Pick your favourite two...
Music Cup Round 7 - Dead Artists
First topic message reminder :
I really wanted to call this round 'coffin botherers' but I refrained so as not to offend the sensibilities of the wider forum.
Last round was a romp for transgender anthem Lola, followed by Rod Stewarts ode to a slightly morally corrupt woman sleeping with a schoolboy.
Back on more solid ground with this round, so please select your TWO favourite tracks from the poll. Maybe leave a reason why you voted for what you did, or even better, insult the selection of some of the rubbish tracks here.
The next round will be a bit of a narrower field, and I want your album openers. I.e. songs that are first on the album upon which they were originally released. I am taking a stand and refusing to accept compilation/best of albums because they will be all good songs.
Get them into me by Monday morning if you can and we'll get this hopping along.
Leaderboard is on the last round thread if you are so inclined to view it.

Bananarama. Genesis. Erasure. Lionel Richie. The list is endless [love].
You like Lionel Ritchie and you lambasted people in the last round for liking Rod Stewart????

Going back to this, I would have:
Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares To U
Otis Redding - Try A Little Tenderness
Lenny Kravitz - American Woman
Fats Domino - Blueberry Hill
Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower
All the above, imo, are better than the original recordings.

Hahahah that I will give you!
That Johnny Cash - Hurt cover for me is the best I can think of. Countless brilliant covers on the Nirvana MTV album, Man Who Sold the World stands out, though I prefer Jesus Doesnt Want Me For a Sunbeam. Very much like Fyfe Dangerfield's Always a Woman and Ray Lamontagne's To Love Somebody, as well as Heartbeats by Jose Gonzalez. Twist and Shout is also a favourite cos of how we sing it at West Ham. And Eva Cassidy's Fields of Gold, even if I'm tired of it. Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (thanks google) is pretty nice.
Did not know I Fought The Law was a cover

Loved that intro, used to love Shane O'Mac back when he got into the hardcore division. That fight against Steve Blackman was legendary.

Lots of people like Westlife and the Twilight films/books. Sheer volume of numbers is not enough to make you right.

It's a parody, not a cover! Also, whilst funny, it's not one of Am Trams best songs (they went to my medical school, seen Adam Kay live several times)
