Haye vs Fury at the end of the year
What do you guys think?
http://www.espn.co.uk/boxing/sport/story/207514.html
Says they are currently in talks. The injury that halted the Charr fight seems a bit suspect now. Haye could earn triple (or more) fighting the big unco-ordinated oaf.
Is the injury a ploy to begin preparations for a Fury fight or will Fury duck Haye like he did Price?
Hopefully it happens, Haye previously dismissed a fight with Fury but now seems up for it.

Re: Haye vs Fury at the end of the year
If I was handling fury I'd keep him well away from haye. Could be the usual bluster of 'we'll fight anyone' whilst pricing themselves out of it... though they may think its better to take a handsomely rewarded risk. Whichever, credit to the fury's if it does materialise... Though I suspect it would be a bubble bursting evening for them.

You can see the conversation: -
"Hey David, you know you're fighting Charr at the end of the month for a truck load of money?"
"Yeah?"
"Well, you could make a truck load and shed load of money by fightng Fury"
"Great. That big lummox will be a much easier night than Charr."
"Of course, if you loose to Charr, then you won't get that that fight with Fury and you can say good bye to all that dosh"
"Ouch, my hand hurts"

But what if he was to adopt his pushing forearm against Hayes head before crackin him one. Fury's dirty tactics could be a major factor against Haye.
Lets hope the ref (if it happens) has none of it.

Sort of like the conversation he had a few years ago:
"Right lets get ready for Wlad"
"David, Setanta just went bust"
"Ouch my back!!!!"
Re: Haye vs Fury at the end of the year
Or Hennessy's conversation with Fury:
"Price is mandatory for your British title"
"WHAT!?!?!"
"Can you not win the purse bid?"
"No, I stopped off at Burger King on the way home, funds took a bit of a pasting"
"No way, get this belt back to the BBBoC AND GET MARTIN ROGAN ON THE PHONE!!!"

"WHAT!?!?!"

Re: Haye vs Fury at the end of the year
I can't imagine that the injury was a ploy UNLESS they have signed something together already.
Considering Fury's tendancy to duck I don't think Haye would risk loosing money.

Oh you cynical bunch you!!
As milky said, if I was Fury's managment I wouldn't want him anywhere near Haye.
As long as Haye's delicate little toe held up I could see him bashing Fury from pillar to post.

I can see the grounds for suspicion, but its charr he was fighting not Ali. I don't imagine haye was expecting to break sweat, never mind his hand

I would cash inFry, he's an accident waiting to happen and a Haye fight will probabaly get him the same amount a Wlad fight would
No chance though as Fury won't want it, he has dodged dangerous challenges before and his bluff has been called many times now

Re: Haye vs Fury at the end of the year
I wouldnt be surprised. I think the fight makes sense. Much more so than Haye v Charr plus Fury v Pulev.
Fury would probably lose this, but its better to lose a cash rich fight with Haye then for a lower purse bid fight with someone like Pulev. For Haye its another lucrative opponent that he can beat and move up the ladder.
Both guys are ranked top ten with the WBC I think so the fight could easily be made an eliminator. Vitali has Stiverne next I think or possible retirement so it uts both Haye and Fury closer to the title, gets them a nice payday and most likely a shot at either an old Vitali or a vacant title.
Fury is at the stage now where he is enough of an accident that he may aswell cash in on a big fight rather than risk lose to a small name for small money. And even if he did lose to Haye, it doesnt set him back all that much. He would be expected to lose and the publicity generated from the build up would ensure its worth the publicity.

It's a must. A massive fight for the UK. I'm looking forward to the build up especially. Hopefully china price gets onto his feet again so he can join in the fun. I'll sponsor the sole of his shoes.

Lets just hope Fury fights someone with a pulse.
He cant afford to get knocked all over the show by a half dead cruiser again.
Pulev or Haye are must fights at this point.

I notice Pulev is now the latest fighter to have gained himself something of a bandwagon following...hmmmm!!!!!

Re: Haye vs Fury at the end of the year
Haye has gained a bandwagon following too.
Maybe the fans should go back to his fight with Wlad and remember how limited he is and how he bolted like a little girl for 12 rounds.
His appearence on I'm a Celebrity and beating Chisora (who everybody seems to beat) seem to have re-surfaced some peoples love for him again.

