Lions Squad Bonding
First topic message reminder :
There are a couple of great articles on the BBC website about how previous Lions squads have gone about building a real sense of unity before flying off on tour:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/22500959
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/22528441
What are your feelings on the subject? Would you recommend anything that hasn't been suggested?

Firstly I prefer my captain to be the baddest man on the pitch, or at least the most influencial guy in the changing room ala POC, Johnson (NOT BOD) maybe AWJ, or even Heaslip.
Secondly I would prefer someone who has toured before to captain ala POC, Roberts etc...
Thats said there is no way you can judge his performance so far as captain on 2 media interviews that will mean very little, the squad as an entity hasn't even met up yet, only 22 players are at the vale right now.
What Warburton does have right now is the entire 22 on side, most of which are Welsh boys uninvolved in any finals, and the rest are being taken out of their comfort zones with the chryo etc, so Warbs is more comfortable than anyone at present, POC, Hogg, Greyetc should already have fallen in line as they look to the welsh boys to lead them through the chryo and Gatlands tendancies early on.
I'll judge Warburton on wether he's doing a good job when the entire squad gets together, and they play that first game in hong kong, that will be the first sign of his captaincy, on foreign soil against a very tough Ba Baa's team, and not a second before.
I suspect this is what you were reffering to sin, where I state twice POC would be my captain, and that I give mere factual evidence of Sams captain ability in a positive light, instead of the accusations of Gatland puppetry, media mistakes and the negative talk of a captain before he even trains with the entire squad.
You let the mask slip completely (that this is the Welsh Lions show) by saying that it was a Welsh coaching team. You can't unring a rung bell (with a nod to Eddie O'Sullivan for that one )

What are you talking about, clutching to straws now!!
I said the coachint team was predominantly Welsh, being 3 of the 5 coaching staff including the head coach. Come on sin, if your that desperate for an argument from nowhere attack something other than what you think is a technicallity!!

This is what you said - no mention of it being 'predominantly Welsh'.
Considering Warbs was in the Vale (his home) being coached by the Welsh set up (his coaches) by a guy that selected him as captain (because he loves him) and surrounded by 75% of the squad being Wales players...
You do realise its easy to check out what you have posted on this thread so not advisable to try and pretend you posted something different.

Thats right, in losing the whole argument about POC being Warbs biatch you revert to a technicality... Are you AWOP in disguise?

Hello non Irish rugby fans. Have you met our friend Sin? Now you can understand why our thread descend into his goalpost shifting piffle. There's been more goalpost shifting on our boards since....since that big lad there down the road did all the goal post shifting. You know the one. The one with the lazy eye and bowl haircut.
However, a gold star to this comment for utter nonsense.
Aye, because Irish history is a bed of roses big lad. Catch a grip

Ah Sin you little scallywag. You are quite the unknowledgeable cretin but I love you very dearly.
Here is another matter you just don't have the slightest but of knowledge about. For every Thatcher I could name you a dozen worse figures who had a whale of a time in Ireland with the natives. Big Ollie Cromwell and Charles Coote senior and junior would laugh in Thatcher's face. Right in her pointy beak. Maggie wouldn't even be in their little club. As for "my neck of the woods", I don't know what you mean Sin. "My neck of the woods" couldn't be more middle class. It's the most middle class part of Northern Ireland. Hell I'm pretty sure we are the only part of the UK that voted in a Green Party member to a national assembly. But you are right of course, the Greens are the worst sort of MOPEs. "Bejeezus lads, look what you did to the trees". Well the birds wake me up every morning when I'm trying to sleep so they had to get the chop. And I laughed evilly the whole time I did it. So no MOPEry from me. Unless its about Flegs. I love a good fleg me. John Hume once said you can't eat a flag. I bet he never tried. The North Korean one gave me terrible wind.
And anyway, it was my lot that are largely responsible for all the little bits of MOPEry that defines the Free Staters. Sure, my ancestors came over and settled in Co. Armagh during the Plantation. I dearly hope they kicked some plebs like Rodders off their land. You hear me Rodders? I wouldn't even have his ilk slaving on my ill gotten gains.
Last but not least, I was pulling Bluesmans leg. Even he knows a winky smiley face at the end of a sentence meant in jest when he sees it. Even if (according to you) he is a once eyed Welsh POC baiter. I would have said that a link to a comedy sketch from an Irish channel lampooning their own identity probably meant I has having a laugh. Oh Sin, your posting on here is so ridiculous that it makes you a national treasure. When you die Me, Rodders and Gibbo are going to have you stuffed and you will stay with us. I'll have you Monday and Tuesday, Rodders on Wednesday and Thursday, and Gibbo Friday and Saturday. Sundays will be a problem. We will all want you that day. Don't worry lad, I'll wash you in Johnson's baby shampoo and bring you to Church with me. I hope the Presbyterian church is ok with you. Not the Free Ps mind you. No, no. I love me a good line dance you see.
I better do the mods a favour and keep this on topic. Hmmmmmmm, something about the Lions you say? Warburton is a terrible choice of captain. I can't respect any player whose name can't be shortened to three initials. POC. DOC. BOD. ROG. I mean Warburton? I had to Google his first name there because I forgot. SW? What a waste of space. That could stand for anything. Right now it says "small willy" to me, and I'll be damned if I'm going to have any player whose initials remind me of a phallus captaining the Lions. Won't somebody think of the children?
Therefore, in conclusion Sin, you're my number one guy.

A diatribe eh Sin? I'm just so glad that thesaurus I bought you for Christmas came in handy. I was worried when you first asked for it seeing as you thought it was a type of dinosaur. But you did it my boy! You really are my favourite mistake.
As for moving on from Cromwell, its statements like that tell us all you a huggable WUM- no one could intentionally make such a morose and moronic statement unless they are on the wind up. Moving on from Cromwell? Sin my little petal, you guys haven't moved on from those pesky Vikings yet. I don't blame you though, I'm with you on this one. I mean look at you lot- pasty, freckles and ginger hair. The Vikings? To a man blond, blue eyes and ripped without an PEDs or protein shakers in sight. Damn handsome, pillaging Vikings!
Also,
http://vastarrayofthevaguelyinteresting.blogspot.co.uk/2011/08/take-down-that-murdering-Bar Steward.html
I mean I suppose Bertie might have been saying that to take it down and throw it in the back of his state Ford Focus. You can't watch that boy- he'll take anything nailed down.
I don't think you understand what MOPEry is Sin. You realise me and my lot were the oppressors? I mean, what would I have to feel sad about? I suppose we could be sad that we didn't do more oppressing. But honestly Sin, who has the time to fit it all in? Those Normans didn't even have an Iphone so they could sync it up with their ICals on their laptops back in France. I'm not surprised they missed some appointments. But live and learn.
Anyway, all this talk of my ancestors being naughty little colonialists makes me want to cleanse my soul. Thankfully tonight is my annual cross community night where I cheer on Ireland in something. You can take your Bucks Fizz and Cliff Richard and Katrina and the Waves and shove them up your jacksey. This is the finest bit of Eurovisioning ever.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2ZVKhL92bc
More of this please.
Finally, let me leave you with those thought Sin since you don't have a clue what MOPE actually stands for. It means;
Munster
Ovaries
Produce
Eunuchs
So when Bluesman says POC doesn't have the balls not to toe the Warburton reign of tyranny he doesn't mean it as a slight against POC. No, he means he literally doesn't possess the balls.
Lawyered.
You're welcome.
