At first glimpse, Gibbs above BOD surely?

Re: top 50...
Depends if the question is best Lion as in most sucessful or best as in best player. If its best player then Drico is clearly a better player than Gibbs.
I would place McBride ahead of Edwards as a bigger Lions legend because he won more matches and he was captain of some of the most sucessful Lions tours ever.

Can BOD really be called a loser from the '05 series given that he won all games he played in bar the one v the Maori (in which he scored a try) and a couple of mins of the first test. Not sure BOD should be judged by this series as he didnt feature at the business end.
The other two series he featured in were damn close series IMO.
I think it would be different if BOD was poor in the two series he played in however, he was one of the Lions best players both times he featured lost series or not.

Makes you think what Dai Young or John Bentley could have achieved if they hadn't gone to league or if union had turned pro sooner.

Re: top 50...
Sorry but BOD at 10.... What has he actually achieved.... 1 try vs AUS?
Longevity does not equal greatness.
He's a great player and had he not been taken out mafia style in 05 maybe he would warrant a high posting.... But the fact is he hasn't done anything. He was up against Adi Jacobs in 09... The worst bok according to many in years yet he didn't look dominant, in fact Jacobs probably had the better series of the two.
Guys like Richard hill, Brian Moore, Scott Gibbs, Scott Hastings etc have done far more in a lions jersey then BOD has ever done... That's not opinion, that's a fact.
Will greenwood could have been a stand out performer in 01.... But he got injured... We can't base a list on what might have been, only what was.
guscott for instance was at 12... Jokes. Won the series in 89, was instrumental in 97.
perhaps the selector is a fortune teller and BOD will roll back the years and create some genuine magic.... But from 01-09 he would be lucky to be the top 30.

Would you stop talking nonsense about Adi Jacobs. BOD was outstanding in '09.

Re: top 50...
I reckon Tony O'Reilly could be higher, purely on the basis that my Dad still thinks he's the best winger ever to tour NZ.

Re: top 50...
Guns do you think BODs performance in 09 was better than Scott Hastings in 89??? Not a chance
Did BOD have a good tour in 09, sure but he wasn't dominant like you're suggesting.... Roberts had a better tour, Croft had a better tour, Phillips had a better tour. And whatever you say... He was facing a weak opposite number... Can't run away from that.
In fact Henderson had a better tour out of the two of them in 01.
It doesn't take away what's he's done in an Ireland shirt... But others have done better in a lions jersey... On all his tours.
Changing the subject... What is Ieuen Evans doing so high.... 3 tours yes but matt Stevens has 2. 7 caps .... 1 try and that was the luckiest try of all time... A far bigger howler than SCW in 05, Colin charvis in 01, ROG in 09 combined. Good servant, good lion, one of the greatest...no.

Re: top 50...
Who will made the list in 10 years time?
Mike Phillips and Jamie Roberts have a chance on this tour to stake a claim
This is a very young touring side and some of the players on this tour will have a chance to go 2 or even 3 more tours.
O'Driscoll was on the last tour of Australia, who will make it to the next?

The top 10 is very Wales dominated. No surprises there. No need to thank us, as it's a team effort...
