The Gloves - The Boxing Board Pub Thread
First topic message reminder :
I, as well as countless other people have had enough of threads descending into utter drivel.
If you want to go wildly off topic and discuss things, then please do so in here.
Today alone has seen threads descend into conversations about Blazing Saddles, hot women, the Royal family, how to cook duck and now darts.
Is this really how we are going to attract new members?
If you want to talk about these or other similarly non boxing related matters, do so here and not on threads people have taken the time to write.
The Gloves is now open for business, now who is buying the first round?

Oh good Christ no. To be honest, I don't see why such a big deal was made about it, it just shows the guy has a sense of humour.

By the way - is everyone happy with the name of the pub?
I can change if you can come up with something else.

Just fine, by me, Hobo.
The only alternative I could think of would be ' The Marquess Of Queensbury, ' but I reckon yours is plenty good enough.

I considered the Queensbury.
Others considered:
The Crossed Hands
The Ring
The Lonsdale

That just makes it the most highly-paid fight.
It will also be the most watched fight and it featuring the p4p king, the best fighter of his generation and the no.2 ranked welter in the world.
He's only #2 ranked by virtue of the fact that Mayweather is inactive. Oh, and Cotto moved up.

Can't believe my decades one made it in the WUM section. It was written in good faith!!
If anyone could find anything from the realmickster that would be pretty special. Sure the good folk on here would be fascinated to know how every fighter ever ducked Steve Collins, including those who died before he was born

Just found a 606 profile for 'therealmickster' but if it is our old pal then he has created a new account, as it only has posts to the football board
Re: The Gloves - The Boxing Board Pub Thread
Pity. He used to give betting tips which basically amounted to him tipping any English fighter to lose everytime they fought. As he had a particular dislike for Calzaghe I dread to think the financial ruin anyone foolish enough to follow the tips would have suffered.

No problem! Isn't one of Springs finest pieces, but it gives a taster to anyone unfamiliar with his work of what can be expected. Let's hope he gets himself on board with v2!
Re: The Gloves - The Boxing Board Pub Thread
Spring was a genius. I could never actually work out whether he was a Naz fan or was right royally takinng the pee out of him. Would have loved to see what he would have done had Naz announced a very unlikely comeback

Hahaha fantastic!
Jeff, I think he must have been a Naz fan, he pumped these articles out with fanatical regularity, and was always aware of any key Naz related dates! I dread to think who would have been perceived to have been ducking Naz if as you say, he had announced a comeback.
I seem to recall him suggesting that Valuev was ducking him at one stage!

Maybe when Naz gets to 37, Floyd might call him out and stop ducking him, because he would be the right age for a Mayweather opponent and would have adequate ring rust to boot.

Aah the good old rating system, you knew the wums had made us all equally as crazy as they once such an article got a liberal dose of 5 stars, whilst in comparison a genuine boxing article would be littered with 1 stars before you had even pressed the submit button.

Great stuff, Union.
Agree with Fists that these should be forever immortalized in the ' Pub ' thread. Do you fancy reposting them there, or would you prefer to leave them here ?
