Mcdonald - Hope you get KOED

Jaime Mcdonald has stated he does not follow boxing and that he has never seen Ali or Tyson fights.

For me this is pure arrogance from a fighter who is not that good to begin with. EVERY fighter should know the history of the sport and especially Ali and Tyson. He is a disgrace in my book and BTW I had him 3 rounds down in that fight against Ceja and was gifted the win.

You don't play boxing.

He might not like boxing and sees it as just a job that hes good at, a lot of football players are the same! Altho I find it impossible that he hasn't seen one of them for a round never mind a whole fight

"You don't play boxing", so he's a world champion and has gone about getting his shot the hard way and you care that he isn't a boxing enthusiast and that he's taking it easy

No matter how many old fights you see, he's a world Champ and your nt, he's a success

He doesn't play boxing, he lives it literally and as long as he puts the hard graft then I can't see what the problem is

I dont watch rugby or american football and couldnt really name 5 famous players of either sport. But if I found out that i was naturally good at it then i'd play and probably only stick to watching opponents rather than past fighters now matter how great.

It doesn't matter whether he is a fan or not. He's world champion and clearly puts the work in, best of luck to him.

He is a man ''playing'' with a sport that demands respect. You don't just come out and say you have never watched boxing and could'nt care less who 2 of the greatest heros in boxing are which is what he is saying basically.

He is trying to tell us that he finds boxing easy and that will be his un doing when he meest a real fighter who respects the sport.

And WHU I am a world champ in my own right.

He's not stating its easy. That would be stupid for someone with 2 losses on their record. He's just stating he isn't really a fan but finds he's good at it.

Or are you suggesting that everybody commenting on here study all the late great boxing writers before they come on here and comment?

Not sure how they ever thought it was a fight/fighter worthy of a football stadium type crowd. They could have created a great occasion in a smaller venue, 5-6k maybe.

Haven't seen the fight but I like McDonnell as a fighter so I'm glad he's won a title. He does come across as a chav though, not sure he's the brightest judging by his tweets but he won't care about that. He's not a journalist.

Seeing as Jamie McDonnell is "playing at the sport", it seems you've shown how much you follow it by spelling his name as McDonald , One Two!!

From the little footage i have seen the place was near empty.

Whoever promoted that fight needs to be shot. Injured, not killed.

I play chess, couldn't tell you the reigning world champion. I hang my head, the shame.

Gotta be fair to the crowd, there wasn't many of them, but they made a lot of noise.

A large number of pro/ex pro boxers have very little knowledge or interest in boxings history.

I once heard Lennox Lewis stating that Mike Tyson used to give him history lessons on boxing, Lennox knowledge was far inferior.

His a good boxer worked hard to get where he is and deserves the title, I dont see what having knowledge of the history of the sport has anything to do with anything. Im pretty sure his not alone, there must be other boxers with no knowledge of the history, and probably dont give a toss really, theyre boxers at the end of they day not historians.

Yeah Tyson is very knowledgeable about boxings history, heavyweights especially. He had accesss to all Cus D'Amato's library of fight films and books in his youth. Lewis by his own admission doesnt know much about boxings history. I would say alot more boxers than one would expect have little more than superficial knowledge of boxing history.
