Re: surrey vs hampshire royals FLT20
Thanks, JimBob.
One issue for us could be fielding / fitness in the frantic hurly burly of t20. Six of the squad are over 35 whilst Tremlett is some way off full mobility.
With that in mind, maybe Lewis and Tremlett to miss out. I believe and certainly hope that Dunn wil play.

Looking forward to the game guys, should be a good one.
Hoping Dimi will be fit enough to play, without him our bowling looks pretty weak. Just seen Briggs has been released from England so he can play, good news

Hi Jimbo - encouraging for us if your bowling is weak. On paper (where Surrey are still pretty good! ), we have a strong batting line up for this one. If Lewis and Tremlett are left out as I suggested yesterday (although very much a guess), we could have Ansari and Batty at 9 and 10 which should be a very strong tail.jimbohammers wrote:Looking forward to the game guys, should be a good one.

JimBob - no disrespect to Burns but that's a real blow. Davies is a tremendous opener in limited overs cricket.

Sounds like a poor batting performance. Hants well on target to win with an over or two and plenty of wickets to spare.

Brain takes his third wicket - so the defeat will be heavy rather than crushing.

Doubt it. He wouldn't have got in early enough to make any difference with the batting - which is where we lost it.

I think hibernation is the best bet for Surrey supporters while this 20 over nonsense is on. Dunno how many games we play, but I predict we'll lose 90% of them..................rain for the other 10%!

Re: surrey vs hampshire royals FLT20
Just back from the game, happy to get off to a good start. Was a little disappointed Dimi wasn't playing but Griffiths came in and did a great job.
Was surprised to see no Ponting in the team (guessing he was injured?). Burns looked in good touch before getting out.
Thought Briggs bowled brilliantly, really showed England why he deserves a chance. Funnily enough he drives back to London tonight to join back up with the England squad.
Thought Dunn bowled ok, very good pace, he looks to have good potential. Also correct me if I am mistaken, he produced a superb bit of fielding to save a boundary? Wasn't sure if it was him or Roy?
Good to see Carberry kept up his brilliant form in the one day formats. How he doesn't get in the England ODI squad is a joke (maybe i'm biased).
Little word on McKenzie too, class player and did what was needed to get the win.
Oh and before I forget, your favourite player 'the brain' bowled well! Haha

Hi Jimbo - a good night for you and your boys. Same old, same old for Surrey.jimbohammers wrote:Just back from the game, happy to get off to a good start. Was a little disappointed Dimi wasn't playing but Griffiths came in and did a great job.

I saw most of the game late last night on a SKY recording - effectively ''live'' for me as I didn't know how the game had gone at all after the opening couple of overs.
Completely agree with all your comments. Carberry (one time Surrey player!) was an imposing figure and seemed very much in control. He really did enough himself but then McKenzie finished things off more than adequately. Briggs appeared to subtlely vary his pace which brought him rewards. Generally, I thought Hants bowled well as a unit.
Surrey very much missed Davies (unwell) and Ponting (injured hand). Too many played the ''see things through'' role with the bat but no one was able to bring impetus to the innings. I think JimBobGooner said above that we were 40 light - bang on!
I too quite liked the look of Dunn. Felt his figures were a bit harsh on him. Yes, it was Dunn who pulled off that fantastic boundary stop. Lovely Roy - Ansari combo as well to get the run out. Yeah, the Brain bowled well but the game was already up by then. Tremlett doesn't seem suited to t20 at the moment with his lack of mobility. Mahmood was poor but I expected that!
Batty was typically open and honest enough to say in post match interview that Hants outplayed us in all aspects. Exactly right.

Re: surrey vs hampshire royals FLT20
Hi Guildford
Agree about being quite a few runs light, i think we made it a little harder for ourselves than it needed to be!
I still think you will do ok in this comp, as long as Davies is playing, i rate him really highly and think he is your best one day batsman. Also Maxwell will be a really good signing, he won us a couple of games last year on his own. Not only is he a big hitter but he is a handy bowler.
As for Hants, it looks like another year in Div 2, but another great showing in the one day comps! We are a pretty young side, who have probably been brought up on 20/20, so our side definitely suits the shorter forms.
We really need to get back into Div One though
