Lions tour going forward.
So the initial run out vs the Baa Baas is done. We can't complain too much about it as Lions fans, plenty of tries in a dominant performance. We had a look at 23 players a number of combinations and the abilities of our outfield players to strike and score when opportunities arise.
The team were both powerful and creative in attack and when tested in defence seemed to find it easy to turn over ball and nullify opposition attacks.
With this thread I would like people to post their opinions on what needs to be done to improve ready for the tougher tests ahead.
The S15 teams will be far stronger, wallabies in or out...! None will be taken lightly.
One very big positive from yesterday's game, was the unity within the squad. When young Farrell was given a tough time, we saw the other lads give him encouragement, Jamie Roberts could be seen mouthing "don't let it bother you". A number of others gave a pat on the back in support.
Even after the game, Phillips and Ben Youngs were filmed chatting about the game and laughing.
This is a good sign, competition is fierce for places, everyone wants their chance to be a Lions hero, it's a boyhood dream of any British or Irish born player, to be in that list of tour winning performances like Dawson or Gibbs in 97, Guscott and Calder in 89, Edwards and Bennett in 74 and King Barry in 71.

Going forward we need to not read too much into the baa baas game otherwise it will give us a false sense of security. Critical evaluation of that game is required if we are to move forward and every player can improve on their performance last weekend. Gatland and his coaches need to make that explicit

Agreed Ruby.
The Barbarians are a bit of a joke these days. They really don't offer much against the top sides any more

Ruby. Occasionally you get something right and I can't help agreeing with you. Don't worry I'm sure it won't last
