What a loud mouth foolish guy. Fight Ward and get humble again. Saw his performance on ringside and he came across as a first rate jerk.

If they are interesting and close to the truth. Not when they are an also ran in the division. He got outclassed by Ward and now giving it large. Ward should shut him up again.

Re: Froch
Someone mentioned earlier... A sign of insecurity. He alluded as much, himself saying everyone has moments of self doubt. Not the kind of comment mayweather would come out with.
I think, he feels he's never got the respect and needs to tell everyone they should have believed him.
Strange really as now he is finally getting the recognition. Or maybe he's just stirring the pot. Whichever, it's not very becoming for a Brit... Such brashness should be left to the colonials.

I like Froch but it has to be said he is a bit of an oddball.
He seems to get an idea or a phrase in his head and doesn't have a problem wearing it out. He just doesn't seem to have much empathy or an ability to relax.
He did say in the post fight presser that he was very shy and doubted himself when he first turned pro so maybe he is just not that comfortable in the limelight.
Bottom line though he walks the walk and in a sport that sometimes limps along on hot air he is a godsend.

Froch has always craved attention but alas he has the charisma of potato. He does grate on people because of this. I don't mind Froch that much because he can fight and will fight anyone as he has proved but he is sometimes irritating.
He annoys me like when you get an itch somewhere on your ball bag. You know the kind, the kind of itch that all the scratching in the world won't fix so you have to carefully identify where the itch is situated on said ball bag and delicately catch it between index finger and thumb and gently rub till you are relieved.

Re: Froch
To be honest, I thought old man Hearn's performance on tonight's Ringside was far more cringeworthy than anything Froch came out with. Froch used the term, "I'm the cream of the crop." But he did use that term when they were specifically talking about the threats that the Super-Middleweight division offers on these shores. So perhaps it's not cut and dried that he was saying he considers himself the world's number one Super-Middleweight.
But I thought some of Hearn's comments regarding Ward smacked of desperation, and were pretty childish, too. In fact I think that all of team Froch, Robert McCracken aside, have pretty much embarrassed themselves to some degree when it comes to talking about Ward.
The odd thing, as Ward himself has said, is that it isn't even in retaliation - Ward has done nothing to rile any of them up and has only spoken on Froch and his team when provoked. But Froch and Hearn's obsessive talk of Ward recently is starting to look a lot like Mayweather's crusade against Pacquiao's image two or three years back. They could do with packing it in, really.

I liked the line from McCracken... That froch always says to him just before the first bell 'what do I do rob?'
Didn't say how he answers. Probably says 'hit him Carl'. Or some other tactical insight.

Can a leopard change its spots?
I watched Froch v Ward again the other day and Froch just simply got out boxed. Ward was tagging him going back and nailing him going forward. Froch wanted a tear up but Ward was way too clever. I don't see how Froch and beat Ward without changing his game plan.
Froch is a great fighter but not a great boxer.

Fact bellinger. Black fighters can flash wads of notes, 'Benjamin's, make controversial racist comments (Hopkins) yet froch is getting grief for saying he is the money man in the division. Ward is nothing. He'll be rembered with as much affinity as johnny nelson

Human nature I suppose. Could go further but this isn't really the place. It is however naive to think a boxer's colour/religion doesn't effect his fanbase.promoters have spent years trying to tap in to a following. I refer you to bellingers recent article on max Baer.

How did you score it? I watched it last week for only the second time and I thought Froch won 3 rounds at a push. I think Froch believes that it was closer to the 115-113 cards that 2 of the judges gave.ONETWOFOREVER wrote:Can a leopard change its spots?

No, of course a boxers colour can helo sell him, after all, how many fighters made a decent living being "The Great White Hope"? Personally, I support people from my are, hence my Thomas Oosthuizen support.
If Froch can land a ref who isnt a fan of spoilers, then I think he is good for one rally vs Ward, if Wards chin holds out, then Froch has no chance

Re: Froch
Funny when Hearn senior said about ward "flies around meat" almost implying froch gets attention due to flies around Poopie.
I'm really starting to like froch though, deep down he's a humble working class guy, sometimes just plays up the cockiness and parrot phrases, mainly when discussing his domestic rivals. I think at home froch can give ward a challenge. The first 3 rounds against Kessler he showed tactical awareness and adapted. If he can adapt his tactics and frustrate ward for 6 rounds then maybe just maybe he could force ward into a scrap.

