Moment of the series?
First topic message reminder :
Simple one really guys and lasses, what was your moment of the series? It can be a try, move, pass, tackle etc. mine had to be Parlings stiff arm ankle tap tackle in the third test. I cannot recall who it was on but boy did it make me smile.

u got to give it to Australia they are the come back kings u can't take ur eyes off them so the stand out moment for me after Australia s big come back in the 3rd test when leigh halfpenny burst through a few defenders and offloads it to north to score . i knew that moment the lions would win the series

For me it was all the missed ozzie kicks in the first test!
The deciding factor in the series was kicks at goal!

Halfpenny's work for North's try, amazing stuff annoyed me more that he didn't try counterattacking when he had a few chances too in the earlier tests!
North won;t get many easy tries then that just brilliance from Halfpenny.

Some esteemed poster suggesting that Warren did not pick many Scots as revenge for them trying to poach Shingler.Made me chuckle.

Murray has come back from the tour a significantly better player than when he went out. I'm looking forward to a more experienced and confident Murray playing this way for Munster with our young JJ at #10 later in the season.
You see RedStag.. what a fine job Gats has done for Irish rugby. Gatland saw the future and made it happen for B& Ireland. (chuckle )

Parling's try saving tap tackle in the third test. That single act at that point in the game could have won the series from a player who's selection was derided by many on here.

Tiger,
I quoted that moment late in 1st half and Faletaus turn over early in 2nd both as crucial points as the Aussies were on the up during both occasions.

Re: Moment of the series?
My moment if the series was seeing North's disallowed try from the first test for the first time. Gareth Charles and Robert Jones commentating on Radio Cymru could not believe it had not been given by the TMO. It was daylight robbery. I had a clear picture of this iny imagination. Lets say the reality hitting home was about if a shock! Partisanship at its finest! No Aussie will be listening in Welsh, it's as if two blokes from the local are commentating.

Re: Moment of the series?
Genia's knock on in the first play of the 3rd test. Set the whole turn. Dropped the Aussies heads, put air in the lungs of the Lions. Had we not scored that try so early on and the AUS not been on the backfoot from the word go then it would have been a completely different game.

Re: Moment of the series?
Beale's slip in the first test has to be there or there abouts but luckily that didn't end up being the whole story.
For me the Sexton, North and Roberts tries in the third test combine as a massive moment considering it was over only a few minutes. The overcrowded lineout was the champagne moment where you knew the series was in the bag.

North's try in the 3rd test
Halfpenny proved he was man of the series - and rivals Kearney's performance in the 2nd test in 2009 (with added kicking), and most importantly, it finally took the game completely beyond Australia
There have been enough last minute heartbreaks with Wales against Australia that I was comfortable until that try.

Re: Moment of the series?
When it was finally all over.
Hopefully the next series will be better and the rugby will be more watchable.
I recently watched some of the 1997, 2001 and 2009 games and the tactics, standard of play and execution was immeasurably better than this year. There seemed to be more in the way of character and players enjoying themselves. Much better players too.
Roll on 2017 and a much better series for the fans.

Hear hear. I rarely engage in schadenfreude but knowing a series win will make some narrow minded people miserable for four years puts the icing on the cake

Weird comment. We might not agree but not sure why you're calling me a masochist.

Which Lions supporter wouldn't enjoy the second half of that last test? The last twenty five minutes, for sure, was rippin' Rugby for a Lions supporter.Glas a du wrote:OK, I'll agree not to be petty if you admit (even if only to yourself) that you enjoyed the second half of the third test.
And that makes my biggest moment the Sexton try. Lions had given up 13 points and had just gotten three back. But the match was clearly in the balance. Changed the match and the series.
The best individual play for me was North's try in the other test.

George North's try in the first test told all the world that the Lions could live wiht/beat the Aussies. Beale's miss as has been said set up the rest of the tour.
