The Gloves - The Boxing Board Pub Thread
First topic message reminder :
I, as well as countless other people have had enough of threads descending into utter drivel.
If you want to go wildly off topic and discuss things, then please do so in here.
Today alone has seen threads descend into conversations about Blazing Saddles, hot women, the Royal family, how to cook duck and now darts.
Is this really how we are going to attract new members?
If you want to talk about these or other similarly non boxing related matters, do so here and not on threads people have taken the time to write.
The Gloves is now open for business, now who is buying the first round?

Fists for me will go for
Ralphy - Woodhall to beat Benn in two rounds
The CEEJ plenty of fish situation
And hard to disagree with Spinning Back Fist.

One thing that confuses me though...and may confuse you once I've tried to explain it.
Tyson > GOAT translates as "Tyson is greater than the Greatest of all time" So surely that makes Tyson the Greatest of all time if he's surpassing the previous greatest. So this begs the question, can Tyson really be better than himself?
However, now I've given air to my concerns, I'm starting to see how the "Prime/Peak" Tyson issue comes into play, but even then, surely once it's been established which version of Tyson is the greatest, you still have the situation where Tyson > The Greatest Version of Tyson of all Time (or GVOTOAT to give it it's proper title)

That chap telling rowley to get back in his cage was comedy genius.
Who let Rowley out of his cage in the first place is what I want to know.

Dave you are trying to analyse and understand Tyson by the standards and conventions of normal people and conventional understandings of language and its nuances. We are playing with a whole different rule book on this one. If you just accept it as FACT!! will be far easier.

Fair enough, I'll hurredly build myself a cage and climb inside.
So, in a nutshell.......
"FACT > GOAT"

1. Lacy will beat Calzaghe within 4 rounds.
Why?
Simple...
2. Ceej plentyoffish
3. One of the many great TRUSSMAN ones.

The Ralphy 'Woodhall to beat Benn inside 2' article was unrivalled genius.
I'm trying to recall the plenty of fish article, maybe I was away for that one. Scott's suggestion of why Lacy beats Calzaghe was a classic too.
Re: The Gloves - The Boxing Board Pub Thread
Tell you what, fellas, this one looks as though it's going to be fun, so I'll leave it here for ten minutes or so, so that you all know where it is, and then I'll merge it into the ' Gloves ' thread.

1) Danny Williams > Than Ali thread (tyson, holmes connection)
2) CEEJ plenty of fish dating and the unfortunate demise of LLR
3) LLR thread in general, pure entertainment, and educated and informed poetic WUMMING of the likes that has never been seen again.

Jim if I remember it the Williams Ali thread went one further and added Audley to prove Harrison was better than Ali. Was brilliant because it destroyed in one fell swoop the whole one fighter is better than another because he did better against a common opponent drivel we often have to endure.

For the BBC606 old timers.
I've just had the pleasure of seeing ceej1979 getting totally owned on Eastside Boxing's General Forum. It brought back some very happy memories for me. I thought I'd share that with you as I know one or two of you will also get a little tingling sense of satisfaction out of hearing the news.

The arguments change but Ceej's ability to win friends remains constant throughout. Guess the quest for artsy gunslingers in the Bristol area remained unfulfilled because his fishing expeditions clearly didn't do much to alter his personality
