Has anyone seen Clive?
Abducted by Aliens? Fell off a ladder?
Prior to the tour he was pundit A, always available for comment. He resurfaced to express an opinion on the dropping of BoD and then seems to have been otherwise detained?
Perhaps he was preoccupied watching Wimbledon?
Is he Ill?

Re: Has anyone seen Clive?
He was in the DailyFail last week using his Lions article as a chance to talk about the 03 worldcup.
About two lines for the Lions then several paragraphs about how England took the World Cup in the same stadium!
Also condemned Gatland for letting t players have a day off surfing after the second test loss.

But in some weak attempt to vindicate Sir Clive was mustered up by the DailyFail by a head line "Sir Clive got it right AGAIN!" then the article says he too wouldn't have put Roberts and Manu as cetre partners for the final test.

Re: Has anyone seen Clive?
Been a fan of Russell Howards good news for a while and he really brought to my attention how much of a laugh it is to read the DailyMail, the Rugby coverage is beyond hilarious, they had a head line a fortnight ago "England can take second test to win the series" .
Then right now they have a story about how nasty Welsh man Cuthbert threw the trophy at the Lord BOD!!!! But thankfully the Lord BOD has the softest of hands and saves nasty Welsh man Cuthberts blushes by catching it.
Anyone who watched the celebrations could tell you BOD cheekily threw the trophy to Cuthbert, but the Mail have even reversed the photos of each moment to make it look like Cuthbert threw it
Go check it out in their rugby section.

He's been diverted with the pros and cons of my PM here on v2 - suggesting that the Celtic Lions should carry on whilst England should continue to plough its own fertile furrow.

Re: Has anyone seen Clive?
Would SA accept a full England three test tour from England during the next Lions' visit to the Land of the White Cloud Bilt?

I think he's getting ready to comment on the up and coming Ashes next week - I believe he's reading up on cricket right now

Re: Has anyone seen Clive?
He's been all over the Daily Mail, giving his opinion about every aspect of this tour,
It's funny, if you aren't tuned in to a particular media outlet then the message just doesn't seem to get out.
I saw a few commenters to Australian sites wondering why David Campese had been so quiet. He's actually been a regular on Talksport radio during the whole series.

Can't imagine why Campo has been keeping himself to himself lately:

On topic please! This one is for poking fun at SCW. If you want to poke fun at David Campese, start your own thread!

I will however digress to mention Stuart Barnes who prior to the Last test said, on national TV - "why drop O'Driscoll? It's a risky risky move, you've lost all that experience in winning and you're left with some welsh players who are accustomed to losing to Australia"
Oops.
Oops.

On that measure, you can't criticize Woodward then, because he was one of the only columnists for a UK national paper to openly support Gatland's starting XV selection for the third Test.

Re: Has anyone seen Clive?
What Clive did is as of yet lightyears ahead of Gatland and at least on par with Henry too IMO
Henry has a superior record sure... but think about the base he had to work with.... John Mitchell who has been laughed at as a domestic coach attained a 83% win ratio with NZ and won 2 3N titles in 4 attempts (50%).
Henry only improved on Mitchell's record by 3% and won 5 in 8 3N (63%)... he did have 2 great young players to build his entire team around but did add some NH steel into NZ's forwards play which they previously lacked and even then he needed 2 bites at the cherry at the RWC just as much as SCW had and was fortunate enough also to have JW & Jonno like Henry had Carter & McCaw... albeit Jonno for less time.
Before SCW, Cooke & Rowell enjoyed a win rate of 36% vs. the 3N sides. SCW rose this to 43% but crucially post RWC99 onwards he pushed that to 75%, 12 wins in 16 matches.
That is an unthinkable improvement on the past, literally improving prior success by double, one of the great turnarounds in rugby fortune history.
Gatland, done well with Wales in Europe, won a lions tour which SCW didn't do... albeit Gatland's chance was in AUS, SCW was in NZ... slightly different in reality. Otherwise and overall he's not even in the same ballpark as chaps like McQueen, White, Woodward and Henry (as of yet at least).
