Oh, Cook's gone. Mills strikes.

Cook looked like he was going along alright but that one kept low. Can Trott and Bell consolidate England's decent start? Please Trott, be positive!

And dyre curses them. I couldnt feel comfortable enough to put the mockers on a batting lineup that fails time after time after time.
Nobody good enough to carry their bat.. Poor batting to go with the pathetic bowling and nobody able to support them.
Easy win for NZ having exploited a poor attack to create massive scoreboard pressure.

i would have liked to have seen Buttler maybe up the order a bit, we have seen in county cricket he's not just a slogger, if given time to quickly get himself in which he would have today coming up the order a bit would have been good..

Sorry...but I have got a tenner on NZ to win this.
In all seriousness though, even if Cook had carried his bat I can't see the others sticking around long enough to save us.

Nah true, it's a poor side. The trophy is going to be short for them.

Good run rate this by England, lovely running there on that last ball. My optimism is growing and growing, it's a perfect batting wicket.

Since when has that ever stopped England making a mess of things?

Re: England vs New Zealand 2nd ODI Rose Bowl
England could have done something out of the box and promoted someone like Buttler or even Woakes for that matter to find some quick runs. But the problem is that Jonathan Trott can't bat anywhere lower than 3. So England just have to go with it, no real options.

Haha. Don't worry, Bell is in the mood here, Root and Morgan to come.

See what I mean?
Bell goes for 25, offering an easy catch from a poor shot. England 64-2.

Joe Root's in at 4. I would be happy to just follow his innings, no matter the match situation. Have a good one Joe.

Re: England vs New Zealand 2nd ODI Rose Bowl
As I said earlier, we won't get anywhere near 360. England just don't have the mentality to bat under pressure, especially chasing big targets in limited overs.
We rely on our bowlers to stop the opposition scoring too much...but that completely failed.

Re: England vs New Zealand 2nd ODI Rose Bowl
confidence in this team astounds me. They're terrible.
They could be in the perfect pitch against a team of octogenarians and they would still fluff it up.
This series is painful.. Showed just how far behind they are. Not even near 8th n the world. Ouch.

Looked so easy when some batsmen were on it. Out lot get on and it looks like a road that's been ploughed up by a giant tractor towing a T. rex.

Just a single of the last 12 balls. England need to keep the singles roling.

Don't worry, England are just consolidating for now. They had a good start run-wise, they can afford one or two quiet overs before picking it back up.

I call it high time for a clear out really. England have peaked under Cook and Flower now, they've had their day.

Re: England vs New Zealand 2nd ODI Rose Bowl
Lets just give up and let someone else have our place in world cricket now.
Ireland?
Actually we won the minor counties here cornwall last year and have some decent batsmen. We could give it a go.

Hmm, could help for a year before they leave. Give enough members of scongland some time to learn to bat and bowl from their northern masters before heading out alone again.
Good call.

15 overs gone, England have a decent platform from which to give this target a good go. New Zealand marginally ahead at this stage.

Re: England vs New Zealand 2nd ODI Rose Bowl
Oooh! Trott gets lucky there...nearly stumped.
Of course, it might hurry the innings along a bit.
Required Run Rate still just above 8 an over...not too bad yet.

Hundred up for England. Current run rate 5.5 per over (100 off 18). Need to accelerate soon before the target becomes unreachable.

McCullum should bowl his 5th bowlers while Trott's out there. So he could bowl his better bowlers to the likes of Morgan and Buttler.

Re: England vs New Zealand 2nd ODI Rose Bowl
Trott can't just put pressure on his partner like this. This has been a very harassed looking innings from young Joe. He has to account for the plodter at the other end as well.
Well well well!!!!. Would you believe it? Jonathan Trott hits a 6!!.

And no sooner do I write that England need to get a move on than Trott whacks a 4 and a 6 off Williamson in one over.

Franklin has been more of a containing bowler in ODIs these days, but he hasn't found his touch in this series, and I think Brendon's better off thinking of Williamson or even Elliott for that matter.

+1. On his day Jimmy can cut through a team. But if the ball isn't swinging he's a pie-thrower

Aargh!
Just when we were looking to push on Root heaves a big shot to long on and is caught for 28.
England 122-3.

We don't need to rush it yet. Poor shot. Morgan is possibly the last hope we have, trust him.

Joe Root has hold out, and I blame Jonathan Trott for that. The plodder, despite the 6 and all, has scored only 29 of 40.

I don't think you can blame Trott for poor execution of a shot by Root

We don't need to be trying to hit every ball out of the ground just yet...just maintain a decent pace.
NZ only really went to town in the last 10-15 overs.

Losing wickets at key moments and nobody standing up... It's just another limp chase from England. Such a shame. They just don't click in this form at all.
NZ getting revenge for their defeats down under with a stuffing.
