Rumour regarding the Third Test Team!
First topic message reminder :
There are reports going around now that the Monday after the second test BOD, Heaslip and Sexton went to the Lions management and said they needed to make changes to the gameplan for the third test! Speculation is that Gatland wasnt happy and dropped two of them as a result! Anyone think there is truth to it? Did Gatland maybe feel he couldnt trust them to follow his gameplan correctly and had them replaced with his more familiar faces?

My advice to Gats...if players who are not performing come into your room to suggest a change in the gameplan...drop em.
Me coach, you play...and so far, only one of us is doing our jobs properly.
Oh of course, proper soldier stuff. I'd still love it to be true and I'd still salute the Irish boys for doing it. Plus... drop underperformers? That's all 23? Let's not isolate individuals adhering to a crap plan - they all did. And that's what it was... Crap.
But away you go, Gats. The floor is yours for the final waltz. Let's hope it ain't Matilda for his sake.

One should remember the Swagman was a thief that stole a sheep and drowned himself in the pool. Not even I think that Gatland deserves that, well until Saturday afternoon anyway. He has started to haunt my dreams with his selections already.

If that's true then good on him. Phillips only broke a curfew! (Allegedly)

If it is true also then Gatland really mustn't like Owen Farrell.

Maybe Andy joined the dissenters.
I actually heard something along those lines from a friend of a friend who at one stage lived in Wigan.

Oh and keep it under your hat but I've heard Jamie Roberts has tweaked the Hammy. Farrell being a quality centre will step in to the 12 jersey.
Anthony Foley has been drafted in to replace him on the coaching team.

Woodward is to lead a coup at zero six hundred hours GMT. Gatland will be put under house arrest for the final few days of the tour. BOD to be reinstated with full military honours. Win to be confirmed by complex treaty that will give Aussies fishing rights in Irish waters. Lions respect restored in the world. Gatland deported to a place called......

Re: Rumour regarding the Third Test Team!
Anyone running a book on who might go off injured?
From a confidence perspective, Wallaby fans would be very nervous if Horwill went down but the their bench selections have no cover for AAC so it would be tough if he had to leave the field.
We'd be in a bit of bother if Roberts has to go off since it's unlikely Davies and Tuilagi have had much time together in training.

Yes, a plan so crap we were a missed kick away from winning the series last Saturday.
N.B. I'm not a fan of the gameplan - it's frustratingly one-dimensional.

One thing certainly is true. O'Driscoll won't have to worry about the gameplan after the third test.
I heard a rumour the Lions won the Last test to win the series and we went a whole 20 minutes without someone moaning about Gatland !!!!...

Then you'll realise why some of us are questioning why the centre who played the crap plan best (defended more as defending was the orders) is the fall guy.
Am I a bad guesser or do I hit the nail in the head by saying that the 'gameplan' will be much more positive and attacking (and the correct one) now...when the 'right' people are all involved again?

I love this. You've already discounted the relevance of performances in the non-Test matches because Davies performed better than O'Driscoll in them, and now because O'Driscoll didn't shine in attack in the Tests either, you narrow the criteria further, to the one area in which BOD was better than Davies.
I don't understand what you're asking in your second sentence. I doubt the gameplan will change much. If we play better, we play better. Let's hope we do.

'Rumours' prefigured in the eponymous Fleetwood Mac album of 1977. Did not end well.

Re: Rumour regarding the Third Test Team!
You 'love' anything that doesn't agree with your view, Luckless.... a strange lad.
I do discount the relevance of non-Test matches...you think they're big cheese decider games? Strange thought.
Performance in Tests is what matters. That's the chequebook you bring home with you after a series.
BOD was the better Centre. Period. Under a crap plan that you yourself have admitted was a crap gameplan and that you don't like it.
Gatland then himself makes the point that he was impressed by Davies in one of the lesser games! That shoots him up the board in Gatland's eyes? He had a look at him in two Tests as well, what was his impressions there?
And you understand perfectly the second bit. Davies will now be given a better 'gameplan' to work with, as will all the players (no choice now but to attackplan the stubborn Wallabies).
But Gatland had the ability to call for an Attack Plan in both Tests that have gone before. He had the ability to put Tuilagi with BOD and call on Sexton to run it more than kick it. No, he had to wait for the 'right' people to get back first.
Davies is a fantastic little player (I know he isn't small he just looks kiddish) I don't wish him ill luck at all. And I won't be eager beavering any mistakes he makes (like others were doing in the 2nd test with BOD). This isn't about Davies or the nine other Welshmen. I'd have Cuthbert playing instead of Bowe. Nothing about Irish V Welsh.
It continues to be about a player who played with heart enough and ability enough to at least get a bench spot. Gatland willfully snubbed a loyal player who gave him his all in both Tests (when he could have arrogantly strolled through thinking his name would be enough to get all three tests). No, he played as he always plays, with full honesty, loyalty and 100% sweat effort.
I say it again, I'll joke here through the days and have fun with the topic and wum at little and talk seriously a little - the whole Lions deal.
But I personally will never forgive Gatland for what he did.

I don't think the non-Test matches are 'big cheese decider games', but I don't understand why they shouldn't count at all.
I'm getting genunely tired of the idea that Gatland has 'wilfully snubbed' O'Driscoll. If he really wanted to snub him, he wouldn't have brought him on tour, and he certainly wouldn't have played him in the Tests. We could have won the series by now - and O'Driscoll would have played in both matches. What a bizarre way of snubbing someone!
Gatland had O'Driscoll inked in for the Tests. It didn't happen for him. He's been dropped. Them's the breaks. This is professional sport.

It's not your emotion, Luckless...it's mine. I'll own my own thoughts. But you go right ahead and genuinely tire of what you like. Every word I'd repeat. Gatland is your guy. You hug, praise and get behind him as much as you feel a need to. I'll have my own opinions of him. Gatland is using Lions time to practice now. If Warbuton was fit, O'Brien wouldn't be there either, as everyone knows - gameplan or no gameplan.

That's not a rumour, as it includes a 'right' or 'wrong' clause. We all know it could turn out to be 'wrong' but for the 'right' reasons. No 'or' needed for that publicity stunt.

Rob Howley's had plenty of stick over the seasons for his work as 'attack' coach for Wales. The Yanks call it 'offense' and it's certainly offensive to anyone who likes a bit of wit and invention from their back line.
