Root you beaut!
Change of bowler bring rewards as Rogers perishes for 14. Aus 111-2.
Still, that just brings Clarke into play...lots of work to do yet...

Dont think anyone really blames Broad for not walking, but lets not pretend there are gross inconsistencies in the ICC....
On to the match... Im nearly in the money now!!

Re: The Ashes: 1st Test, Trent Bridge
I had my feet firmly on the floor!
Anyway, as expected the new ball didn't do much. As the ball gets older and older, the ball reverse swings more, and spins more. Perfect wicket at just the right time for England. 111/2, 200 to get. England favourites.
Now a bit of negativity. Finn has to be dropped for the next test. Yes, he is a wicket-taking threat, but he offers the square root of naff all in terms of control. You can almost put your house on Finn sending down at least one rubbish ball per over. You simply can't build pressure on the opposition if you have Steven Finn bowling at one end. Get Tremlett in for the next test. Send Finn back to county cricket to learn control. They're both a similar style of bowler, but Tremlett offers much greater control and a far superior economy rate to boot.

What are the odds that the score would be 111/2? I called it two pages ago!

Not absolutely always, but not far off. You certainly know when you've dropped it like Ramdin (or before that Rashid Latif) did...

We've had a few 'big' sessions over the test, a few 'crucial' sessions, and a few 'important' sessions. But this is the session that will probably decide the test.
Come on England!

If Australia end up on, about 215/3, I think its a very long way back for England... That Root wicket brought some life, mind.

Well KP_fan, if England take four more wickets today, or even more, they are clear favourites. If Australia rack up 90/0 or 90/1 in this session, they will be clear favourites.

Re: The Ashes: 1st Test, Trent Bridge
A question of patriotic importance:
What's the difference between James Anderson and James Bond?
Answer: James Anderson is more dashing, more heroic, more chivalrous, more handsome, and oh so more English.
So James, ready to save little old England again?

That's the spirit.
Get Clarke out early, that'll be their best batsman in the hutch.
Get Rogers out early, there's two new batsman at the crease.

Re: The Ashes: 1st Test, Trent Bridge
Anyone claiming to know what is going to happen in this game is either a fool or a liar.
It has gone up and down from ball one and just about anything could happen in the next hour...or the first hour tomorrow.
Right now is an important spell , with Clarke new to the crease and Broad and Anderson fresh from a break. But this alone won't decide the match...

Soft, soft dismissal. But James has done it for England!
Rogers gone, England are 7 away. Very soft dismissal though.

Yeah might look soft ...but Anderson was very clearly bowling to a plan there. Slower ball I think...good piece of deception. Saker part of that

Re: The Ashes: 1st Test, Trent Bridge
What we need now is one of these two out in this spell from the two main quicks - Clarke preferably.
Because Cook can't bowl these two too long at once. And although I would expect a rested Swann to be a bit steadier , I am a bit concerned about Finn.
Bookies still have England favourites...hmm. Maybe.
Swann back...

Clarke is set. big double ton incoming.
they won't move him. especially with agent smith backing him up.
and we haven't even seen Agar the wonder-pup yet.
