At some point this stops being funny, and becomes embarrasing, Agar's fifty will be that point.. Sincerely hope he doesnt get it.

Re: Ashes: First Test
Fifty run win in the third test was pretty decisive only made close by a late English stand. Any South African who tells you that they were more nervous about that, then they were about being eight down with six overs to go is lying.

Re: Ashes: First Test
This is quite remarkable. The lad has batted really well , once he survived those first few overs (and the stumping benefit of doubt) , and it now seems Australia might even get a lead !
Some awful bowling from Finn , and the fact that Broad apparently still can't bowl , has really hurt England.
From looking like a runaway , this match is back on an even standing...not sure what England can try next to be honest...perhaps a bit more outside off - too many leg side tucks for one now.
Fifty for Hughes
Bet England wish they hadn't changed the rules - would have much rather gone off for lunch twenty minute ago !
Australia nearly level

Re: Ashes: First Test
This is just faintly ridiculous. 117/9, heading for a sizeable lead after a masterclass of swing bowling by Anderson, and steady spin from Swann.
Then a few runs later, Prior stumped Agar to bowl the Aussies out for 135. Only the third umpire somehow misses it, and England strive to serve up some terrible bowling, mixed up with a fantastic counter-attack from Agar.
Now England, who had a match-winning first innings lead in their grasp, will have to bat well on a beauty of a pitch with good conditions. Once we get that last wicket of course!
England still favourites for me, Australia don't have anyone in Anderson's class, nor a spinner in Swann's class.

Re: Ashes: First Test
Extraordinary. Australia are level!. Who could have though that possible after that Anderson spell. Perhaps Cook should bring Root or KP on to break partnership. Stuart Broad is called up to bowl at last, he didn't look very comfortable on the field.

Re: Ashes: First Test
Long way to go before the Ashes - or even the match- are decided.
But from being down and out an hour or so ago the Australians are certainly level , possibly even in front if they can push this lead further after lunch ...
Will be the happier team over lunch , just because of the comeback.
Well played young Agar
Love Test Cricket : always expect the unexpected !

Well played Agar.
It's a lovely track for batting, England still favourites because Australia have to bat last.
Right, I'm off to read the Times and do a couple of Sudoku puzzles. Maybe when I get back, England will be batting? Probably too much to ask!

First day. Aus skittle england for 215- on the up. England then pounce back to even the game with 4 late wickets. England on the up.
Second day. first session.. England skittle Aus -well on the up and then Aus get a last stand of 110 NO!!!-
Its crazy stuff- Could this be the ashes to beat all ashes... It has started that way.

Re: Ashes: First Test
The most frustrating ashes for an England fan since we were last a poor team definitely.
I think it'll be a contest but I think those who talked England up will be red faced come the end.