Re: Froch
As I said on another thread, I don’t really mind Frochs “warrior” spiel because its backed up and legitimate. Its maybe a bit repetitive but its Frochs way of promoting himself. But what I used to like about Froch was he was relatively straightforward and kept the kind of general bs to a minimum. But the last couple of years hes increasingly coming across as bitter and insecure which I suppose is understandable to an extent given the lack of recognition he got previously. In particular Khan seems to rile him up big time. The stuff he comes out with now about Ward and the Ward fight is almost Audley-esque delusion. The judges did him a favour in that. The bout was generally clean. To use jet lag or pickpocketing as an excuse is a bit laughable. The thing about I is also, as Chris said, Ward seems to have moved on from that fight. Its not like hes bringing it up all the time and forcing Froch to defend himself. Froch is the one that keeps bringing Ward up and trying to discredit him. The bottom line is Ward is the best at the moment and beat him fairly and it seems Froch cant handle that. If he just let it lie and moved on to either looking at a rematch or leaving the loss behind then he would be better off but the more he brings it up and tries to exonerate it by claiming hes more exciting, the worse he looks. In a few months are we going to start hearing that Ward robbed him? You don’t expect any boxer to really advertise their losses but Froch keeps bringing it up. The more he does, the more he underlines the fact he lost and he worse he looks in making excuses. The Froch of old would have said look I lost that fight and Im keen to avenge it.

Well it's taken Froch three years to admit he lost the first fight with Kessler to the better man...despite injuries and ash cloud hampering his preparation (see, with comments like that tagged on Carl, you don't come across as have finally accepted the result).
I reckon he'll give Cooper a run for his money in old "How long can I hold a grudge?" stakes

Anybody follow him on twitter? He really doesn't take criticism well. Dan Rafael got some flak for suggesting the Ward fight was a near shut out. I find it strange that the more exposure hes getting, what he craved for years the more bitter he seems to be getting. Can somebody tweet him a link to this to see what his opinion of this thread is?

Re: Froch
Typical really. Froch finally achieves mainstream success and people start criticising him because of it. The old build em up, knock em down approach. Froch is a credit to boxing. Most of what he says about Ward is correct. The guy is boring, wont travel or takes risk and is arrogant. Froch has proven himself against the best time and time again. Ward hasn’t. Ward beat him in a close fight in America and Froch is entitled to ask why Ward wont come to the UK for a rematch where its obvious with the crowd support and home advantage Froch is a much better fighter. At the moment I would put Froch as the number 1 in the division because he is a bigger name, has more support and most importantl is more proven. Ward still has too many question marks and until he beats Froch in the UK I don’t think he should call himself number 1. People should give Froch more respect. He is great for boxing.

DUNNO WHY WE BOTHER BUT HERE GOES....
Fine and dandy that you like/admire Froch, there's plenty to like and admire but the cold hard facts are that he isn't as good as Ward and it's doubtful he ever well be. He may very well deserve another crack at Ward...he may even have a claim to suggest Ward should consider fighting in the UK but please don't kid yourself that Froch is the top dog in the SM division.
Ward has confortably beaten both Froch and Kessler, the only other two SM with anything approaching World Class credentialsFroch has proven himself against the best time and time again. Ward hasn’t.
No he didn't, he outclassed him widelyWard beat him in a close fight in America
Irrelevant how many fans he has. Hatton was more popular than Mayweather...no-one suggested he was worthy of the #1 spot on that basis. As for being more proven...see the point above about him losing to Ward...and throw the Kessler loss in there for good measure. At the moment I would put Froch as the number 1 in the division because he is a bigger name, has more support and most importantl is more proven
The only question mark over Ward is how good he could eventually turn out to be. No-one has extended to the degree where he's got out of third gear.Ward still has too many question marks and until he beats Froch in the UK I don’t think he should call himself number 1

Re: Froch
I'm actually convinced that many of the new fans that Froch has attracted over the past twelve months or so (so basically since his homecoming fight against Bute, which was the first time he'd boxed on these shores with a proper promotional team behind him) haven't actually seen the Ward fight, to be honest.
Having scanned YouTube the past couple of days, any recently-added Froch videos are jam-packed with Brits spinning out lines such as "Ward had home advantage, if the fight is in the UK then Froch knocks him out easily, no problem", or "Ward is such a pansie, all he does is hold and run, Froch is the proper fighter", as well as "It was a close fight, if Froch had won another round it would have been a draw and Ward was holding on near the end. Froch will batter him in a rematch".
They (and the Hearn family, if their recent comments are anything to go by) seem to be totally oblivious to the fact that, for the most part, it was Ward who was taking it to Froch, who was bossing the inside exchanges and who was backing his man up to the ropes. Ward didn't "run" in that fight at all, and to be honest was superior in just about every department. He outboxed, outmuscled, outsped and outthought Froch.
For a unification fight between two top class fighters, the first eight rounds were about as close to one fighter comprehensively outclassing another as you could wish to se under the circumstances.
I genuinely believe that there is a new wave of Froch fanatics who have simply heard Froch and his team saying that Ward is boring and a runner, and that the fight was close enough for home advantage to be a factor, over and over again and have taken it as gospel.

Or maybe people in Britain want to get behind Froch and support him rather than give him stick. Im not a fan of Ward so why should I be expected to worship him. He hasnt proved himself like Froch and until he beats Froch in the UK then I dont see why he should call himself number 1. The Kessler fight showed the differance home advantage can make. Froch lost a close decision to Ward last time when not at his best away from home. A fully fired up Froch out for revenge with 20,000 fans behind him beats Ward in the UK. So Froch is number 1 for me. If Ward comes over here and beats Froch then he deserves to be number 1. Until then, its Froch.
