Lions haiku
And while we've got those creative juices flowing, how about trying your hand at a British & rish Lions haiku to pass the time:
Hogg was not a ten,
He attacks and he defends,
Fifteen is his best.
Knock yer socks off!

Re: Lions haiku
While that has the syllabic flow of a Haiku, it is really far too poetic, and contains no seasonal reference. So far less poetic but:
The Lions Went To Oz,
The Summer turns to winter
We are divided.

I read up on it on Wikipedia and I still dont know what they are. Never heard of them before but they seem to have three common characteristics: a cutting word (WTF?), juxtaposition and seasonal reference. Made up of three verses of 5,7 and 5 on (again WTF?)

An 'on' is an inflection, which is like a syllable in Japanese but not entirely.GunsGerms wrote:I read up on it on Wikipedia and I still dont know what they are. Most English speakers just work in three lines - 5 syllables, then 7, then 5 again

YES!! A seasonal reference, a dash of wit and the juxtaposition of north and south. I think this is what the japanese are after. You even have a cutting word in there demostrating the difference between North and south.
