Wimbledon Day 4
Wow, after yesterday's drama the World Number One and reigning Australian Open champion takes Centre stage against "Burt" Reynolds. Also, Britain's greatest hope in the women's side takes to court 2.

Given the events of the last 3 days, I wonder how much higher Bobby Reynolds chances are being viewed!

Re: Wimbledon Day 4
Best price is 35/1 compared to 33/1 for Sergiy yesterday. Reynolds is unknown enough to cause the shock but I don't think it will be him who beats Djokovic here.

Very quiet today on the boards.
Take the view that hopefully a new piece of history will be written in the next 10 days

Llodra's gone too He was carrying a hamstring injury coming into Wimbledon though so it's not a massive shock. Still pretty annoying though considering I picked him to win today :/

Re: Wimbledon Day 4
I saw Llodra play on Tuesday and thought he looked fine - was moving really well. What a shame - Llodra's a great player to watch. Has he pulled out of doubles too, or is his withdrawal from singles a precautionary measure to save himself for doubles?

Oh, Llodra's injury was an arm injury. So much for a dodgy hamstring then!!

Special mention to 42 year old Kimiko Date Krumm, up a set in her 2nd round match.

"France's Michael Llodra has become the latest player to pull out of Wimbledon because of injury.
The 23-year-old made a strong start to his second-round match against Italian Andreas Seppi by winning the first three games, but the opening set turned around and went to Seppi by a 7-5 margin before injury struck."

Classic BBC commentary! They should outsource it to this forum, we'd do a sparkling job provided nobody texted in with anything about eras.
I'm looking forward to Raonic today, and Nishikori. Should be interesting to see what kind of nick JMDP is in, a real shame about Llodra though
Thanks for putting up the thread, TSJ!

Re: Wimbledon Day 4
Berdych just squeaks the first set against Brands in a tiebreak, close one there. Del Potro up a set, but just got broken by Levine. I see that young Dimi has started up in his match too.
The mighty Pironkova is playing today, just watched a point get interrupted by a stray ball hoofed over from a different court!

Sweet Caroline!! *bah bah bah* She does have a death wish though as she's standing inside the baseline to return Serena's 1st serve....

Re: Wimbledon Day 4
Dimitrov's got the trainer on, looks like a problem with his heel. He just lost the second set, 1-1. Nish is up a set and just finished a mammoth game (10 mins+) to consolidate a break at the start of the second.

not a huge amount going on right now to set the pulses racing.
Berdy moves into a two sets lead over Brands
Del Po does the same against Levine after a tough TB
Tomic completes a decent straight sets win over Blake

Yeah, feels a bit flat right now. Elsewhere, Nishikori looking solid and well on the way to going two sets up on Mayer, Dimitrov and Zemlja on serve in the third set (1 set each), and Anderson's beaten Przy...Pryzi...the Polish chap. Raonic and Sijsling just getting started.
Pironkova takes first set 7-5 after about a thousand set point chances.

Dimitrov moves safely into a 2-1 lead, Berdy wraps up the win, just one match from Robson-time

Serena was superb, but the female she was up against is 100% won for a future. She will be one of the best women tennis players in the world in 3-5 years.

This is me being a total geek, but there are two lovely contrasting service actions on display in the Sijsling-Raonic match, both very effective too. I'm somewhat transfixed
Well done JMDP! Through in straight sets.

Oof, Sijsling breaks Raonic and will serve for the set. Raonic nearly stoved his racket into the floor but thought better of it, it's rare that he gets het up.
I think we're the unofficial TP fanclub!

Watching a bit of Gasquet/Soeda. Wondered why Soeda looked familiar and then I remembered I saw him in the Nottingham challenger event a few weeks ago. He only won two matches there. How did he get to the third round of Wimbledon?

Come on Go Soeda my favorite Asian player, what a great comeback from 2-5 down in the 3rd tie breaker to win it 7-5 with an Ace.

Re: Wimbledon Day 4
Whoa, Dimitrov had to save MP, currently 9-8 as rain stops play! Blimey, time for him to tough it out and turn this around. He'll need to serve to stay in the match immediately upon resumption though. Raonic in real trouble too, two sets down - the seed exodus is set to continue at this rate.

Roof-mode has been engaged, finally. They wasted over 5 minutes before they put it on. Funnily, play has continued on Court 1 all this time.

Gasquet hasn't quite looked himself so far in this tournament has he? Don't think he'll present much of a challenge for Berdych in current form...

Re: Wimbledon Day 4
Gasquet gets it done eventually, but needs a fair improvement if he's to go past R4 surely? Raonic gone! He really hasn't kicked on this year, if anything he's going backwards, as maybe opponents are starting to read his serve better? Either way he needs to start putting the hard yards in...

They'll just put Laura on Centre if the rain continues. It can't be that heavy considering play was never stopped on all courts.
