I can see your point KP but you get bad decisions in cricket and you get good luck. If you walk 10 times a season for edges behind you can guarantee you'll get more bad decisions. Things like that don't even themselves out.

I don't walk. I respect people who do, but it's the umpires job to make a decision so I let him do that. As long as you don't complain when you are given out when you haven't hit it then I have no problem with not walking.
It's decisions like that that add creedence to letting the thrid umpire be in charge of the DRS. Because that is what is what brought into changem howlers like that.

I've never believed in walking. Let the umpire do his job. If he makes a howler, use one of your reviews. Don't waste your reviews either.
marginal cases OK
thick edge to first slip......pretending he didn't know he was out..is just unbelievable

they were happy to ask for Trott to go when he hit a ball. It evens out.

Never walk in professional cricket full stop. The bowlers ain't gonna invite you back in to bat again if you get a stinker the other way so don't be giving yourself out.
It wasn't an edge to first slip either KP, came off the keepers gloves.

Only went to first slip because of Haddens glove.

thick edge ot first slip.....unbelivable betrayal of spirit of cricket

DRS is there for howlers, such as that one. Clarke wasted his on two, well techinically three, speculative appeals. Not what DRS is meant for. England and Australia are now even for Steve Waugh not walking:

He didn't edge it to first slip KPF. He edged it to Haddin who palmed it to first slip.

I do agree with KP tbh. i would have walked, minor knick never- because it may not have even happened. but that was to blatent.
However I am also happy he didnt walk. because no one would walk against us and that is the sad truth of pro sport these days

Every team appeal for LBW and then don't review meaning they clearly didn't think it was out in the first place. Are they cheating by appealing?

I think it was the Ozzies under Chappel who first started the trend to not walk.

Amazed the umpire missed that. Presume Broad didn't really expect to get away with it ...but hardly going to 'fess up after he is given not out.
Aussies probably won't clap his fifty
Can't feel too sorry for them though : I have been living and playing here for years , and none of the b......s ever walk off my bowling...

Lead up to 242 right now. Cook and KP remained unbeaten through the evening yesterday, can Bell and Broad (*cough*) do the same?

Hibbz- How would you feel if a golfer got away with moving a ball , not penalising himself, signing the card and still winning an event?

I remember Clarke punching it up in the air in Adelaide last time off KP and not walking. Difference was England hadn't wasted their reviews.

2 wrongs don't make a right, but England have been on the end of some 'harsh' umpiring decisions (with the aid of technology) recently.

If they were all at it and the consensus was you do what you can get away with as in cricket and it was a professional event I'd have no issue. The fact that few if any cheat makes it a level playing field in golf and nobody is at a disadvantage by being honest.
You ever avoid paying any business taxes Mysti?

Re: The Ashes: 1st Test, Trent Bridge
Oh and something's just struck me. In the last Ashes series, I think it was Adelaide, Clarke edged the ball, just as much as Broad did, it was a huge inside edge, onto his thigh and it ricocheted to short leg where a catch was taken. He didn't walk, and the umpire somehow missed it. The difference? England didn't waste their review, and utilised it successfully. No fuss with that one.

Precisely, you do it because everybody else does, you can get away with it and to not would put you at a disadvantage in your profession.

In the same vein, without a generous 3rd umpire call, Australias deficit would be closer to 350 right now.

Will Agars 98 keep him in the side? Hasn't really looked the part when bowling.

Lead past 250. You'd figure with Swann out the rough, and Anderson and Finn having had a rest they've got a pretty competitive score. Anything over 300 will be very tough for Australia, so they'll need to blow the last 4 away sharpish tomorrow.
