George Groves
The gingerbread man needs to, calm down. No way does he beat Froch right now. And look at his last three opponents, two of them cans and one of them fleshy and shot, hardly dynamic.
Yes he has talent and is improving and for his age doing excellently. But he is nowhere near Carl's level. A WBO shot at the German is a winnable fight, that should be next.
I like Groves, and don't blame him for being in it for his own personal gain, all boxers should be, but he needs to fight world level opponents before he starts talking world level ****.
A future champ?

Re: George Groves
From the pint of view of British boxing Hearn should make Froch Groves next summer in a huge match. Groves would get stopped IMO. He has never had it put on him like Froch would. That said, Froch is older and has been in war after war, so if this happens in a year or two then Groves might have enough to take advantage of that

Re: George Groves
Defo, who knows how Froch reacts after this battle. Everyone says, 'oh, but kessler aint kessler no more.' Well, it was Froch who battered his eye in the first place.
Groves needs to go for the German and snatch the WBO first IMO. It's an obvious fight for him. Also, he needs to stop fighting cans to get a showreel and take on world level opposition first.
Eddie is flying and has the dates for Groves.
Such an exciting time in boxing for the UK.

Yeah, pretty much agree with Stieglitz as a good option for Groves, but in the Uk if at all possible. Doubt he'd get a fair crack in Germany.
If he can get a portion of the world title (albeit the least significant one) then different doors might open up.

Id throw him in with ward. Ok it like throwing him to the wolves. But will he ever be ready? Go for it.

I don't think Groves needs a world title to be honest, but it would help. If he fights a top 10 opponent and looks good he can needle Froch enough in the press that people will clamber for the fight.

Re: George Groves
I think Groves is a special talent. Great movement and punch power. Only problem is that he likes a tear up which could be his undoing. Wonderful prospect and future 2nd best in the division.
Special mention to DeGale who looks to be realising his talents also. The future of the division is British (assuming Ward moves up and Dirrell disappears).

Degale and Dirrell could both give Ward fits but mentally they are weak.
Degale won recently against a guy given two minutes notice and who was obviously shot, hardly dynamic to witness.
Degale should have gone to Matchroomsavers...

Re: George Groves
I think Groves will need a good chin because he gets caughts alot. He reminds me of a younger Froch in some ways. Steiglitz looks like a winnable but challenging fight for him at this stage of his career. A fight with Froch, if it ever happens, would be bigger as a unification. I still think Groves could use a couple of good fights to build his name and experience. I cant see him getting the better of Froch in the exchanges at this time.

I like Groves. I think he's good. He's like a 'better peak Michael Jennings' but of the SMW division..... he'll get beat when he steps up.

I go along with that Manos. I definitely think Steiglitz is a step too far for Groves just at the moment. Steiglitz is riding the crest of a wave with the demolition of Abrahams in double quick time with a work rate even Froch would be tested with. It would be a good fight for Froch to take to grab another belt in a big Euro fight. Let Ward stew for another while.

Re: George Groves
Ward is beyond belts. Everyone and their dog knows he is the best by a long way. People like Froch need the belts for legitimacy.

Re: George Groves
Groves should aim to fight the winner of Bika vs Periban for the vacant WBC title, both are good fighters but I give Groves a chance of beating both. Then next summer a British super fight with the possibility of 3 world titles on the line.

Re: George Groves
Does Groves sell enough to make a Froch match ?????
He's ginger...well mannered......stuck on satellite all his career, average looking and boring....
Which is only a problem when you consider who his Manager is!!!!
Booth will want top whack and Groves won't deserve it...........
Interesting fight though.............Pick Froch for now..

Froch for now but Groves in two years if Frochy wars away until then. Anywhere near prime Froch butchers him though.

Re: George Groves
I want to see Groves do well, not seen him fight in a while. Only of course to shove it right up Degale. They should get them back in the studio together and see what Degale has to say now.

Groves for the WBO makes sense. Froch right now does not.
