Ignoring this laughable debate about Djokovic and steroids (at the risk of offending the Djokovic fans: he's a skinny little b***er - if he's on steroids then after I've finished eating my top hat i'll make the point that they sure as hell aren't working!) PointsThingy has made important calculations regarding the battle for number 1, and two main scenarios are possible:
1. If Nadal does not win Roland Garros, Djokovic is world number 1
2. If Djokovic makes the final at Roland Garros, he is world number 1, regardless of Nadal's progress.
Therefore, Nadal can only keep the world number 1 ranking post RG by defending his title and hoping Djokovic loses prior to the final.

Sonic,
Please drop the attitude towards the moderators of the forum. Libelous claims were made under your alias. That is the situation. You have given an excuse that you left yourself logged in which does nothing to change the fact that the claims were made under your alias. To then accuse the moderators of being stupid for not believing you does little to help your case.
Please return to the topic of conversation and let this, as well as the attitude towards the moderators, drop.
Cheers,
DT.

Well we have to be happy to see finally a player able to handle this ugly shot that is the moonball.
It's been so frustrating to see for the last 7 years clay being dominated by a guy who coudl simply draw tons of UEs from his opponent without having to hit a decent number of winners.
In that respect I am very happy Djoko won.

Wow, bro, 'a decent number of winners' WTF?! loool. Nadal ain't as defensive as you make him seem. You simply cannot go 7 years dominating even on clay without attacking.

Re: ATP Rome Masters: The Final
Legendkillar, Soderling is as previously mentioned defending 1,200 points. The gap between Soderling and Berdych/Ferrer is huge so he is unlikely to drop below them even if he puts in a poor performance, however it starts to widen the gap between him and Murray to a rather large hole; there is now 650 points between the pair, at the start of Roland Garros that gap increases to (provisionally) 1,670 points.legendkillar wrote:Stealth,

So whilst it means little for Ferrer and Berdych fans, it gives Murray a chance to create a decent gap between the pair in time for his own big defence at Wimbledon, where Soderling loses little whilst Murray loses big.

Nitb, has a right to be happy, I think the mods are on edge Nitb because of comments about doping allegations and as such and trying to keep things from boiling over.
As a Djoko fan, all i can say is that I am absolutely ecstatic to win that match after the brutal and emotional marathon Djoko went through against Murray answers the question as regards to Djokovic's fitness and mental toughness.

You guys make the most of it because things like this don't happen very often!
Novak is there on merit and because of that it will make some fans of other players just a bit jealous because they have had it there own way and now there is a new kid on the block.
I know if Andy ever gets that elusive first slam his fans would be over the moon.
So enjoy

Thanks Sportslover, I mean it was hard being a Nole fan throughout 09 and 10. But now I am enjoying this streak, and I want to live it up while it lasts because I know that it won't last forever. It is nice to get your moment in the sunshine. I couldn't stand to watch his serve in 10 and 09 as it was just a work in progress you could tell.
To me the big difference is better serving and fitness, which has lead him to a place of incredible confidence and self belief.

Michael O, you are correct it is a shame that Tenez can not appreciate one of the finest tennis players in the history of the game I have had this debate with him on the old 606 as well. Neither Nadal or Fed is my favorite player but I don't think for a second that they are anything but super talented.

Hi Awesome. I think if you watch the replay of the handshake (it's on you tube) you will find that Novak's body language at the net was not the warmest neither, he didn't even look at his opponent. But I guess we all see things differently.

Nadal is a moonballer. Like it or not. You cannot watch all those moonballs and pretend he is not a moonballer. This is a bit ridiculous and certainly doesn;t make you either fair or intelligent.
Saying that Karlovic is essentially a great server isn't far wrong so why can't we say the same of Nadal's moonballing? And the way he got dispatched by someone who can handle those moonballs simply proves my point.
Secondly, 606v2 can at best be as good as 606. The more diverse views the better. Wums can be more savvy than serious posters whose sole concern is to appear balanced.

Well I'm with Michael on this one. Calling Karlovic a great server is a making a positive statement. Resorting back to calling people a "Moonballer" or a "Shanker" is back to those derogatory undertones that we are sick to the back teeth of.
The success of 606v2 thus far is the effort that posters have taken to communicate without using those lazy, derogative phrasings.

Tenez, I don't want you to stop posting, I enjoy your self-righteous certainty and your tireless, opinionated nature. But I disagree with you Rafa isn't just a moonballer, he has a good flat forehand and a lot of game. Ok lets say he is a moonballer, he is a moonballer with 9 grandslam championships, now that is a big difference.

Woudl calling Nadal a "loopier" be easier on the ears?
If 606v2 really wants to be successful, it must learn to be bigger than those small derogative phrases on players. Calling Federer shanky or Gasquet bottler would not hurt my feelings.
This is a tennis forum...or so I think! Let me know if I got it wrong!

-------------------------
No. Like Karlo or Sampras are not just good servers.
The difference is one has 9 slams the other (Karlo) hasn't but speed the courts up and you might be surprised by the outcome.
The way Nadal gets beaten so convincingly by players who can cut down those UEs on these very high topspins (does that sound better?) proves my point.
He has won teh FO a few times by constantly hammering high topspin balls to Federer...until Federer got his surname of shanky. I thought it was only fair to call Nadal a moonballer...cause frankly that what they are.

Like I said Tenez, you can justify and dissimilate all you like. The courts are the same for everyone, the balls are the same for everyone. slow, fast or whatever. Rafa is a 9 grandslam champion moonballer. I would happily die with the moonballer tag if I could have one grandslam championship. Results my friend that is what counts. Do Jose Mourinho's teams play the most beautiful football? No but they win. Winning is what counts and Rafa wins.

--------------------------------------
The way one achieves those results or not is much more important for me.
we know we can always bend the rules to give onelsef an extra edge, like adding 20s to the allowed time between points. I tend to respect more those who play accoding to the rules and try not to bend them to their advantage for the sole purpose of results.

Scoreboard Tenez, and all your well constructed arguments about how you win is more important doesn't change the record books. The man has never been accused of cheating by any credible source if the ATP has a problem with the time he takes between points they should fine him or give him a point penalty. Either way the man in you mind is a moonballer with no talent, I say fine he is a moonballer with 9 slams a big freakin difference.

I wouldn't make to much of it, all the hugging and kissing is a bit fake to begin with. And it probably got a bit old and awkward for them to do it all the time especially when it is the same guy winning recently. I actually think there is more bad blood between Novak and Roger than between Novak and nadal or murray. Those two don't like each other and neither do their entourages. Although Novak may be the guy that insures Fed's 16 grandslam mark.

No hiding place in a best of 5 sets match.
Just look at Murray vs Federer. Murray pounds Federer in the Best of 3 Sets matches, but Federer was far superior in the Best of 5 Sets.
Nothing to get uptight about.

Soniboom, weren't you the same guy that said Novak would not beat Rafa on clay this year? Weren't you the same guy that claimed that novak beat Rafa at madrid because of the altitude? I know maybe the only wins on clay that count for Novak is if he plays Rafa inside a submarine at 1000 meters below sea level. I am not saying Novak will beat Rafa at RG, Rafa deserves to be the favorite, but on current form it would not surprise me the least if Novak won. By the way would it have made much of difference last night if novak had to play another set? Or in madrid? Novak played three hours the night before and never looked in danger of losing a set last night.
And the difference between Novak and murray is pretty obvious even for a murray fan to see.
