Sh*t or bust time.
Stop kicking the ball away and try the odd pass. Not advocating BaaBaas Rugby but intelligent play that poses one or two questions. We must bring our wings and Leigh into play.
Will Warren go for it?I hope so but I have my doubts!

Am I missing something?
Tipuric is a better choice than SOB in an open game. But we will play controlled rugby next week not open Wales 2005 stuff. It will be more like the RWC or last two six nations stuff.
There is bugger all between the sides.

You have to go out to win, not to try not to lose. Enough of this "controlled rugby" BS. We should of lost the first test and lost the 2nd test playing that way.
We need to take it to the Aussies or we could get completely played off the park.

+1
However Gats is not the sort to really gamble like that. He will prob opt for a more solid, defensive side for next week, and look to keep thunping away possession in an attempt to pin the Aussies in their 22m. We have seen him revert to that with Wales whenever things looked bad the match before, so really expect to see the Lions do it too

The Aussies did a better job of trying to play us off the park last week not this week. If Warburton hadn't gone off we would have won the series now.
Our set piece let us down, we missed a powerful lock and an experienced loosehead. We can add that and win this tour.
You can only play open rugby if the opposition allow it. This wallabies team won't allow it.

Get Halfpenny at 15 with a license to do more than out boot to ball and Hogg on the bench to come on late on. Other than that I completely agree with the side. I'd be tempted to have Faletau at 8 for a defensive rock without Lydiate or Warbs there but that's just nit picking really given Heaslip's good all round game. Whatever team gets played I hold little hope of them being given license to do much more than play the percentages and really don't expect Aus to be too troubled by it.

What a load of rubbish!
Any team can play open rugby if the coaches are brave enough and the players selected are good enough, doesn't matter at all about the opposition except whether it works or not!

Re: Dream Team for 3rd Test
yappy,
Problem being I think the coaching staff have spent more time trying to neutralise the Aussies (which hasn't worked) than relying on the Lions' strengths.
There's something to be said for swotting up on your opponents and nullifying them where you can but it's taken the very soul out of this Lions side with a rigid, defensive gameplan.
Having said that some credit should be given to the Aussies who've had their fair share of injuries, upheaval and bad luck and yet still outplayed the Lions in two games.

Re: Dream Team for 3rd Test
My Dream team would be as follows (assuming Sam is injured):
Corbs
Hibbard
Jones
AWJ
Gray
Croft
SOB
Faletau
Youngs
Sexton
North
Tuilagi
JD2
Bowe
1/2p
Bench: Youngs, Grant, Cole, Parling, Tipuric, Murray, Farrell, Hogg.
Very much doubt that matches anyone else, but if that lineup was told to go and run the ball I reckon it could cause havoc, and if we went down, we would go down fighting. I cannot bear the thought of watching talented players following a game plan of kicking the ball away again for 80minutes.
PS Pains me to drop BOD. He put in a sterling defensive shift, but he looks absolutely knackered. He reminds me of a great boxing champion who has taken one punch too many.

Problem is any side you choose, if they don't try to play in the faces of the Aussies - I mean real committment to hard tackles and using ball won quickly and through the hand - not kicked away - they're only every going to win by that small margin at best where the game is in the balance right to the very end.
If you want to beat them, then fecking try to So far, that really hasn't happened at Welsh top intensity levels, English top intensity levels Irish top intensity levels or Glasgow top intensity levels I genuinely don't now think the Lions will achieve the right intensity level.... with any players. It's just not clicking in the on field partnerships. Many players are on differing ships, which is strange.

Who'll have the ball with them when that lot get charging?
There are not a lot of silky passers there, only receivers who hit and punch through things.
Give'em all a ball each, I say. That'll be a quicker win.

Re: Dream Team for 3rd Test
Though I would think having a fly half in there would improve it a little bit - unless you think that has been the problem, that they are stopping the ball getting out wide so by not playing one you avoid that problem?
