Why is Frank Warren the bad guy ???

606 seems to be a shrine to Eddie Hearn.........Fortunate Son of matchroom owner Barry Hearn........Eddie Hearn would have made it regardless of talent and he's basically made his name from his Dad and a Boxing channel that is probably struggling that has tried to bring Boxing to the masses for a resonable price........

Warren had to fight his way up to the top..........He's started a channel (which I don't agree with) which shows world title fights that you wouldn't have seen on SKY...Shows up and coming British talent and gives lots of Boxing to posters who always claimed that SKY never respected Boxing enough..........Boxnation whatever you think was a brave decision and a brave risk...........

Now sure Warren hides behing the WBo and doesn't always showcase his Men with the best..............But hey he's brought Boxing to the fans albeit PPV................

Now I've heard of playing devils advocate....

It is to a certain extent...........However I'm sick of the glad-handing of Eddie that goes on all the time here........

Most of the guys pay to watch Boxnation and all they do is slag Frank off..........

Boxnation was a brave decision although I question it's good for Boxing.......

If it wasn't for the principle I'd buy it...........

Not questioning that - boxnation isn't a bad thing, sure we'd rather have it on bbc one, but those days are gone, people want to watch football now and this is probably the best alternative. The way he manages fighters is the issue for most people, me included.

I don't have any huge issue with Frank per se. Will leave the boxnation issue aside as even I find my own views on the subject boring by now. However think what sticks in my craw most with Warren is his apparent contempt for the fans or belief we fans are genuinely stupid. Apparently ever fighter he has in his stable who he cannot be bothered to match with someone is more avoided than a drunk Sonny Liston with his mad up who has heard you've tried it on with his missus.

Add into that his point blank refusal to consider giving even grudging credit for anyone who is not in his stable and he does come across as somone it is hard to like. However as I have said countless times anyone who has managed to have a 30 year career near the top of such a tough game deserves some level of respect and admiration.

Would also add truss I tend to agree with your general point that the Hearn love in we have to endure round here gets a little nauseating.

I'm not a warren fan but I think that he gets a bad ride compared to Eddie..

Warren gets what he deserves and laughs about it all the way to the bank. Hearns is making decent matches at present. If and when that changes, so will the comments.

I find it difficult to like Warren for similar reasons to rowley. Hes been involved in too many disputes, legal battles, pettyness etc with others in the sport to make me think hes a decent fellow. I also just dont like his match making. Its isnt fan friendly and as rowley says, he treats fans of the sports with contempt.

A few people on here maybe go overboard with how great Hearn is but I dont think it should take away that hes been doing a good job growing boxing on Sky. He also engages with fans in a more open way thats totally in contrast with Warren.

I actually think that boxing fans have it good right now. Warrens grip on the promotional aspect of things in Britain has loosened massively and I think other promoters here will be more fan friendly. But Warren now has boxnation which scoops up alot of the fights from outside Britain that Warren doesnt promote. If Warren just let others do the matchmaking while he used boxnation as a vehicle for showing fights then combined with Hearn doing his thing on Sky would mean a pretty good balance for boxing fans.

I don't think Eddie has done nothing wrong so far so deserves the praise he gets. Sure, he's young in the game with financial backing and could still yet make the same mistakes as Warren but hasn't yet.

I always find Warren very bitter, especially when I read his comments in his newspaper column.

Saying that ive grown into a big fan of Boxnation which over the course of a year is good value and can only be good for boxing considering many of the fights shown would have no UK tv coverage.

Because he is a moany Frank, that's why.

For me the main difference between the two is that Hearn isn't Frank.

We know Frank, he has been top of the game for a long time and because of that we know his faults, Hearn hasn't been around long enough to show his faults. Give him several years at the top and I'm sure his faults will be a little better known.

frankly, the way boxing on tv was going we'd be missing many fights and a lot of big american fights.

the show mayweather, khan, have just linked up with hatton, haye's last fight.

he's a boxing promoter and as such he is a bit dodgy - as is hearn but hearn's currently playing the good guy of boxing. (a role admittedly he's playing well as he keeps putting on stacked bills).

I believe you have a point Truss, Warren is a nauseating weasel git most of the times, but lets be fair his a top draw promotor.

Look at Ricky Burns for instance , a guy who was operating on the domestic circuit , Warren gets him a title shot (I know WBO) on his own turf and then another decent match against Katsidis, a well publicised fight with Mitchell and now Burns is a household name.

Hearn hasn't operated at that level I usually find his cards one sides gimmes, I just don't see the fuss with the guy. Good job with Froch but lets be honest the super six had do e all the background promotional platform for Froch.

Warren has a better fight on tomorrow than Rees v Crolla IMO, but Hearn can't do nowt wrong (at the moment)

Don't think it is his abilities per se with Warren. For me he just has an ability to come across as really petty at times. Remember some time ago when Boxding News were critical of him he stopped giving them press accreditation for his shows or when he did give it them he gave them really awful seats behind a ring post or some such. This is the premier boxing publication in the country and the oldest in the world and they can't report on your fights or fighters, just so petty and thin skinned.

Don't get me wrong I'm not particularly fighting his corner, you only have to read his column and his nitpicking comments to realise he's a top draw bell-end. However he's cards bar the Froch ones haven't been much different in quality from Hearns over the past 12 months. That maybe changing with Hearn signing more big names than Man City.

Eddie didn't even bother travelling with Lee Purdy.

In an interview a while ago Hearn made it clear that Matchroom don't put the purses up, Sky do.

As such, if Sky don't fancy a fight for big viewing figures on a Saturday night they seem happy to let it go to America and go out in the middle of the night and still show the fight on the cheap....

That's my take on it from what has been said publicly anyway.

Bellew-Stephenson will almost certainly be in America as Hearn has said HBO are backing Stephenson and they won't be able to compete with them. You would think they would fill a big venue for a Bellew world title shot and the money would be there... Apparently not.
