Stoke City have signed 21-year-old defender Marc Muniesa from Barcelona on a free transfer.

Muniesa, who was a member of the Spain squad that recently won the European Under-21 Championship, has signed a four-year contract.

He becomes manager Mark Hughes' second new signing of the summer following the arrival of Dutch international Erik Pieters from PSV Eindhoven last week.

Problem is, these teams are signing players to huge deals on long-term contracts, meaning if they go down in 3 years, they can't afford years 4-6. Albion continue to be the only side that budgets appropriately - ensure you have the cash to honour your commitments, then spend the rest.

West Ham had £100m of debt when the porn twins took them over. They have been given a free £80m from Newham Council. How is this FFP?
