Welcome to Season 6 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (Ozzy3213) as to how the situation will be resolved.
Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1991.
Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.
Structured Window
No cash will be used and each team will get effectively free transfers by way of a draft, which will run 12th, 11th, 10th …… 1st, 12th, 11th,10th… 1st place side. This will run from 10th June 2013 until all teams have had their two picks.
Open Window
Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them. Teams may only bid for one player at a time.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Saturday. Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result. To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box. If you are not providing a descriptive prediction you will be restricted to predicting a 1 point win either way.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
At least 10 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

Re: Homepage
At the start I thought that this tour would have been ideally suited to Croft's style, but the games have been incredibly tight and the Roberts (lesser extent Tuilagi) injury really scuppered our entire plans. If we had Roberts getting over the gainline from the first test onwards, then we'd have a lot more attacking ball to work from and potentially that would have allowed Croft to have had more of a say in offence.
I can see why Gatland picks Lydiate, in that he stops Genia playing and if you stop Genia then the Aussies lose a lot of attacking threat.
Also seen a lot of press saying that BOD had to stay on the bench at least, but if we've got Tuilagi coming on at 60 minutes and JOC is being moved to defend the 13 channel like he has in the first two tests then that could be a very good attacking option for us. Just hope JD2 plays well tomorrow, for me he's luckiest guy to be starting and not be dropped from the match day 23.

Only a rumour however! Would be a blow, Quins haven't really brought anyone in to capitalise on where they are in the league. Whereas when you look at Tigers or Sarries, they always have some comings and goings.

I think Quins will be out of the top 4 this season. They seem to of got weaker and Evans seems to be fading a bit. Have got some good youngsters coming through mind.
Top 4 for me in no orders...Saints, Tigers, Saracens, Glos
looking at the fixture list, Irish have Tigers and Saints during the A.I's which is a touch.
Last year we had Welsh and Exeter who lost no players to internationals really and we lost both.

Agree with you there Nick - can see 4th place being a battle between Glos and Bath. Can't stand Bath but they have recruited really well this summer and should be strong all year round.

Re: Homepage
Bath doing well next year will be a good thing for England with Webber, Attwood, Ford & Eastmond all going to play big roles for them. Tigers & Sarries shoes in for the top 4 think you can pick the next 2 out of a hat from Saints, Quins, Bath & Glaws. Think european adventures will have an impact for Quins. If they do well in Europe may struggle in the league as there squad is just getting smaller at the moment

Faletau has made more yards in 10 mins than Heaslip in 2 tests.
Backrow working like a dream so far, Lydiate & SOB working great in combination.
We've really missed this scrum..6 pts in 15mins

Cracking from Halfpenny, had a great game.
All of Gatlands changes have had stormers (bar Phillips). Faletau has give us a go forward 8, SOB absolutely immense with 14 tackles. Corbs & Jones untouchable.
Bit of a wobble but some performance, even Roberts who's done nothing all game has went over!

Re: Homepage
Shall we try ratings??
1. Corbs (9) - fantastic in loose & scrum, great tour
2. Hibbard (8) - Great effort in tight and put in some big hits, lineout work much improved
3. Jones (9) - Titantic scrum effort, gave Corbs platform to attack Alexander
4. AWJ (9) - topped the carrying and was everywhere
5. Parling (7) - quietly went about his defensive duties, lineout went well and that tap on Mogg was quality
6. Lydiate (6.5) great start and notable tackle early on. Seemed to backwards each carry but a decent performance
7. SOB (8) - massive defensive effort with 14 tackles in 50 mins, carried well in tight and was effective at breakdown
8. Faletau (8) - hardly took a backwards step, great carrying and gave us go forward, strong at breakdown too
9. Phillips (4) - poor game apart from quick tap from scrum. So slow at the base and kicked terribly, Murray was massive improvement
10. Sexton (7) - pretty quiet for first 60, kicked too much badly. Picked up when Murray came on and service became quicker
11. North (7.5) looked for work and out muscled the dangerous Folua
12. Roberts (6.5) looked off the pace but ran some good lines late on, again improved when Murray came on and we got some quick ball
13. Davies (8.5) fully justified BOD dropping. Kicking was major strength and ran some good lines, nice break for try
14. Bowe (7) looked for work all game and took some great high balls, kept his opposite number quiet all game
15. Halfpenny (9) Cracking game from the FB, kicked fantastically from the tee and made some great breaks, positioning was excellent

Shame his kicking & service was so poor, awful scrum half. I think he may have actually played worst than the 1st test.
Lydiate put in a decent shift, just work man like. One big tackle stood out but was quiet for rest of game.

