Looks like 320 at least with five to go...maybe 330
A lot to chase. But remember there are new rules now which make it tougher for the bowling team , especially on flat pitches like this.
McCullum hits a six ...ominous...if he has found his range

I just can't see us hitting out like this. No confidence anyway can bat through like guptil or bat big like BMC.
52 off 26 and an attack that can do nothing about it.
This is very worrying.

NZ batting superbly well. Like i said the other day, they could be worth a punt for the ICC Trophy. There bowling is a bit poor though.
No chance of us winning this, no chance.

Miserable stuff so far by England, Woakes in particular. More fine batting by Guptill has to be applauded though.

With no Southee in the NZ bowling today, it looks a quite weak line up.
Pitch is a belter and the outfield is quick.
Gonna need someone to go big, but could do it

And what little confidence the tests gave has been undone by a battering in this series. This has been amazing for the kiwis. Our poor selections have given them a boost and wrecked us.

Highest ever score here going first. England dead and buried.
Even Anderson going for sixes.

Top innings from Guptill ...McCullum teeing off now , and even Anderson has ended up going for over sixty...bit unlucky with that contentious boundary call against Trott.
You could say everything is going New Zealand's way...they have earned some luck though , have played this perfectly to maximize the advantage of winning the toss.

Stunning.
Overall this might be the weakest England attack i have ever seen. on a pitch with no turn it was a one man attack.

About right with your 350 estimate , trebs...might even be more as the wheels come off the England vehicle...
They appear to be allowing things like that disputed boundary to upset them , which should not happen , though it is human nature , I guess.
Going to be a tough chase

While there's no denying NZ batted well, I think England were equally shocking and made them look far better than they actually are.
Magnificent innings from Guptill - really punished England for not taking that early chance.
Our bowlers looked absolutely toothless for much of the innings and were downright embarrassing for the last 10-15 overs - getting smacked all around the park. Our fielding wasn't much better either.
I will state here and now England won't even get close to the 360 they need to win.

Dernbach gone for 87...that should be it surely ? Not that he was Robinson Crusoe today...
Gulptill one of the great ODI innings
359 ought to be a winner...though I guess Australia thought that in Johannesburg a few years back...
I have to work tomorrow so if England do work a miracle it will just be highlights for me...'night all.

The coaches just show contempt for paying customers pick this this time after time.
Disgusted is the only word. NZ picked a proper side, England picked this shambles and happy to be shown up. They are going to show themselves up badly in the icc trophy.

Don't worry, Broad and Finn will be fit for the next ODI = no more Woakes or Dernbach. Let's just try not to embarrass ourselves when we bat.

Nigth Alfie. Sorry you had to see England putting that out,
At least you saw a truly class NZ. Well done to them and huge congrats on the series win.
England need to scrap this and try something new in the dead rubber.

Secret agent Dernbach strikes again.
Can he not be deported back to Safferland? I'd prefer Jade Goody in the side.

Re: England vs New Zealand 2nd ODI Rose Bowl
Super score from NZ. Guptil was fantastic - a template on how to bat in ODis nowadays.
Hard to assess England's bowling on that pitch but Ashely Giles was seen taking notes as Dernbach's last ball squirted for four - probably writing sown thing along the lines of 'don't pick him again'. In all seriousness, it really should be all she wrote for England and Derbach. As for Woakes, it's early days, but the screaming on this board to get him in the team look a bit puzzling to me. Average batsman, average bowler. Reminds me of Mark Ealham *shudders*
Anyway, great chance for Bell and Trott to find some form on a belter of a pitch in great conditions for batting before the CT and then the Ashes. Odds are with NZ though, which will mean a poor (home) start for Ashely Giles as the leading the team.

England score? 180 all out,
3 nil in this series and losing every game in the trophy judging by this guff. Lets hope Finn and broad can change that.

They're missing their best bowler - Southee. It's a very flat track, nice weather, little pressure to begin with. We can do it.

Alfie, they did score 360 in the WC Final v India. That was more than enough that day.
You're thinking of the 434? Yes... point taken!

England need to go at around a run a ball up until the 30 over mark, then they need to step on it. Having wickets in hand is crucial.

No fielding better, bowling better and nearly caught one.
With this scoreboard pressure it's hard to see eng getting close.

I've been travelling today, just turned on the PC and saw NZ's scored 359. The surprise was that Jade Dernbach went only for 87, I was expecting a fabulous ton there!.

I think its high time that the England team management accept the obvious and move on from Dernbach, he's not international standards. Could be handy on a good day in domestic cricket, but not really international class.
But it seems there is a worrying lack of depth in seam bowling in the ODI level for England.

Good start from England - going at over a run a ball after 6 overs, no wickets lost yet.

Indeed, that's what I was saying.
Aussie apparently have them coming out of their ears, should see them dominate the ashes for some time surely?

At the risk of putting the mockers on England, this is an encouraging start. Cook and Bell going nicely here.
...oh for god's sake!!!
There goes Cook, bowled for 34 and England 50-1.