... And on a thread, where he's managed to make reference to price being chinny.
I fear our good friend irony passed away many moons ago Jeffrey. He's stuck in purgatory listening to az and ghosty calling each other stubborn while debating the merits of Marciano.

It could be worse Milky, his friend common sense is stuck in the adjacent room listening to Gordy telling him how Calzaghe would beat Wlad.

Re: Haye vs Fury at the end of the year
Hay eversus Fury would be great. HAye KO, naturally, but a great build up and genuine press interest. Fatty Hennessey should recognise he can make serious coin in this one and go for it. Fury will end up coming unstuck against a Tony Thompson type figther if Hennessey waits too long. Then there is no money in a Haye fight

Re: Haye vs Fury at the end of the year
i think the gerneral consensus is correct in that if you are going to get knocked out, which Fury is one step up in class from being if Cunningham was anything to go by, then you may as well make the most money doing it.
The only danger may be if he genuinely wants a K bro which a pasting in this fight would probably scotch.
But Haye would bring more money to the table than a K-Bro for Fury at the moment in this country and the US

If Haye genuinely had a hand injury that would take "weeks" (Haye's words not mine) to recover, the Charr fight would have been postponed rather than cancelled. Makes me think he wanted to cancel it, which would add to the idea of Haye v Fury happening.

True. I think Haye realised nobody was interested in seeing him fight that Charr guy and he could make alot more money fighting Fury. Its a much more interesting fight. I dont think the hand injury is legitimate. I hope this happens now. Fury will be too big for Haye but he takes more chances than Wladimir Klitschko so Haye will have a better chance. I think it will be very similar to Furys last fight if it goes ahead. At least Haye seems willing to fight Fury which is good news.

And climbing back up to win. Thats what makes it exciting.
These are the fights the heavyweight division needs. Lets the new breed come through and clear out the old guard. I mean who wants to see the these ancient Klitschko brothers going over old ground with Haye or Charr and the like? It wasnt good the first time so why do it again. And the fact it makes people think they are great rather than pure average just adds insult to injury. Fury, Price, Wilder and hopefully a few more can bring new life. They are big, young, exciting heavyweights. Not ancient boring ones.

Remember when I was a kid Reborn, Bruno was often seen as a figure of ridicule. Dear god if he hit Fury anywhere above the kneecaps he would knock him into next week. Compared to these guys Big Frank looks like a heavyweight version of Benny Leonard.

What happened to Fury's purse bids with Pulev for mandatory position?
And why couldn't Haye fight Charr now(ish) and still Fury by year end?

Possibly Hennessy didnt like the idea of a Pulev fight going to purse bids and gave Haye a call instead.
Haye probably wouldnt want to risk losing out on a Fury fight. I think theres a strong chance the injury is bogus and they will look to make Fury v Haye later in the year.

This fight won't happen unless Fury's camp are stupid, Fury would come out al aggressive and walk straight into Hayes right hand and its goodnight
Nowt against Fury just don't rate him, put him in the Neville Meade, Noel Quarless, Dave Pierce league of fighters.

The purse bid is the end of May I believe. After that everything will be a bit clearer I imagine. I make Fury a massive underdog against Haye and Pulev really so I'd be surprised if he went for the low cash option in Pulev rather than the big money fight against Haye when his chances of winning are probably about the same.

Re: Haye vs Fury at the end of the year
I know if I was in charge of Fury at the moment I would take the Haye fight.
From what I have seen/heard about Fury, hes not the most committed guy to boxing. I doubt he going to be able to maintain the discipline associated with longetivity. He might for a few years but I suspect he will become bored/distracted/unmotivated and lapse into poor conditioning after a while. So even going down the road of feeding hand picked fights might not work before long and his profile and mouth are too big to get away doing that for too long without attracting ridicule and damaging his status.
Although he isnt particularly rated highly as a boxer his profile is high right now so he may as well cash in rather than risk someone like Pulev (or worse) stopping him. Even if he loses to Haye, his profile will be even bigger given the coverage it attracts, he will be well paid and because of his profile a loss wouldnt even set his career back.

In all seriousness though, Fury can't seem to avoid overhand rights. McDermott nailed him consistently with that punch in their first encounter, and Cunningham dropped him with a similar shot (if memory serves).
Haye would demolish him.
