I've been there full time the past month, it's amazing to see the progress.
Construction a pitch is a lot more work then people think. Desso have done a lot of elite stadiums hence the huge cost.
Everton are having the same hybrid grass pitch too which will be ready for this coming season, they're just having the fibers injected into the turf whereas Old Trafford has a whole new construction.

Check that Afro, Everton FC having the same standard of pitch as Old Trafford, The Emirates & Wembley.

Hope this new pitch is better than the old ones which used to cut up easily. Arsenal have a nice pitch.

I knew that we were having the work down with the artificial bit that stops it wearing down in winter. It was something that Moyes initiated, so I did wonder whether he would look to do the same at United.

It should suit Martinez having that pitch

Its the same as Arsenals Viva. Turf with synthetic fibers. Basically as the roots grow they become interlocked with the synthetic fibers, binding together becoming stronger.
I took a 2 inch core sample at Wolves training ground (they have the same but not Desso) & you can actually see the fibers & roots wrapped & knotted together. Quite cool but Im a geek.

Afro wrote:I knew that we were having the work down with the artificial bit that stops it wearing down in winter. It was something that Moyes initiated, so I did wonder whether he would look to do the same at United.
Essentially thats what we need it for over here. Our winters can be bad & pitches take a battering which leads to people higher up complaining about the standard & quality, sadly its always the groundsman who gets blamed but when they have poor weather conditions & for example 3 matches in 14 days on the pitch its going to take a battering.
Old Trafford pitch has been planned for some time Afro so I doubt Moyes put it into action but if he did for Everton im sure hes happy its now at Man United.

By December the O.T pitch is terrible so hopefully this new grass will reduce the wear and tear. Is it expensive? Everyone should get it in the premier league.

Yes they did, he was supposed to be one of the best groundsman and one of his first task was to deal with the oil spillage at the Bernabeu.

Correct they did, Paul Burgess. I asked him for tickets to Classico, said Id book days off, use them to work for him for free in exchange for a ticket....didnt work though. He basically said if he says yes to one person & it gets out loads more would moan at him for not saying yes to them & then they would expect. SO he say no to everyone (id imagine his close friends & family are ok though).
He had my MD out theere for the Cl Final other year.

Viva, the Desso construction/installment cost 800k.
Pitch should be a hell of a lot better this season.

Life time varies on a lot on things.
They shouldn't have to replay the pitch at all during the season. Most clubs will renovate at the end of each season.
This was Leeds United when they started their renovations in June:

And then with the grass coming though:
Spoiler:

Old Trafford has Rugby played there too, remember what Wigan's pitch looked like the other year? Cut up really bad. But Old Traffod have ended the partnership with Rugby as they dont want this new pitch being overused.
Seems like Etihad will be getting it as Ive priced them up with Rugby posts recently.

But he will most likely stay, think most of it depends on his Chief Advisor Paul Stretford as he like a payday.

Richard Scudamore defends Premier League's England role
Whats everyone opinion on this?
English under-21s made up 2.28% of the total minutes played in 2012-13 with Manchester City, Chelsea, Swansea, Stoke and Wigan failing to field an under-21 English player all season.
Thats pretty bad IMO.

We do have quite a strong british contingent in our side, until this upcoming season

Let's get this straight:

1. The participation bonus is a bonus for managers taking part in the league. I have done so all week.

2. The remainder of the bonus is for tactics and voting. I voted, so the bonus should be rightfully mine.

Incorrect lads. The £1.5m participation bonus, as agreed at the time, was the league's way of saying 'thanks for playing, here's a bonus to keep you posting'. It was the additional £1m that was for tactics and voting. So if it's any bonus I'm denied, it's that one. But only half of it. So I should get £2m really.

Each week you receive 1m as a "taking part" bonus. You will receive a further £1.5m if you provide tactics and vote (with reasons) on time. If you fail to meet any of the stipulations then you do not receive the £1.5m.

You opted not to provide tactics, so the previous decision to deny the 1.5m stands.

Twas the other way around. Everyone gets £1m and then the extra for doing both tactics and voting was £1.5m. Anyone who has failed to do either (or both) has not got any of the £1.5m

So by my reckoning, you should get £1m

It's not £750k for Tactics and £750k for Voting, it's £1.5m for Tactics AND Voting.

Otherwise I could withdraw from the cup too and get £4.5m from three lots of voting. That wouldn't be fair on others who get the same from participating.
