First topic message reminder :

Probably one of the biggest fights of the year, certainly in terms of profile.

There's obviously going to be a couple of months of discussion on the boards but I think it would be entertaining for everyone to call it now so that when we have the post fight breakdown there can be plenty of 'I told you so's' etc.

Not a discussion thread, enough already.

Being in New Zealand I haven't seen much of either fighter apart from what I can get off youtube. However from what I've seen of Haye is that he is quick as seen against Ruiz and the way he dispatched Chisora compared with how Fury struggled against him I can only see one result here and that it will be a short fight and Haye will finish it with a devastating knockout.

I think Fury will be very conscious of Hayes power, an nervous with enormity of the event.

He will fight cautiously, negatively - trying to keep Haye at range, trying to cover up as Haye unloads anything and tie him as he arrives in the hope of wearing Haye out with his size & strength.

But I don't think these tactics will be sustainable for 12 rounds. Fury isn't powerful enough to make Haye fight as cautiously as he did vs Wlad. He is also slow - both in movement & handspeed - compared to Haye.

I think it'll be a fairly turgid affair that fails to match up to the build up, Fury trying to back off & lean on Haye whenever he comes forward, Haye himself doing his usual of circling & fighting in bursts. Eventually Hayes speed & power, added to his big fight experience will tell, and he'll put Fury in trouble, probably dropping him at least once with the right before stopping Tyson on his feet, prob around the 6th or 7th if I had to call it.

Good analysis...but i'd use your point regards Valuec as an argument as to why Haye wins this fight. Whilst Valuev wasn't a million miles from beating Haye, he didn't...reason being he didn't force the action enough. When he opened up for even a second (in the 12th) he was almost put down...staggering considering the size of him.

I don't think Fury is any better in terms of defence than someone of Valuev's standing. He is open when he unloads, he can be caught when backing up and added with his chin issues that's a big problem.

I actually think this fight is going to be a huge case of deja vu because I think it goes the same way as the Enzo v Haye match up. Reminicisint of that this is a big british fight against the two guys regarded the best of their division in this country. Haye has had the big fights...Enzo had not/Fury does not...

Haye to win within 5 Rounds.

Id be surprised if the fight goes like Valuev one because I dont think Fury has the chin of Valuev and hes been floored a couple of times already by lesser fighters than Haye. The Cunningham fight I think highlights alot of problems Fury faces and from what I have seen so far, the evidence supports a Haye win more than it does a Fury win. Against Cunningham he didnt box with any discipline. It looked like he was trying to hard to put on a show and be seen as entertaining and as a result he was getting caught and outboxed over the first 4 rounds. Its difficult to see Haye not punishing him badly for that kind of approach and mentality. However in the end Fury made his size tell and basically walked down and wore Cunningham out who was visibly tiring as the rounds went on. I think the temptation might be to try and do this to Haye.

If I were Fury I would start off trying to box controlled using the jab and see how effective that works against Haye. He might be able to nick ronds just by being busier and more aggressive against Haye. If it doesnt work, and Haye is getting to him then he might as well resort to trying to manhandle and grind Haye down like he did to Cunningham.

fury boxed really well against johnson, in a very borning fight, but he was able to land from the outside, and avoid punches on the outside, which is exactly what he needs to do. haye is much better than johnson granted, but likes fighters like ruiz, chisora, valuev etc who constantly come at him and give him oppertunitys, he hasn't really beaten anyone of note at heavy who is on the defensive, and showed against wlad he won't jump in and take a chance. the only problem is that fury is that prone to brawling he is unlikely to stick to that game plan, although i do think he will find a way to pull this one off.

Not being from these shores makes you a good person to ask. Is this a big fight in the boxing world or is it, as I suspect, only big in the UK? I doubt the US are holding their breath on this one, but I may be wrong, so it is a serious question you may be able to answer for me. Thanks.

Fury to work harder on his tactics than he ever has before, he will show a ring smartness and the discipline to stick to a game plan that we have not seen before. Fury to copy klitschkos tactics to a tee and win on points in a stinker.

I think the possibility of getting bashed up will keep Fury focused on his discipline.

In saying that he has never lost before so psychologically it's unlikely he will crumble too easily in the face of fire.

I don't think Fury has ever been seriously hurt even when knocked down but this time I think we'll be finding out exactly what his whiskers are made of

I think Furys style means the fight will not be boring. If it is it will be because Haye fears the size and strength of Fury and boxes like he did against Vluev and Klitschko. But Fury does not fight like Klitschko, he is more aggressive and he will try and knock Haye out. He will not by frightnened of Hayes power like Klitschko was so he will not be afraid to get stuck in and use his size and power. This is what will make it exciting because Furys style means he can leave himself open to be hit and give Haye an opportunity. Anything can happen in heavyweight boxing, as shown by the Haye and Klitschko match not many thought Klitschko would win on points. I think Furys size advantage and heart will give him the edge against Haye.

Haye by KO around 3 or 4 rounds. I think Haye will move early and Fury will get reckless trying to close the gap and get countered, dropped and stopped.

Never put my prediction down but I think it goes something like this.

First round to be pretty cagey, Fury wanting to impose his size but actually being quite smart moving around a bit and staying long, Fury arguably takes with Haye not doing much.

Second round pretty much of the same until Haye catches Fury with a right that sends him to the canvas. Fury wobbles up as the bell sounds.

Third round Haye knocks Furys head into Row Z.

First round Haye circles him and stays out of range popping in occasionally to size him up for that overhand right, Fury Jabs and hugs him and sticks his elbow in his face.

Second round Haye circles him and stays out of range popping in occasionally to size him up for that overhand right, Fury Jabs and hugs him and sticks his elbow in his face

Third round Haye circles him and stays out of range popping in occasionally to size him up for that overhand right, Fury Jabs and hugs him and sticks his elbow in his face

Fourth round Haye circles him and stays out of range popping in occasionally to size him up for that overhand right, Fury Jabs and hugs him and sticks his elbow in his face

Fifth round Haye circles him and stays out of range popping in occasionally to size him up for that overhand right, Fury Jabs and hugs him and sticks his elbow in his face

Sixth round Haye circles him and stays out of range popping in occasionally to size him up for that overhand right, Fury Jabs and hugs him and sticks his elbow in his face

Seventh round Haye circles him and stays out of range popping in occasionally to size him up for that overhand right, Fury Jabs and hugs him and sticks his elbow in his face

Eighth round Haye circles him and stays out of range popping in occasionally to size him up for that overhand right, Fury Jabs and hugs him and sticks his elbow in his face

Ninth round Haye circles him and stays out of range popping in occasionally to size him up for that overhand right, Fury Jabs and hugs him and sticks his elbow in his face when suddenly Rowley floats down via parachute wearing a leopard skin vest and a miniskirt (without underwear) for no discernable reason and creams "BOXNATION SUCKS LOL" and effectively shocks haye into immobility allowing Fury to use his Forearm on Hayes throat to hold him still and knock him out stone cold.

Consequently Alex is cured of Homosexuality and joins the church of latter day saints.

Rowley gets promoted to the head of UKBA because of his ability to frighten off all the Gypsies.

The End.
