Del Potro back in Action at Queens
For all Del Potro fans, he is back on action today and is playing Xavier Malisse at Queens. He looks very nervous thou and playing a veteran in the very first match of his comeback not gonna be easy.
I will follow up the match here, I hope he is fully ready and punch his weight in the grass season.

Malisse has a good chance, that will be a tough tough match.

I'm delighted to see him back and hope he's fighting fit. He's definitely not got an easy match against the X-Man on grass but you'd expect DelPo to win it.

Del Potro holds for 1-0 lead, was in a spot of danger at 15-30, for Del Potro so far its all about Big serves, Aces and double faults.

Lost the second set 6-1 to X-Man.
Looks very uncomfortable with the low bounce.

Good to see him back - he has been so unlucky with injury and illness. Didn't think he looked 'blooming' when he was interviewed by Beeb either earlier or yesterday.

He doesn't look anywhere near fit at the moment but all credit to Malisse, he's playing vintage tennis here!!

Delpo must be the one player everyone likes. (bar Tsonga?)

Love him too, somehow humble and modest, for me on par with Ferrer concerning proper court behavior and gentlemen play.

Tsonga, Ferrer, Del Po - always a disarming and charming smile.
But I did not like his argument with Fergusthough, despite the bad line-calls being legitimate. about bad line calls, which was legitimate. Fergus should have been a bit more proactive.

It could have easily been a st.set loss to Malisse if not for few good shots in the tie breaker, anyways he lives to fight another day, every tough match will make him better, I would take a hard fought loss than some easy wins at this moment for him.

Great attitude ,skills, very friendly nature and best of all inspiring tennis, Tsonga on the other hand is a great talent and a friendly natured guy like Del Po but his attitude to win a tournament sucks when compared to Del Po. If Del Po had the fitness of Tsonga we would have seen him as a multiple GS champ.
More often people gets peed off at Tsonga for the way he turns up for the match, lets not discuss the disappointment of his semi-final encounter in FO for the moment.

I'm quite impressed by how Del Boy has got that back hand slice thing going. It certainly means I can no longer call him one-dimensional
Two-dimensional it will be from now

U see he is learning and improving every day, but the problem is injury curtailed his success.
Back on that one hand slice, I am not happy with it much, he is using it way too much, before his double hand backhand use to more defensive yet solid, not this slice means he is trying to play more inside out fore hand and sometimes its not working to his advantage and he is losing points easy. Another draw back I noticed is the way he is so casual with that shot, he is not moving freely on his back hand side.
While its a great addon he is certainly over using it and its affecting his natural game play. I am missing his down the line double hand backhand and heavy cross court backhand both shots gone a begging since the slice.

It may be that he is using the slice because the wrist is still problematic and he doesn't want to hit through the ball as much.

Could he come through under the radar at Wimbledon ?
Seem to remember him causing more than a few surprises in the Olympics last year .......

If he could push Fed to 19-17 at OG last year then why not be a dark horse this year.
As always, a lot depends on the weather. If its fast and slick he has no chance.

Can fully understand you adopting a selective memory approach there Red, given the success rate of your various predictions.
Your Delpo-hasn't-got-a-prayer-on-grass-versus-Federer was perhaps bettered in more recent times only by your "Rafa is 7th favourite for RG" .........
