Aussies bowlers faced one of the best batting lineup and wrapped them up to a low total.[/quote]
like hell they did.
they're a poor and struggling line-up. talk them up so you can bash them down, it's far too easy to see that game.

Concerned about Broad ; what is wrong with him ? Don't want to be a bowler down from the start !
Pretty rough start from Finn but that is what you will get from him...can still be dangerous.
Watson will go after anything loose to get Australia motoring early in pursuit of this small England total. Need to get one of these early , or things will look grim by day end...and I will have to stop reading the posts on this board

Poor batting from Watson and one of the superb delivery from finn. Still England can stop Australia below 200.

Missed most of the first day's play, but come back it a good moment. Who was it that took out Shane Watson?

No , it would have been daft . Siddle is the only experienced bowler in the squad , was always going to play.
Finn on a hat trick !

Meanwhile Ricky Ponting reaches the milestone of 24,000 first class runs in his final first class match. For once, the stat says it all.

Come on msp , please get over this ridiculous fixation you have with Giles and not picking Finn in the CT. It is over , it was an ODI event , and this is a Test Match.
Just not relevant...

Re: Ashes: First Test
England's poor effort with the bat didn't really surprise me. I have always been saying this, this lineup can have their more than fair share of shaky days. That is Australia's chance, and in that regard, they have a very handy bowling unit that can take advantage.
And am I surprised at what Steven Finn has done in that last over? Not at all, check the archives!!!. Reverse swing? Control?

Aye it's a very brittle lineup
Too many starts, nobody converting. Some positives from that going forward

Finn's been on fire....with his 93mphg pace...but the " Bring back trundler Bresnan" Lobby will appear at one bad ining from Finn.

The dasher , Watson has gone ...these two are undoubtedly the steadiest batsmen left,
Get one of these quickly and the middle order will really be exposed...anything could happen.
Important half hour coming up...keeping me up at the cost of sleep

he has bneen assigned a role....to take the bowing apart and go for it from one end while Rogers holds up the other.
This is how he will play and the day it comes off...will set up a winning psoiton for Australia

I don't think anyone was saying Bresnan is better than Finn, merely that some thought Bresnan would play at TB.
I also think Bresnan gets more flak than he deserves on occasion

Tough for cricket fisticuffs. Bowling pitches probably get better TV ratings, thus revenue, but batting pitches get better gate receipts due to the games lasting longer... Tough

Re: Ashes: First Test
The Indian posters on here all seem a little obsessed by Finn versus Bresnan...
But in fact it is a false issue. In my opinion , Bresnan is mainly in the squad as cover for Broad (and he may well be needed !)
If England don't want Finn at any time it will be because Tremlett is back in town. But I expect Finn to be a fixture , at least in Test Matches now.
