Confederations Cup
First topic message reminder :
Just kicked off and Neymar has scored a wonder goal to kick the competition off. A very good way of proving some doubters wrong I suppose.

Re: Confederations Cup
Do you think FIFA will ask Spain not to score more than 9 goals against Tahiti? If it's a cricket score it will be embarrassing to FIFA.

Re: Confederations Cup
Everybody except Ramos is dropped from the Spain team.
The team that replaces them would still have a pretty good shot at winning the World Cup.
Juan Mata, David Silva, Santi Cazorla, David Villa, Fernando Torres all starting.

Come on Tahiti, you can score 1. It doesn't matter if you let in 15, you can score 1!

Is Ramos too indispensable or do they literally have no other CBs?

Re: Confederations Cup
It's not like Tahiti are really, really awful. They're 138th in the world, not bottom of the rankings (and not Scotland either before anyone makes a joke )

Re: Confederations Cup
1 on 1 with the Tahitian keeper and Torres goes for the jew goal.
Ever you needed a sign of how much of a shadow of his former self he is.
2-0 Spain. Spain look like they're playing at 10%

Floodgates. The funny thing is, like the World Cup, Torres may end up with the golden boot despite the fact he's awful.

Why did Torres take that? He's rubbish at penalties, always has been.

Re: Confederations Cup
Upmost respect for Tahiti, they played football and I would have loved them to have scored. Full credit to Spain for how they played but Tahiti are winners for even getting there
Re: Confederations Cup
Great story, but like San Marino, you do question the point.

Re: Confederations Cup
Odd situation where the team on 3 points is in a must win scenario vs the team without any.
Since they only beat Tahiti 6-1, draw here and Uruguay will know smash Tahiti by more than 5 and they'll likely be through.

Disagree, they won a qualifying tournament so deserve to be there as much, if not more, than Italy

If so, Spain ignored the request.

Italy aren't down 16-1 in their first 2 games.
Nice story for them but the point stands.

And my point that they qualified stands, it's not as if they were chosen at random
Final will be Brazil vs Spain but we knew that before the tournament

Re: Confederations Cup
Thats fair enough, like San Marino I just don't see the point of a team thats only competitive contribution is to every other teams GD.
Still onward to an interesting tie. Cavani and Suarez were starved against Spain, will they click against Nigeria?

As for Nigeria, half arsing it against tahiti makes this a must win. Some improved finishing will be needed

Re: Confederations Cup
I agree with GSC's point. It's a "competition". Tahiti got there on merit but there aim is to keep the score below 10
All stems from FIFA bizarrely allowing Australia to switch from Oceania to Asia. Scotland/Wales should switch to Oceania, they might actually qualify for a tournament then

He's scored more goals for Nigeria in 50 caps for Nigera (4) than he has scored for Chelsea in 277 appearances (2).

Lovely goal by Forlan, think he's such a class player, World Cup 2010 he outshone everybody. It's odd to think he failed at United.

Cavani and Suarez really don't click at all, that should be a potent partnership but there is no connection.

Stark contrast between Forlan and Cavani then, is that a forward worth £50 million+?

His 90+ goals for Napoli in the last 3 season probably have more to do with that than his international form in fairness, that said £50 million still seems a bit steep, just a sign of the crazy ways football is changing

Yeah I get that, but a forward worth £50 million would bury that chance, they'd have least got it on target. I do think that he's a big risky move, players moving from Italy seem to struggle in the Premier League for some reason.

Looking forward to tonights match. I think it'll be 1-1 with a draw being enough to see Brazil top the group.

The most interesting thing I've seen Hulk do this tournament is gee the crowd up. That's £50m worth right there.
No El Shaawaway is disappointing. Injured?

Barcelona's philosophy is give it to Messi. Neymar is too greedy to do that. They may well work together, but I'll only believe it when I see it.
