The Gloves are off.
Sky Sports 1 now.
Collins, Eubank, Jones Jr, Calazaghe and Woodhall.
Looks fascinating.

Collins deserves a slap. To think he would have had a chance against RJJ is laughable.

Didn't he retire rather than get slapped by Calzaghe? What a pillock.

This is turning into the Collins show already. I sincerely hope Jones takes the fight and damages him.

I hate to see how far Jones Jr has fallen.

Eubank slapping Collins. Just made him look stupid.

Whats the differance between Collins wanting to fight Jones and believing in himself and Khan wanting to fight Mayweather?

No difference whatsoever. He was trying to make out that RJJ ducked him. Or at least stayed clear of him. I mean, come on.

Collins beat a still very good version of Eubank.......that's all that really matters.
Collins pretending to be hypnotized must be one of the greatest psyche outs in boxing history. Chris wasn't mouthing off that night.

Re: The Gloves are off.
I can't see Collins ducking Calzaghe or Calzaghe ducking Froch. They just weren't the fights that either wanted to finish their careers on. And by that I do not mean they would be beaten, just that they were looking for something else from a final fight.

Re: The Gloves are off.
Was a great show, just sad I only tuned in to the second half!
In time to see Eubank brilliantly needling Collins though "I am a stallion, you were a donkey" was perhaps the best back-handed compliment I've ever heard!!
Barely heard a word from RJJ though (in the second half at least) which was sad as he was more talented than everyone else round the table put together.
Interesting to see Woodhall p***ying out of stating JC would've beaten his mate Froch though. Thought JC came across well, confident but diplomatic.

Re: The Gloves are off.
Didnt Collins retire due to collapsing at the gym during sparring? Some sort of heart defect caused him to hang them up?
Oh wait, somebody with that kind of medical condition would have been right up Frank Warren's street at that time so not surprised he was chased for a fight with Joe.
But then again, Calzaghe would have got it a bit tougher than the 40 odd binmen he fought instead

Re: The Gloves are off.
Thought Collins got an injury in the run up to the Calzaghe fight and as he had acheived enough already did not think it was worth the risk to his health. Might be wrong but seem to remember he was injured in some way or another.
On the plus side I went to the Calzaghe Eubank fight so it gave me a chance to see Eubank live, as I was always a big fan of him.

Too right Reborn, what sort of fighter is he when he will not risk perhaps permanent heart damage?

Me aswell at Whitley Bay ice rink, all 55 secs of him, seen to have a knack of going to fights and the main event lasting a 5 mins max.
Thought I'd let you know this as ill be attending the Froch v Kessler fight!
Froch or Kessler within a round I reckon.

Re: The Gloves are off.
Steve Collins is someone to be celebrated rather than p****d on.....A huge overachiever...
I saw him lose to McCallum by a wide margin and saw just an ordinary plodder with a big heart.........Didn't see it myself fortunately but I remember my brother saw him fight somebody called Storey might have been in Brockton and he was crud there too..........
Turned it round scored two great wins over Eubank.........and the two wins over Benn weren't shabby either........
So what If he turned Calzaghe down..........As Dirty Harry would say...
"Man has to know his limitations"........

Can’t make it to Froch Kessler Rodney. Have no luck with Froch fights, missed Bute for nephew’s football tournament and am on holiday for Froch Kessler. Can only hope I can find a bar showing the Champions League followed by the fight. Should soften the blow of missing it live.

I'm sure it will be on In Pontins mate.
No seriously few beers watching it warm weather is an excellent alternative, never seen Froch live or visited the 02 looking forward to it.

Went to the Pascal fight Rooders, cracking fight and atmosphere at that one. Can understand why Kessler was not keen to go to Nottingham for this one, those pretend Yorkshiremen create one hell of an atmosphere.