Makes no mistakes. Handling superb carries well and defence
Different galaxy.
Shows difference a platform makes. Front row allowed us to dominate. Any Backrow combo would have thrived today. Home nations have great Backrow options.
Not enough said about Sextons leadership today. Bossed it
As did Farrell. Again platform made it easy

Sexton was best back for me Pooly. Agree with Matt he completely bossed that game although the front rows dominance went some way to helping with that. Think SOB was magnificent in the back row. Should have been starting from the 1st test. Reckon Connor Murray has gone up in everyone's estimation this tour. Been best scrumhalf by a long way.

Re: Homepage
Murray has played well with his cameos, Youngs has looked good in patches too. I'd have loved to have seen Youngs behind that dominant pack, he'd have had a field day. I'd have liked to seen Murray maybe start this test and Youngs off bench but a little late.
Sexton was pretty average until the 50/60minm mark then he came to life, I imagine much of that was to do with the service as with Phillips it was just so poor. Gave him nothing to work off. Thought JOC went past him very easily for his try but it was a bit of magic.
Halfpenny then JD were our best backs imo, both had top game.

Nice bit of work on the main boards:
"Also why grade the Lions? Job done. They all get 10 out of 10 from me. Except for Phillips who was dreadful and Lydiate who did nothing. I hate this unseen work garbage. If its unseen, by definition, you can't see it. So if you can't see what is unseen then how can you see that someone is doing the unseen work? You can't see someone doing the unseen. It's like if someone is wearing camouflage and you walk past and say 'nice camo big lad'. It's not camouflage then cause you can see him. So in rugby terms there's seen work and no work. So if you can't be seen doing the seen work you ain't doing nothing buster."

will do full ratings tomorrow
Corbs MoM
Faletau, Halfpenny, Bowe, SOB (i was wrong on him Pooly a few years back) and North superb. Everyone else good. George Smith ahead of Hooper a horrific call.
JOC had an awful series besides a brilliant try. Beale superb but extremely lucky to play.
Deans sacked and Cooper at 10 please.

I think JOC is without doubt the worst 10 to play for Australia. Offers nothing.
Good try but it was a wingers try.
They would have been a different team with cooper at ten and would have had some leadership.

Re: Homepage
I'm not surprised Steve. JOC just hasn't kicked on as people thought he would. Now in part that is down to not being allowed to settle in a position and learn his trade, but I can't help also thinking that the early praise went to his head and he has the belief that he is a superstar already.
He needs looking after and to be played in a settle position (not 10).

I really fancy him at 12/13, he's shown he's an instininctive runner more than a 10. Centre would give him time on the ball and he's got a good set of distribution skills to bring people into game.

I initially was going to say the same Pooly, but I'm not sure that defensively he is physically up to it in the centres. He looks a back three player to me.

Re: Homepage
His defence is shocking at 12 when he has played there. Looks scared to tackle.
Agree 15 could be good for him as he would have time
On ball.

Re: Homepage
He's already a world class back 3 imo. Love to see him tried at centre where he can get his hands on the ball. His defence is solid enough to play centre.

Surely to be considered world class you need to have proven yourself in the game at international level?

Re: Homepage
Yea I'd agree with that, JOC has proved to be a world class back 3 player over previous seasons.
Search on YouTube and you'll see some of his International performances for Aus on the wing and FB.
He's less than a year older than Christian Wade yet he has 40 caps

He has had some great performances on the wing for Aus, but not for a while. I'd struggle ranking him as world class right now, although I do believe that all he needs is to be allowed to play in 1 position to get back to that level.

Agree Pete.
I doubt many wouldn't have had him in the top 3 wingers in rugby a few years ago, thats pretty much world class imo.
