, however Khedira is the reason Bank don't do even more with their attackers, plus I feel Bank are light with KPB and Ramires both attack minded. Kroos does at least track back to help, so I see Murder/Supremazia hanging on for the win.
ElphickforJustice v Moleicester City
Mole City bold but exposed as Muniain and Shaqiri are not wingbacks and the pace of Teixeira and Aubameyang make a mockery of the space in behind. Mole City create chances but not enough to counter their poor tactics.
I'm not really sure if Nando needs the 3 CB's against Cherries's side, and I feel with maybe a more conventional 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 he'd have won this game more easily. As it is, Elphick for Justice run City close, however Cherries really needs to improve his defence, as they are just too leaky at this level
A high scoring match between the two sides. I don't like munain and shaqiri as a glorified wingbacks, but the new formation is a great move. Elphick however exploit there extra room on the wings and win it through a bony hat trick.
A relatively straightforward game for Moleicester, who were the better prepared and better quality team. E4J couldn't handle the dynamic pairing of Llorente and Sturridge, with Cazorla having a field day behind them. Good win for Moleicester
I didn’t like the use of Munian and Shaqiri on the flanks. They are not ones to track back at all and it left Moleicester exposed. However, Elphick’s defence is not up to scratch either, and weren’t able to cope with the class of Llorente and Cazorla, and it left us with a hugely entertaining, high score draw.
VFL Bassender v Atalanta Falcons
Credit to Bassender for developing into this very strong side, however they come up against an equally strong side and it plays out as a score draw. Both sides exceptionally good going forward so plenty of goals.
Absolutely love what Trebs has done with this Bassender side, and whilst they need more work at the back in terms of depth, I think they win this game. Falcons have a good set up too, however I feel Bassender in Carroll have an X Factor the Falcons CB's struggle to contain, and they nick a tight win
Nothing to separate the two teams following a tactical masterpiece from both managers. Two of the best sets of tactics I've read. Massive well done to both managers.
A game with some huge names involved, and what a cracker it was. Bassender were set up very well, their players knew what to expect from the Falcons, and as such kept their necks ahead throughout the game. Xavi dominated the midfield alongside Bender, as they gelled much better than the pairing of Verratti and Dembele. Atalanta got goals because they have great quality, but this game was won before a ball was even kicked due to Bassender's excellent tactics.
Bassender have done wonders with the team. A few weeks ago this would have been a foregone conclusion, but Bender and Xavi v Dembele and Verratti was a real treat to judge. I felt that the presence of Xavi swung it in Bassender’s favour.

I think Martinez would be a great fit for Everton.
Used to working on a tight budget, has PL experience.
I'm not sure Malky would be the right choice for Everton

Is Martinez a bit overrated?
He's alright enough but he's not pushed Wigan on at all since he's taken over and established them. Big Sam did that at Bolton - love or hate his style.
Plus his team defend like deaf dumb and blind midgets at times.

I don't want Martinez. He's produced a team that only plays for 1/5th of the season and as Sod says, he can't get them to defend.
Mackay would be a better long term option with a view to a couple of poorer years whilst he establishes himself.
But the more I think about, the more I would like Vitor Pereira
