The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ballycastle Bar, Hong Kong.
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Hong Kong, host city for the British & Irish Lions first Tour match before their arrival in Australia - land of the Giant Budgie Smuggler.
So grab a beer, cider, whiskey or wine.... or a warm beverage and sit back and enjoy the rugby.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Rory Best, Sam Warburton, the Limavady Luge Team, Papa Rodders, Mrs Rodders and our newest & sweetest member, Katelyn.

Nite Prop mate.
Loving Woodward commentating here. Never thought Id say that, but not only does he have compassion and a deep understanding of the game, he articulates it so well.

Zebo called up. Good news for Cari that Bowe is having an operation in oz with the hope of being fit in time.

Nearly the whole team were poor. Was certainly outshone by Henshaw and McFadden

I knew something was up because only the general media and the IRFU were saying Tommy was coming home. Ulster wouldn't confirm it because the Lions Press Office wouldn't. Apparently the minor op was to set a fracture which sounds complex, but I hope it's not too bad. However, at the same time I don't want him rushed back for the sake of it. Good news for Zebo anyway, and I hope he enjoys a couple of games.
Morning All by the way. I didn't stay up for the Ireland match, but I've seen the score. Well done to them. England did very well yesterday too. I didn't watch all of that one I was too tired. I was in bed by ten only to be rudely woken up by two really pished women outside my house at half three this morning. I think they were lost and kept wandering back and for singing and shouting...

26 hours of traveling later... And we're in Perth. Very humid, some nice KFC before an early night. Flights ludicrously cramped.

Literally anywhere we go we're looking for wifi hotspots. Also since we're out here a month we're looking to get SIM cards this morning for the duration. Breaker would someone like Telstra or whatever be willing to unlock my phone (assuming it is locked I've genuinely no idea)

Try a Telstra store... they may unlock it for you.
Otherwise you might be able to get a cheap (under $50?) unlocked phone somewhere. Try one of those '$2 shops'... with chinese owners or even some sections of supermarkets have them.

Okay group question. I was fairly confident my phone wasn't unlocked we bought it from 02... But I just bought a Yes Optus sim card today plugged it in and it seems to be working fine. Explanation anyone? I'm a bit scared I'll be landed with a huge 02 bill when I'm home.

Hope you got to Perth in one piece Willy, as for your phone, certain phones can operate wherever, but the network changes, like Vodafe Ireland become UK/Portugal, however texting from home usually costs a fair bit tooperate, I'm on prepay, so it's easier to manage but if you have a smart phone I would be using apps such as Viber/Skype t o contact people if you can.
In other news, Ireland has returned to its normal depressing state, with gloomy skies overhead, morning to all.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ballycastle Bar, Hong Kong.
I think he fancies an Aussie sim so he can get data network over there (and cheaper calls to Aussie numbers) But fears his phone may be simlocked to his UK provider. This can be removed from most phones, but will the Aussie provider be competent/bothered enough to do it for him is the question.Thomond wrote:Hope you got to Perth in one piece Willy, as for your phone, certain phones can operate wherever, but the network changes, like Vodafe Ireland become UK/Portugal, however texting from home usually costs a fair bit tooperate, I'm on prepay, so it's easier to manage but if you have a smart phone I would be using apps such as Viber/Skype t o contact people if you can.

We don't thin kabout the Dubs really, we know we're better then them at pretty much everything, so there's no issue there. We were on the Lonely Planet guide of best places in the world to visit a few years back like. Sure Dubs come down to holiday here, we don't go to the Big Shmoke to holiday that says it all like.

Jenifer, they're barely holding their own when compared with Limerick these days never mind anywhere else.

A few years back!
Belfast was once one of Lonely Planets four "B's to Avoid" along with Beruit, Belgrade and Bagdhad. Times change.
Cork ain't upto much these days!
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ballycastle Bar, Hong Kong.
The last team that no Corkman was picked to represent the Lions we won the series. The common denominator in all our profesional era losing Lions Tours have been Cork men.
Zebo has doomed the Lions with his langeresque presence.

Stag, that's our word you have no right to use it it's like a certain segment of America and a certain word.
2011 I think Cork was the hotspot, and it's only gotten better since then with improvements like. Did the Queen visit Limerick like? Did JFK back in the day, that pretty much says it all right there.
Although Munster don't seem to like us, which is strange seeing as they are ran by a Corkman, they will make a big mistake if they choose to ignore Cork with matches.

Ah that's WEST Cork. Different county altogether. Should be the 33rd county of Ireland. Lovely place.Thomond wrote:He is from Norwich Prop he is only telling the truth.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ballycastle Bar, Hong Kong.
I actually agree with you Thomond.
I think that Munster v Ulster in the Pro 12 would be a perfect game for Cork. Dare I say even Munster v Leinster.
We need a strong Limerick v Cork rivalry at the heart of Munster Rugby.
To be that we need some bigish games in Cork. Its too big a market to neglect.
Limerick has the quality fans Munster need but Cork has the quantity of fans Munster need.

Agree. Ask anyone from Clonakilty or Rosscarbary where they are from and what do they say? Cork? Nope they say West Cork.
It is the 33rd County. Connemara being the 34th County. D4 being the 35th County
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ballycastle Bar, Hong Kong.
Parts of West Cork are a bit like Kerry, we don't like those places, the rest of it is as Cork as they get really, some mad rugby spots and GAA spots (although I don't like West Cork rugby, cheating feicers the lot of them, and the run the South Munster branch so that doesn't help).
Posted a link to the Whiff of Chordite article on the matter today Stag on the Musnter threat as well as my response, it's an issue that has been handled poorly really.

I think we should be making efforts to build up the Cork v Limerick thing rather than breaking down barriers. Internal rivalry is a great thing is handled correctly.
We need to be smart with use of stadium. For example we had Munster v Connacht in Musgrave this year. Why??? We get great travelling support for Galway when its in Thomond Park (just 80 minutes drive). Cork is more than double that.
By contrast how many Ulster fans do we really get coming to Limerick. Lets make that the Cork game.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ballycastle Bar, Hong Kong.
That would make a lot more sense, half the problem is Cork gets the same games year after year, and also that the players didn't give a shoite about the Rabo last year, why should you fork over 20 quid when the palyers are goign through the motions (that goes for all Rabo games really)

Definitely my biggest bug bear about supporting Munster.
If the European Cup becomes diluted or the Rabo increases in strenght I fear we could become left behind.
We need to develop a desire to win every game. Not just Heineken Cup games and the Munster v Leinster derby.

Dear Pubsters,
I've decided to leave the Site after some careful consideration in the last 24 hours or so.
Like BB, I'm finding it intolerable and I have been receiving abusive emails from a few irrational members. I reacted poorly to one poster's remarks and it caused a huge stir in the boxing section.
I had to ban 5 Members in one night - not like me (2 in 2.5 years)... and it was not an enjoyable situation to be in. It has been suggested that we let the Live Threads moderate themselves. I don't think that will work, unfortunately.
It's been great chatting with you all but I need to concentrate on other things. I'll still watch some sport but I won't be on here anymore. I apologise if I've ever offended anyone on here.
Thanks for all of your rugby contributions (you are second to none!) and I wish you & your teams all the best!
