Gulbis and Paire out - have the organizers bribed everyone in the bottom half of the draw to lose early?

The relatively slow court players are losing to the players who play better on fast courts.
Verdasco, Youzhny, Kubot (a pretty good doubles player). BanBro had commented that courts are playing relatively faster than last year.

Gee that was quick. Was looking forward to see both of them playing but out already in straight sets
Now you have a 4th round between 2 guys outside of the top100!

This Gasquet - Tomic match doesn't look like it's being played at full speed. It's like a jolly old hit in the sunshine between two friends at the local club.

Re: Wimbledon Day 6
The round three for the bottom half of the draw is now completed. Murray plays Youzhny (seeded #20) the next round. And that is the highest seed he can meet before the final!
I think Murray needs to be careful against Youzhny. Youzhny has been in decent form lately, and his game can work on grass.

Re: Wimbledon Day 6
Laura started really poorly. Slipped early on and has looked in disarray since. 5-1 down first set. This set is over but she needs a foothold.
As we all know with Laura, she's more suceptable to defeat against a lower ranked player on a smaller court than she is against a top tenner on centre!

Start of this set vital. Come on Laura, hold in this first game and then take a swing on her serve.

I see Erakovic slipped, but she can't blame that on the grass, because there's no grass at the baseline - just a patch of dirt on the ground worn by the plethora of baseliners in today's game.

Well done Richard, two more please.
I am actually quite liking this match - especially from Gasquet's side. It has some good serving, some rallies, some net play. And it moves along nicely too, the guys are not waiting around forever to hit the next serve.

You and I know more about women's tennis that the vast majority of the British media, which has really fired up Kiwi Erakovic, talking ad nauseum about a potential quarter-final with Serena, overlooking the fact that Robson has to play Erakovic first, and that in the H2H, Erakovic beat Robson on grass at Birmingham last year....The Special Juan wrote:Forgive my pessimism but I'll be surprised if Laura wins this one.
The media can be so disrespectful sometimes, and it can sometimes be to the detriment of the British players...this is the first time I've seen Erakovic so focussed.
Re: Wimbledon Day 6
Berdych will serve for the first set at the very least. He's turned up now and I expect him to win in 4. Kei's out that, beaten in 5 by Seppi. That's a bad loss for him.

The Gasquet v Murray is the most dominant memory I have of Gasquet at W.
Should a young Tomic win, it would bode well for the next few years, would you agree SB?

That happens to Murray as well. It was the same with Fedal and then with Nadal out, how Federer would win the whole thing. These folks must eat really bad sandwiches to come up with such asinine comments. These commentators need to learn the difference between live commentary and an overnight newspaper piece.

Yes, but somehow or other I cannot really warm up to him.laverfan wrote:Should a young Tomic win, it would bode well for the next few years, would you agree SB?
He can make hitting big shots look so easy, but most of the time he plays an odd sort of game. Even today, it is an awful lot of junkballing; I do not mind a bit of it, but he almost likes to base his game on junkballs. I really liked the way he played the AO match against Roger, I think that would be the way forward for him, but he seems to have reverted to his more typical patterns here.

Funnily enough I was just away to post about the British media disrespecting Erakovic. She's having the year of her life and has won a title plus had a few other big wins this year. They took one look at her ranking (56?) and decided that Laura was going to win despite the negative H2H. I didn't hear the H2H mentioned once yet when it's Murray v someone any previous past loss is brought up immediately. Also, even more riling.................

In fairness to them, they are not in the business of providing accurate information; they are in the business of hyping things up. They will not get paid if they write up a more accurate but less exciting sounding article.laverfan wrote:These commentators need to learn the difference between live commentary and an overnight newspaper piece.

Well on the mariginal calls it could be considered it may do. Hawkeye can not be 100% accurate. Possibly 99.9% accurate and a great system.. But a marignal call may be very very rarely wrong.
Laura right back in this!!!!

The media can be so disrespectful sometimes, and it can sometimes be to the detriment of the British players...this is the first time I've seen Erakovic so focussed.

Where is that piece of journalistic bigotry from TSJ?
