Tremlett and Dernbach have surely had enough 'rest' now haven't they?! Although the Viscount did ok in the Durham debacle, I fear it'll be him who, as always, loses out! I can't even believe that Lewis will be in with any chance - why isn't Clive in the squad?!

Re: surrey vs nottinghamshire county championship
Thanks for the thread, JimBob.
My guess would be for the Viscount and Tremlett to miss out.
The left field choice (and, yes, I'm far too old to use that term!!) would be to play 4 frontline seamers as well as Batty to bolster the attack. Tthat could see Tremlett replace Roy. Unlikely but I do think all options will be considered following such a poor start to the CC season. I also get the impression that we're keen to play Tremlett but don't feel we can rely on him to do the hard yards as someone like Linley does; hence the possibility of an extra main bowler. The obvious argument against this is that weakens the batting which is hardly strong anyway. Much as I don't like Lewis as a bowler, his inclusion should benefit the tail.

Have to hope that Meaker has put back the missing screw in his radar.
At the moment difficult to see which combo of seamers might do better.

Meaker playing and not Tremlett I think. An initial error from the team at Trent Bridge.

Shelsey - yes, Meaker playing in place of Tremlett. I blame Church!
No wicket as.yet for Linley but he seems on the spot: 6-5-2-0.
No bad thing for Surrey that Read isn't playing. He's one of those (many) players who always seems to do well against us!

Lunch 59-2.
Meaker getting a wicket shortly before the break probably just about makes the morning session ours. Still difficult to see beyond a draw with so much rain about and forecast.

170-6. Doing well. Mind you, we still have to dismiss the tail and then bat ourselves ....

Re: surrey vs nottinghamshire county championship
273-9 at stumps.
Hard to make much of a judgment until we bat but would guess both sides are reasonably content now.
As usual we let their tail get too many - stand of 60 plus for the 8th wicket. However, at least we generally kept it tight and already have full bowling points.
Great effort from the Viscount. 28 overs at under 2 runs each with 3 wickets. 3 spells of 10, 10 and 8 overs. Seems no way that Tremlett could be asked to do that which makes his future look less than rosey as we persist with only 4 frontline bowlers.

Re: surrey vs nottinghamshire county championship
Pleased we bowled with more discipline today. Great work by the Viscount and good to see Meaker getting back his bearings. Looks as though team selection was probably right.
The late partnership has largely ruled out the prospect of our winning quickly in a low scoring game. But if we can bat well who knows....
Weather unsettled but doesnt look too bad tomorrow.

You'll have a 200 run 10 wicket partnership.

Quickly looking in at the score. Things don't appear to be as good as they could be!

Head have got to roll. For Surrey to be doing this badly is embarrassing. I'll say it again, but whose idea was it to sign players like Keedy and Solanki? We need hungry players in their mid-20s.

Wilson and Norah edging us toward saving the follow on at 100-6, but you know the saying with Surrey, one wicket brings four!

Re: surrey vs nottinghamshire county championship
Incredibly disapponting. The hardwork put in yesterday by the frontline seamers deserved far better from the others today.
We particularly needed Solanki and de Bruyn to show their experience and take centre stage rather than merge into the collapsing scenery.

Situation in this match close very difficult - a poor or even average pre lunch session tomorrow then we are in desperate straits.
We are looking increasingly vulnerable. Meanwhile Chris Jordan scores 92.

Re: surrey vs nottinghamshire county championship
Morning chaps,
Not going well is it? They probably got at least 50 too many from the position we had them in which would gave made our scores almost level but only thanks to Wilson and Batty (both of whom should be ashamed of themselves for getting out to Samit Patel!)
Adams needs to take a look at himself though, opening with Jason Roy is a mistake anyway but doing it at Trent Bridge is just plain stupid. As is putting arguably your most consistent batsman at number 7 and continuing with someone who has failed for the best part of a year at number 5.
Unless we can get them out with their lead under 200 this will be another loss imo although weather could well lead to another draw.
