Please let BOD come out of this tour with pride (of Lions).
I fear for an icon.
Head, shoulders, knees and toes (knees and toes). Almost every bit of the man is fading.
Head with concussions and an unforgiving ego.
Shoulders, knees and every other joint increasingly liable to fail.
Toes do not get upfield like they used to.
Yours,
Portnoy

Nice try Portnoy. Lots of reocurring themes in your posts. Your secret and voyeristic love for all things Drico and Leinster still evident and to the fore.

I would be careful putting come out and pride together in the same sentence. You could confuse that with a popular annual event in Sydney.

I thought they'd closed that event down, local council pulled the pin on funding IIRCkiakahaaotearoa wrote:I would be careful putting come out and pride together in the same sentence. You could confuse that with a popular annual event in Sydney.

Secret?
Voyeristic?
BOD's body has been a matter of speculation as to fitness for purpose for Lions (or even Irish) duty for a couple of years.
He should have been Tour captain.
He should not have been conserved in aspic.
For a man with so few games in a long career, he should be fine...

Still seems up and running Pete. NSW policemen were accused of brutality this year hitting a bystander with their truncheons. Next year the NSW police have said they won't get so directly involved in the parade...

I actually think johnathan davies has caught the eye more than BOD or any other lions centre with some immense performances at 12/13, still BOD was always going to start on reputation even if tuilagi and roberts were fit. Davies and BOD have alot more skill and class about there play than anyback line that may include manu or jamie, not as much blunt force trauma, but when you have cuthbert and northy boy stampeding from out wide the skill, pace, handling and left foot boot of the in form davies offers more in my opinion.

There is always a risk when an 'old man' takes the field.
One of the risks is that his old age will be proven and he'll be dragged off the field early to let the young speedos get on with their hero work.
The other risk is that the old warrior will show up a few of the young'uns and make them realise how long they still have to go in their respective careers before becoming living legends.
O'Driscoll can't really lose People won't blame him for his inability to hack it no-more as he's encircled by junior gazelles. But he'll get the plaudits if he ably helps the gazelles to step up the evolutionary trail and become true Lions.
PS. He has 20 more starts than McCaw and only two years head start on McCaw's International career. Do the maths, that's about right. 9 point something games a year for each.
